Former Colquitt County and Hoover High School head coach Rush Propst has resigned from Ultimate Student Athletes (USA) Academy.
Propst was announced as head coach on Jan. 2 for USA Academy, a start-up IMG Academy-type school in Coosada, Ala.
The seven-time state and 2015 national championship head coach has released a statement on his decision to resign from USA Academy.
Statement from Coach Rush Propst
“As many of you know, on January 2, 2020, I was introduced as the Head Football Coach for the new Ultimate Student Athletes Academy. At the time of the press conference, while I believed we had reached agreement on a majority of terms, we had not and have not entered into an employment contract. Due to a variety of factors outside of my control, I have informed USA Academy that I will no longer consider a position with USA Academy.

Bill Clark (UAB), Jeremy Pruitt (Tennessee), Chip Lindsey (Troy) and John Grass (Jacksonville State) are all former assistants for Propst during his Hoover tenure that are current FBS and FCS head coaches.
Shelton Felton was hired by Tennessee during the offseason and will serve as outside linebackers coach. Felton previously coached at Colquitt County and served as Propst’s run game coordinator and defensive line coach for two seasons.
