Final USA TODAY Sports Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll following NCAA tournament

The Gators were shut out for the final time.

Now that the NCAA Tournament is over and the Kansas Jayhawks were crowned national champions for the fourth time in their history, the very last USA TODAY Sports Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll was released on Tuesday as the folks from the flyover state celebrate their title. As expected by Florida fans, the Gators failed to receive any votes in the final tally of the 2021-22 campaign, thus ending the [autotag]Mike White[/autotag] era with a whimper.

The Southeastern Conference was represented by only four schools in the concluding top 25, with the Arkansas Razorbacks leading the way at No. 8. The Auburn Tigers, Tennessee Volunteers and Kentucky Wildcats all found themselves bunched up together in the middle teens at Nos. 14, 15 and 16, respectively, with the latter tied with the Miami Hurricanes for their spot. No other program made the top 25 while the LSU Tigers earned a pair of votes and the Texas A&M Aggies scored a single mark to wrap up the conference programs mentioned.

Where the SEC stands in final USA TODAY Sports Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll

Texas A&M finished the week with more votes than Alabama or LSU in the Coaches Poll after a strong run in the SEC Tournament.

The Florida Gators haven’t received a vote in the USA TODAY Sports Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll in a long time, and a second-round exit in the SEC Tournament isn’t changing things in the final update before the NCAA Tournament begins.

Kentucky, Auburn and Tennessee are at the top of the conference and own the Nos. 6-8 spots in the poll, respectively. Arkansas is the fourth and final SEC team ranked in the Coaches Poll at No. 22. All four of these teams have a real shot to go deep into the tournament this year.

Texas A&M‘s run to the championship game in the conference tournament should have earned the Aggies a bid to the Big Dance, but they’ll be a 1-seed in the NIT this year instead. The Aggies finished with eight votes in this week’s poll compared to Alabama‘s two, but the Crimson Tide is a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament. LSU finished with three votes in the poll and is also a No. 6 seed.

Where the SEC stands in USA TODAY Sports Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll update

Florida didn’t make the coaches poll again, but four other teams made the list while two others received votes.

Florida hasn’t shown up on the USA TODAY Sports Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll in months and this week is no different. The Gators didn’t earn them any votes in the last one for the regular season after they squeaked by Vanderbilt and fell 71-63 to the Kentucky Wildcats. However, four other SEC foes made the poll and two others received votes this week.

Auburn moved up a spot to No. 4 after beating Mississippi State and South Carolina soundly. Kentucky also jumped inside the top five from No. 6 after beating the Gators and Ole Miss. Tenessee barely missed the top 10 at No. 11, which is two spots better than the week prior. The Volunteers beat Georgia and the Razorbacks to finish off the regular season.

Arkansas is the last SEC team and the only one to dip in the poll. The Razorbacks appear at No. 16, dropping a spot after beating LSU by one and losing to the Volunteers.

Alabama barely made last week’s rankings at No. 24 but didn’t find itself anywhere this week after dropping two-straight games versus Texas A&M and LSU. However, the Crimson Tide and the Tigers received 11 and three votes, respectively.

After a wild regular season that saw Auburn claim the regular-season crown, the SEC Tournament kicks off in Tampa, Florida, on Wednesday.

USA TODAY Sports Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll and where SEC teams stand

A few upsets moved some SEC teams around in this week’s Coaches Poll, but five teams from the conference still remain ranked.

Florida hasn’t appeared on the USA TODAY Sports Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll in weeks, and a loss to Arkansas buried the Gators’ chances of earning any votes in the Week 16 results.

While the Gators may be struggling, five other Southeastern Conference teams sit firmly in the top 25. A pair of SEC upsets did shake things up a bit this week in the rankings, though.

Auburn fell one spot to No. 5 after dropping a game to Tennessee, and the Volunteers jumped up to No. 13 from No. 17 in turn. Arkansas also upset Kentucky causing the Wildcats to drop three places to No. 6 and the Razorbacks to finish the week at No. 15. Alabama rounds out the list at No. 24.

While it didn’t receive any votes in this week’s poll, LSU is another team in the conference that figures to finish the season off with an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Here’s where the SEC stands in the latest USA TODAY Sports Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll

No votes for the Gators once again this week, but five SEC teams appeared in this week’s coaches poll.

Even with an upset of No. 2 Auburn at home on Saturday — which marked Florida’s first win against a top-two team since 2009 — the 17-10 Gators are nowhere to be found on the latest update to the USA TODAY Sports Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll.

The conference as a whole saw some change, as the Tigers fell to No. 4 with the loss while Kentucky remained at No. 3. Tennessee fell four spots to No. 17, while Arkansas, who just beat the Vols on Saturday, moves up six spots to the No. 18 spot. Finally, Alabama is back in the poll at No. 25 despite a loss on Saturday to the Wildcats.

The SEC is in good shape still with at least six teams likely to make the NCAA Tournament with just a little over two weeks left in the regular season.

Not a vote in sight for Florida in latest USA TODAY Sports Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll

The Gators are once again on the outs despite winning their last three in comeback fashion.

Florida has won three-straight games in an attempt to salvage the season, but all three of those didn’t come easy. The Gators had to come back in the second half to win each of them, and it’s understandable that there isn’t a lot of confidence in this team right now after it needed overtime to dispatch a Quadrant 3 opponent in Ole Miss.

Once again, UF didn’t receive any votes in this week’s update to the USA TODAY Sports Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll, and barring several big upsets, the Gators aren’t likely to find themselves among the top 25 any time soon.

