UNLV at Dayton odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s UNLV at Dayton odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The UNLV Runnin’ Rebels (5-4) and the No. 24 Dayton Flyers (9-2) meet Tuesday at UD Arena. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the UNLV vs. Dayton odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

UNLV picked up a 72-65 win over the visiting Pacific Tigers Saturday, but it failed to cover as a 12.5-point favorite while the Under (139) hit. The Rebels have been struggling against the number, going 0-5 against the spread (ATS) in the past 5 games, while going 1-7-1 ATS in the past 9 outings. The Under is 5-1 in the past 6 contest, too.

Dayton surprised the Marquette Golden Eagles last time out on Saturday, winning 71-63 as a 1-point home favorite while the Under (149) cashed. The Flyers have been on fire against the number, going 6-1 ATS in the past 7 games, while going 8-2 ATS this season. The Over is 5-1 in the past 6 outings, while cashing at a 7-2-1 clip this season.

UNLV at Dayton picks and predictions

Prediction

Dayton 79, UNLV 65

Moneyline

Dayton (-750) will cost you 7½ times your potential return, and that’s way too much risk for not enough reward. Even as part of a multi-leg parlay, including UD sucks all of the value out of your ticket.

AVOID.

Against the spread

Play DAYTON -11.5 (-110) is a strong play laying the double digits at home.

For UNLV +11.5 (-110), it has failed to cover in a 5 in a row, while going 1-7-1 ATS in 9 games this season. As a double-digit underdog, UNLV lost 83-65 at Creighton Dec. 7, and you can expect a similar result in this battle.

On the flip side, Dayton is 6-1 ATS in the past 7 games, and it is 2-1 ATS in the past 3 games as a double-digit favorite.

The Flyers have only lost to North Carolina and Iowa State in Hawaii, while they topped UConn by 18 points Nov. 28.

Over/Under

OVER 141.5 (-105) is worth a look in this battle in Ohio.

Dayton has been on fire with the Over cashing in 5 of the past 6 games, going for 74 or more points in 8 of the past 9 games. The Flyers hit field goals at a 49.8% clip, among the best marks in the nation.

Be careful not to get carried away, though, as UNLV has cashed low in 5 of the past 6 outings. UNLV has coughed up 80 or more points in 2 of the past 4 games.

Mississippi State vs. UNLV odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Mississippi State vs. UNLV odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Mississippi State Bulldogs (5-0) and the UNLV Rebels (4-1) meet Thursday at the Arizona Tip-Off in Tempe. Tip-off is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network) at Mullett Arena. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Mississippi State vs. UNLV odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

The Bulldogs have back-to-back wins against power conference teams, topping Utah (78-73 as 7.5-point favorites Nov. 17) and SMU (84-79 as 1-point favorites Nov. 22) in the past 2 outings. This offense has scored at least 78 points in all 5 of its games, while it ranks No. 33 in defensive rating and No. 27 in the KenPom rankings.

The Runnin’ Rebels have won 4 of 5 but are just No. 93 in the KenPom rankings. UNLV has been a bit banged up to start the season as G Jaden Henley, F Rob Whaley and G Jace Whiting remain out indefinitely. Dedan Thomas Jr. continues to hold down the fort, averaging 17.8 points and 3.8 assists per game. He had a game-high 22 points in the Rebels’ last game, a 72-65 home win vs. New Mexico State Saturday — they didn’t cover as 11.5-point favorite and the Under (141) cashed.

Mississippi State vs. UNLV picks and predictions

Prediction

Mississippi State 81, UNLV 69

Moneyline

Backing Mississippi State (-400) will cost 4 times the potential return. That’s way too much risk for not nearly enough reward. Even as part of a multi-leg parlay on this holiday, it’s not a recommended strategy to include Mississippi State at this price. There just isn’t enough value.

PASS.

Against the spread

BET MISSISSIPPI STATE -8.5 (-110) as this team has already been tested in 2 tough games — against Utah and SMU.

For UNLV, it’s only loss to date is to Memphis, who did very well at the Maui Invitational in reaching the championship game. However, all 4 wins for the Runnin’ Rebels are of the quad-4 variety, so the jury is still out on their impressive record and start.

Over/Under

OVER 146.5 (-110) is worth a look in this neutral floor battle in the desert.

The Over has cashed in 4 of 5 games for Mississippi State so far. While the Bulldogs are a solid team defensively, offensively they’ve gotten loose for some big-time totals. As mentioned, Mississippi State has scored 78 or more points in all 5 of its games.

For UNLV, the Under has cashed in 3 of the past 4 outings, with the offense scored 80 or fewer points in 4 in a row.

UNLV at Colorado State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s UNLV at Colorado State odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The UNLV Runnin’ Rebels (14-7, 3-6 MWC) and Colorado State Rams (10-12, 2-7) meet Tuesday at Moby Arena in Fort Collins, Colo. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the UNLV vs. Colorado State game odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

The Runnin’ Rebels have recorded back-to-back victories at home against Wyoming (86-72 last Tuesday) and Nevada (68-62 Saturday) after a 1-6 straight up/2-5 against the spread run from Dec. 28-Jan. 21. The Over is an impressive 12-3 in UNLV’s past 15 lined games.

