Five University of Kentucky student athletes earned six USTFCCCA All-America Honors for their accomplishments at the NCAA Indoor Championships the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Monday.
The men’s team ended up with four All-American’s, two first team and two second team. Luke Brown earned a first team spot for the triple jump, while Keaton Daniel earned a first team nod for pole vault. Kennedy Lightner earned second team All-American honors for the 200 meters and Dennis Ohene-Adu earned second team honors for the weight throw.
The women’s team came way with two All-American honors, both going to the same person. Charity Hufnagel earned two second team honors, one for the pentathlon and one for the high jump. She was the only woman competing for the Kentucky Track and Field team at the NCAA Indoor championship.
The men finished 11th overall, which was the best finish for them since 1996 when they finished seventh overall. This was the eighth top 15 finish for the men in team history.