The rest of the SEC is doing better, but there was one notable drop this week: Auburn, who is 22-1 and previously was tied with Gonzaga for the top spot, is now down to No. 2. Kentucky, however, is on the rise to No. 4 as it rides out a hot streak.

There’s a decent gap between the Wildcats and the next-best SEC team in Tennessee, who ranks No. 18. LSU, meanwhile, dropped out of the rankings entirely after losing its last three. The Tigers are now receiving just four votes, while Alabama, who went 1-2 in a brutal three-game stretch against Baylor, Auburn and Kentucky, receives 28 votes.

Another week, another voteless showing for Gators in USA TODAY Sports Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll

Florida received no votes after losing two games this week to end a three-game winning streak.

Florida entered this week on a three-game winning streak, but by the midpoint, its season looked to be in critical condition. The Gators took a bad loss on the road against Ole Miss in a make-up game and they couldn’t hold on to a lead in what would have been a season-defining win in Knoxville against Tennessee on Wednesday.

With UF trailing by 16 points in the first half against Oklahoma State on Saturday in the Big 12/SEC Challenge, it seemed like this team’s NCAA Tournament hopes were history. An impressive comeback effort kept the hope alive, as Florida beat the Cowboys to get to 13-8 on the season.

Still, the Gators are in a precarious spot. They’re the First Team Out, per ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, and they have a long way to go just to shore up their postseason resume, let alone get back into the USA TODAY Sports Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll’s top 25. Once again, UF received no votes in Week 12.

The rest of the SEC fared better this week, though only four conference teams remain in the rankings. Auburn, who is No. 1 in the AP Top 25 but sat at No. 2 in the coaches poll last week, is now tied for Gonzaga for the top spot after a 20-1 start to the season. Kentucky, meanwhile, is up to No. 7 after an impressive 18-point win on the road against then-No. 5 Kansas.

The Volunteers held firm at No. 20 despite a shaky week, needing a comeback to win at home against Florida and losing on the road against Texas by one point on Saturday despite a valiant fight at the end. LSU is just hanging on at No. 25 after a loss to TCU.

Alabama remains on the outs even after an upset of previously No. 4 Baylor, but the Crimson Tide are the top vote-getters outside the top 25 with 39. Arkansas is also receiving votes, though it got just three.

Despite win streak, UF still shut out of USA TODAY Sports Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll

The Gators remain shut out of the Coaches Poll but are inching their way back up.

Another week, another USA TODAY Sports Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll without a single vote for Florida basketball. Despite scoring three wins in a row after a brutal start to their Southeastern Conference schedule, the Gators have bounced back but still have a ways to go before cracking the top 25 again.

The Orange and Blue have gotten it done without star center Colin Castleton, who is out indefinitely with a shoulder injury. Fortunately, Florida has faced some inferior opponents recently but it is yet to be seen how this team will perform against top-flight teams as it wades deeper into the SEC schedule.

Speaking of superior teams, the SEC currently has four teams in the top 25 in the most recent update, led by the No. 2 Auburn Tigers, who are currently nipping at the heels of the top-ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs. The Kentucky Wildcats come in at No. 13 while the LSU Tigers are ranked No. 18 and the Tennessee Volunteers No. 20. The Alabama Crimson Tide received 53 votes and the Texas A&M Aggies grabbed 12 votes to wrap up conference teams in the latest poll.

Still no votes for Florida in latest USA TODAY Sports Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll

Still no love from the Coaches Poll.

Florida basketball finally got in the Southeastern Conference win column on Saturday on the road against the South Carolina Gamecocks after dropping its first three games of league play for its worst SEC start since the early 80s. Despite the solid victory, the voters in the USA TODAY Sports Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll for Week 10 saw no reason to add the Gators to their ballots.

Since the last poll update, UF beat USC but also lost one at home against a short-handed LSU Tigers in a game that Florida had plenty of chances to win but ultimately seized defeat from the jaws of victory. Now after four games played, the Gators sit at 1-3 in conference play with a stretch of four games in eight days coming up.

Speaking of the SEC, the Auburn Tigers climbed up to No. 2 this week and are a threat to take the top spot any time now, while the Kentucky Wildcats come in at No. 12, LSU at No. 16, and the Tennessee Volunteers the final spot at No. 25. The Alabama Crimson Tide was the only other conference school to earn votes after dropping out of the top 25.

Arizona, USC and UCLA remain inside Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll top 10

The Pac-12 had three teams in this week’s Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll

Although there haven’t been many Pac-12 games as of late, the Conference of Champions held strong in Monday’s latest edition of the Ferris Mowers Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll, powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Of Colorado’s most immediate interest, Arizona (12-1), which the Buffs face on Thursday, improved one spot in the poll to No. 6. Arizona’s only game last week was a 95-79 win over Washington.

USC also won its lone game of the week against Cal to remain undefeated. Like Arizona, the Trojans’ win wasn’t exactly groundbreaking, but it was enough to boost USC one spot to No. 7. The Buffs will host the 13-0 Trojans soon on Jan. 20.

The only other Pac-12 team featured in the poll was No. 3 UCLA. After a lengthy hiatus due to COVID-19 issues, the 10-1 Bruins beat Long Beach State and Cal last week to improve two spots.

UCLA beat the Buffs handily back on Dec. 1, but these squads will meet again in Boulder on Jan. 22.

With the Buffs facing all three of the Pac-12’s best teams within the next 11 days, a win or two should get Colorado a spot inside the poll.