Colorado State has dropped 3 in a row, and it has failed to cover the spread in each of those outings. The team’s last win was Jan. 14, as the Rams picked up an 82-81 win in overtime in Las Vegas in the first meeting between these programs. Colorado State won outright as a 5.5-point underdog as the Over (144.5) cashed.

UNLV at Colorado State picks and predictions

Prediction

UNLV 76, Colorado State 73

Moneyline

The moneyline was OTB at the time of publication.

However, when it opens again you can bet UNLV as an underdog. The Rebs head to Fort Collins seeking revenge for the Jan. 14 loss in Vegas and Colorado State has needed OT in 3 of its past 5 games, losing 2 of them. The only win was against the Runnin’ Rebels.

UNLV enters off back-to-back wins and is 3-1 ATS in the 4 games since that loss.

Stream select live college basketball games and full replays: Get ESPN+

Against the spread

UNLV +3.5 (-115) is worth a look if you feel as if this will be another close game and want a little insurance on the road team. The first meeting was decided by just 1 point and Colorado State has been involved in 3 OT games in the past 5 outings.

Over/Under

OVER 143.5 (-115) is the strongest play on the board.

The Over has been paying off handsomely for Colorado State, going 11-3 in its last 14 lined games and 6-0-1 in its last 7 home games.

The Over has hit in 12 of the past 15 outings for UNLV while cashing in 5 of its last 6 games on the road.

Boise State at UNLV odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Boise State at UNLV odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Boise State Broncos (12-4, 2-1 MWC) meet the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels (12-3, 1-2) Wednesday at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. Tip-off is scheduled for 11 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Boise State vs. UNLV odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

The Broncos have picked up wins in each of the past 2 outings against San Jose State (67-64, Jan. 3) and Utah State (82-59, Saturday). However, Boise State has dropped each of the past 2 road outings, including its conference opener at Nevada on Dec. 28.

The Runnin’ Rebels picked up an 84-77 win at New Mexico Saturday, winning outright as a 5.5-point underdog. That snapped a 2-game mini skid, with losses at San Jose State (75-72, Dec. 28) and at home to San Diego State (76-67, Dec. 31). The Over is 3-0 in the past 3 games for UNLV, while hitting at an 8-1 clip in their last 9 lined games.

Boise State at UNLV picks and predictions

Prediction

UNLV 71, Boise State 67

Moneyline

The moneyline is OTB at the time of publishing.

However, when it opens UNLV should be a small favorite and will be worth playing if you just want to pick a winner and do not want to fiddle around with the points.

UNLV has a 6-2 SU record at home, although it lost last time out against San Diego State. There is some risk, too, as Boise State has won 5 straight in the series.

Against the spread

UNLV -1.5 (-115) comes with a little risk, as the Runnin’ Rebels have lost and failed to cover their last 2 games at home against Boise State.

The Rebels are 7-3 ATS in the past 10 games overall, including 5-2 ATS in the past 7 outings following a straight-up win.

Over/Under

OVER 135.5 (-115) might be the best play in this Mountain West battle.

The Under is 13-5 in the past 18 games for Boise State, although the Over has connected at a 6-1-1 clip in the past 8 against winning teams.

For UNLV, the Over is 8-1 in the past 9 games overall, is 4-1 in its last 5 at home and is 6-2-1 in the past 9 against teams with a winning overall record.

UNLV at New Mexico odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s UNLV at New Mexico odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The UNLV Runnin’ Rebels (11-3, 0-2 Mountain West) battle the No. 22 New Mexico Lobos (14-1, 2-1). Tip from The Pit is set for 9:30 p.m. ET (CBSSN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the UNLV vs. New Mexico odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

UNLV lost to San Diego State 76-67 on Dec. 31. It did not cover, closing as a 4-point home underdog. UNLV is 7-6 against the spread (ATS) on the season and is 6-3 ATS in its last 9 games that featured a spread. Its strength is in its defensive efficiency, sitting 56th in the nation in opponents’ field goal percentage (40.2%).

New Mexico is a perfect 10-0 at home this season and is 8-5-1 ATS. It is coming off its first loss of the season, a 71-67 defeat at the hand of Fresno State. The Lobos closed as a 3.5-point road favorite. Their strength is offense, averaging 83 points per game, good for 17th-best in the nation.

UNLV at New Mexico picks and predictions

Prediction

New Mexico 80, UNLV 72

Moneyline

PASS.

New Mexico is 10-0 on the road and is rightfully a heavy favorite here.

Against the spread

BET NEW MEXICO -5.5 (-105).

New Mexico is coming off its first loss, but it still has an explosive offense, sitting 25th in the nation in field goal percentage (48.8%).

