Top-50 cornerback locks in return trip to LSU for game vs. Alabama

Javien Toviano is one of LSU’s top remaining uncommitted targets.

When the Tigers face Alabama on Saturday with the SEC West potentially on the line, they will have one of the top remaining prospects on their 2023 recruiting board in attendance.

Martin (Arlington, Texas) cornerback [autotag]Javien Toviano[/autotag], a four-star prospect in the 2023 class, has set a return trip to Baton Rouge for an unofficial visit this weekend as LSU hosts the Crimson Tide in a top-15 battle.

A top-50 prospect in the country and the No. 7 cornerback, per the 247Sports Composite, Toviano was previously on campus in September for an official visit the weekend of LSU’s matchup against Southern. Following that visit, he received two Crystal Balls for LSU, including one from 247Sports director of football recruiting Steve Wiltfong.

The Tigers are also a heavy favorite for Toviano according to On3, which also has him as a top-50 prospect, though it lists him as a safety. Toviano said recently that he is close to making a decision but wants to take his remaining official visits before deciding.

Toviano would be the fourth commit from Texas in the 2023 class as he would join safety [autotag]Ryan Yaites[/autotag], receiver [autotag]Kyle Parker[/autotag] and the most recent player to join the class, linebacker [autotag]Christian Brathwaite[/autotag].

LSU’s 23-man 2023 recruiting class currently ranks seventh overall per the 247Sports Composite and fifth per On3. The Tigers will hope to push for a consensus top-five class down the stretch.

LSU set to host elite 2024 quarterback target this weekend

The Tigers will host DJ Lagway on a return trip this weekend.

The Tigers are making a push for a top-five class in the 2023 cycle, but they already have the makings of a very nice class in 2024. If they can add [autotag]DJ Lagway[/autotag] to the class, it will get even better.

The four-star quarterback prospect from Willis, Texas, ranks as the No. 44 overall player in the country and No. 6 quarterback, per the 247Sports Composite. He recently released a top-10 that included the Tigers, and he is set to visit campus for the fourth time for this weekend’s game against New Mexico.

“It’s changed from Coach O to Coach Kelly and I’ve built up a lot of relationships with all of the offensive guys,” Lagway told On3 when he announced his top 10. “They talk to me on a week-to-week basis and I can relate to coach Sloan about anything. He’s funny and I like having fun with those guys over there. I always have good convos with Coach Sloan.

“The atmosphere there, that’s the best game-day atmosphere. At night especially. At night, it’s crazy in Baton Rouge.”

Lagway is one of the most highly sought-after prospects in next year’s cycle, and there are currently no Crystal Ball predictions for him from 247Sports. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has Texas A&M as a 66.4% favorite followed by Florida (12.7%) and the Tigers (7.5%).

Best is the standard at Clemson football, and this past weekend, the creative solutions team for the Tigers stepped up their social media game for recruits on campus.

If you are on social media, you have seen plenty of pictures from photoshoots during visits. Years ago, Clemson was one of the first to do this, and it didn’t take long for other schools to follow.

Clemson’s creative solutions team this past weekend did individual videos for each visitor, with integrated pictures from the photoshoots along with scenes from gamedays at Memorial Stadium.

Here is an example of a video sent to one of the visitors:

Texas Football: List of prospects on campus for final summer official visit weekend

Going into the final weekend of visits before another dead period, Steve Sarkisian and his staff will be hosting more important targets.

June has been one of the most hectic months in the history of college football recruiting. With the NCAA dead period being lifted, prospects from both the 2022 and 2023 prospects were visiting college campuses like crazy. Most had official visits lined up for four consecutive weekends.

Texas was no different. Every single week, at least one priority target was on campus. Over the weekend of June 12, it was mostly juniors with players such as Arch Manning, Rueben Owens, and Johntay Cook on campus. Flash forward one week and Texas’ top needs in the 2022 class were seeing Austin on official trips.

Going into the final weekend of visits before another dead period, Steve Sarkisian and his staff will be hosting more important targets. Four-star safety Bryce Anderson will be in Austin following the State 7v7 tournament in College Station. Texas is attempting to close the gap with Texas A&M.

Two important offensive linemen will visit as well, but unofficially. Kyle Flood, alongside Bo Davis, will be upon the busiest members of Sarkisian’s staff.

Here are the prospects on campus for final summer official visit weekend:
