Where does OU rank in USA TODAY Sports latest 1-134 rankings after falling to 6-6?

The Oklahoma Sooners finished the 2024 regular season at 6-6, after losing against LSU on Saturday night. It was a bitter end to a very difficult campaign.

As OU awaits their bowl destination, some teams will still be playing on conference championship game weekend. USA TODAY Sports staff writer Paul Myerberg took on the challenge of ranking all 134 FBS teams after Rivalry Week, and he has the Sooners as the No. 48 team in the country.

As a team that is a regular in the Top 25, typically the top 10, this is a far fall for the Sooners under [autotag]Brent Venables[/autotag]. In fact, No. 48 might be a generous ranking from Myerberg, as Oklahoma is a .500 team in their first year in the [autotag]SEC[/autotag].

The Sooners fall between 7-5 Pittsburgh (No. 47) and 6-6 Nebraska (No. 49) on the 1-134 list. Their ranking is good for 13th in the SEC behind Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Alabama, Ole Miss, Missouri, Texas A&M, LSU, Florida, Vanderbilt and Arkansas. In fact, only Auburn, Kentucky, and Mississippi State ranked behind the Sooners on Myerberg’s list from the SEC.

With a new offensive coordinator in tow and plenty of roster decisions to make, the road to the 2025 season has already begun in Norman.

Where did Oklahoma fall in the re-rank after the win over the Crimson Tide?

The Oklahoma Sooners are currently preparing for an important battle against the LSU Tigers on Saturday. It’ll be the final regular season game of the year for OU, who ensured a bowl berth last week with a win over Alabama.

A 6-5 record overall and a 2-5 mark in Southeastern Conference play in head coach [autotag]Brent Venables[/autotag]’ third season is a far cry from what is expected from this program. Year 1 in the SEC has been a disaster, and there are a multitude of questions surrounding the program going forward. However, last week’s win was a definite bright spot.

As a result of the victory, Oklahoma improved its standing among the 134 FBS teams this season in USA TODAY Sports’ weekly re-rank.

Staff writer Paul Myerberg ranks the Sooners as the No. 41 team in the country, up three spots from a week ago. That’s good for No. 12 in the SEC, behind Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, LSU, Missouri, Florida and Vanderbilt. There are 13 of the 16 SEC teams in the top 50, with Arkansas at No. 45.

Oklahoma is listed between Michigan (No. 40) and Baylor (No. 42) on Myerberg’s list.

Where did the Oklahoma Sooners land in the most recent 1-134 rankings from USA TODAY Sports?

Following their second and final bye week of the 2024 season, the Oklahoma Sooners are preparing for a battle against the Alabama Crimson Tide. It’ll be the final home game of the year for OU, and it could be the penultimate game of the season if the Sooners can’t find a way to split their last two contests.

A 5-5 record overall and a 1-5 mark in Southeastern Conference play in head coach [autotag]Brent Venables[/autotag]’ third season is a far cry from what is expected from this program. Year 1 in the [autotag]SEC[/autotag] has been a disaster, and there are a multitude of questions surrounding the program going forward.

One area where the fall of Oklahoma can be seen is in USA TODAY Sports’ weekly 1-134 rankings of each team at the NCAA Division I FBS level of college football. A team regularly in the top five or ten in the past quarter-century has fallen completely out of the top 25.

Staff writer Paul Myerberg ranks the Sooners as the No. 44 team in the country, up one spot from a week ago, with OU on an open date in Week 12. That’s good for twelfth in the SEC, behind Texas, Alabama, Ole Miss, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas A&M, South Carolina, LSU, Missouri, Vanderbilt and Florida. There are 13 of the 16 SEC teams in the top 50, with Arkansas at No. 46.

Oklahoma is, interestingly enough, listed between two programs who had coaches on the hot seat, before confirming that they will indeed return next year. No. 43 Florida will be retaining head coach Billy Napier and No. 45 Baylor will stick with head coach Dave Aranda.

It’s a generous ranking from Myerberg to say the least, as Oklahoma has looked like one of the worst teams in the Power Four at multiple points this season. It’s not a pretty sight to see yourself suddenly looking up at the Gators, who have struggled mightily for the last four years. The Bears, meanwhile, have cratered over the last three years before a bit of an uptick midway through this season.

That’s not where you want to be if you’re the Oklahoma Sooners. It’s just one more signal that things have to get moving in the right direction again, or else OU will fall dangerously behind the curve in the SEC.

Where do the Oklahoma Sooners fall in USA Today Sports’ 1-134 rankings?

OU enters a bye week after dropping again in USA TODAY Sports’ 1-134 list.

The Oklahoma Sooners are now 5-5 overall on the nightmarish 2024 season. They’re just 1-5 in Southeastern Conference play, which isn’t the mark anyone around the program expected.

Despite going 4-0 in non-conference games, OU has been one of the worst teams in all of the Power Four this year. They have proven that they are far from being ready for the [autotag]SEC[/autotag] and Saturday’s embarrassing loss against Missouri only served to beat a dead horse.

We’re eleven weeks into this college football season, so we have a pretty good idea of where most teams stand with just three weeks left in the regular season. USA TODAY Sports takes on the weekly challenge of ranking all 134 teams that play at the FBS level, and their placement of [autotag]Brent Venables[/autotag] team shows how far the once-proud program has fallen under his leadership.

Staff writer Paul Myerberg ranks Oklahoma, once a staple of the top 10, or at least the top 25, at No. 45 heading into week 12. It’s a six-spot drop from this time last week.

It’s an eye-opening position for Sooner Nation to find themselves in, and Myerberg’s ranking might actually be too generous to OU. The Sooners are sandwiched in-between Cincinnati at No. 44 and Arkansas at No. 46, both teams that would likely beat Oklahoma if they played this week.

No offense to the Bearcats or Razorbacks, but that’s not where a program like Oklahoma belongs in the pecking order of college football. It’ll take some soul-searching from everyone involved with the sinking program, from the top all the way to the bottom, if this thing is going to get turned back in the right direction.