The Lobos have covered their last 3 home games, so couple their offensive efficiency with their success at home, and there’s a strong case to be made. New Mexico has had just 4 of 15 games end within 6 points as well, so it has been able to consistently win by more than this amount.

On the other hand, UNLV has failed to cover 2 straight and struggles with its offensive efficiency, ranking 199th in field goal percentage (44.3%). It is 1-1 ATS as an underdog this season. The Rebels are also 1-1 on the road this season.

Put it all together, and the Lobos’ success at home coupled with the Rebels’ recent struggles suggest playing NEW MEXICO -5.5 (-105).

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 149.5 (-110).

If there’s something both teams have consistently done, it is cover the projected Over.

UNLV is 9-4 O/U while New Mexico is 9-5 O/U. The Rebels have gone Over in 7 of their last 8 games that featured a total. New Mexico has gone Over in 5 straight and has scored at least 75 in 4 of those 5.

Given its offensive efficiency and inability to defend the 3 (New Mexico ranks 160th in opponents’ 3-point field goal percentage), back the OVER 150.5 (-110).

UCLA at UNLV odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s UCLA at UNLV odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 2 UCLA Bruins (5-1) and UNLV Runnin’ Rebels (4-2) meet Saturday at Thomas & Mack Center in Paradise, Nev. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the UCLA vs. UNLV odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

The Bruins were dumped by 20 against top-ranked Gonzaga last time out Tuesday and stick around Nevada to take out their frustrations on UNLV.

The Runnin’ Rebels opened the season 3-0 SU before back-to-back losses to Michigan and Wichita State. The Rebs bounced back with a 101-45 win over Whittier College (Calif.) Wednesday to stem the tide of losing.

UCLA at UNLV odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

UCLA 82, UNLV 64

Money line

UCLA (-700) is the better team, and it will show here. However, risking seven times your potential return is rather foolish.

AVOID, and look to the line instead.

Against the spread

UCLA -11.5 (-107) is a much better play laying the points, even though the Bruins are just 1-3 ATS across the past four games. The Bruins are chock full of talented recruits, and they’ll be able to push past the Runnin’ Rebels, who are just not quite ready for prime time yet.

Over/Under

OVER 138.5 (-115) is the play here, even though the Under has cashed for UCLA in each of its last two. The Under hit in the Bellarmine game Monday, as the Bruins were looking ahead to a titanic matchup with Gonzaga, and the Under hit in that one, as the Bulldogs put the squeeze on the Bruins. UCLA will find a lot more room to operate in this bounce-back game.

Pepperdine at UNLV odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Pepperdine Waves at UNLV Rebels sports betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Pepperdine Waves (3-3) travel to meet the UNLV Rebels (1-4) Monday for a 9:30 p.m. ET tip-off at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. Below, we analyze the Pepperdine-UNLV college basketball betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Pepperdine at UNLV: Betting odds, spread and lines

  • Money line: Pepperdine -160 (bet $160 to win $100) | UNLV +135 (bet $100 to win $135)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Pepperdine -2 (-135) | UNLV +2 (+110)
  • Over/Under: 149.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Pepperdine at UNLV: Three things to know

  1. Pepperdine is looking for redemption after a stunning 89-84 loss to Cal State-Northridge last time out, losing outright as 15.5-point favorites. It was yet another cautionary tale of why you never bet huge money lines in any sport, especially college hoops.
  2. The Waves have registered a win over California, and they took UCLA to overtime before a crushing bad beat non-cover in overtime on Nov. 27. This will be their second game against a Mountain West team this season.
  3. UNLV opened the season with an 0-4 SU mark, but only a loss to Montana State in the opener was considered a “bad” loss. They fell to North Carolina, Alabama and Davidson, so their record looks worse on the surface than it really is. They picked up a nice 68-59 win over Kansas State as three-point ‘dogs last time out on Dec. 5, and they have covered their past two after opening 0-2-1 ATS.

Pepperdine at UNLV: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

UNLV 77, Pepperdine 75

Money line (ML)

UNLV (+135) is a value play at home, as Pepperdine (-160) is coming off a difficult loss. Both teams are battle-tested, and you can expect the “battle born” team from Nevada to pick up the win as short ‘dogs on their home hardwood here.

Against the spread (ATS)

UNLV +2 (+110) is still plus-money catching a bucket, although they’re a much better value just playing straight-up. However, if you feel strongly about Pepperdine winning by one, but UNLV still covering, then be my guest and bet it!

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 149.5 (-115) is the lean here, as Pepperdine has been a solid offense to date, posting 82.7 PPG to rank 51st in the nation. Defensively, they have yielded 73.3 PPG, so UNLV should be able to score.

The Rebs have had trouble filling up the basket lately, and they live and die by the three. They’re hitting at a 35.7 percent clip from behind the arc, which is their best aspect on offense. They have struggled from the field overall, and they’re a dismal 70.3 percent from the free-throw line. Defensively they have allowed 78.0 PPG.
