Nevada at UNLV: Three things to know

  1. Nevada beat Wyoming 37-34 in overtime last week in the opener for both MWC programs. The Wolf Pack let a 28-13 lead at the end of the third quarter slip away as the Cowboys stormed back in the fourth quarter to force overtime. Wolf Pack QB Carson Strong finished with 420 passing, including a 9-yard TD pass to Romeo Doubs in the extra period for the victory.
  2. The Fremont Cannon, awarded to the winner of Nevada-UNLV game, has gone to the Rebels in each of the past two seasons. However, Nevada leads the all-time series 18-10, with the Wolf Pack winning 11 of the previous 15 meetings.
  3. UNLV fell 34-6 at San Diego State in the debut of new head coach Marcos Arroyo, as nothing seemed to go right. The Rebels totaled just 186 total yards of offense, and 80 rushing yards, while coughing up 424 total yards with 287 rushing yards.

Nevada at UNLV: Odds, prediction, betting lines and picks

Prediction

Nevada 36, UNLV 19

Money line (ML)

PASS. Nevada (-477), mostly impressive against Wyoming last week, have lost two in a row to UNLV (+350). As such, it isn’t a good idea to post nearly five times your potential return.

Against the spread (ATS)

NEVADA (-13.5, -110) heads into this rivalry game looking for a more complete performance. Yes, it won last week at home against a solid Wyoming team. However, the Cowboys lost their starting quarterback after three plays, fell behind, and scratched back. The Wolf Pack allowed Wyoming back into the game, and that’s a concern. However, Nevada is still the bet here, as UNLV looked awful in San Diego.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 59.5 (-115) is a worth playing based on UNLV’s dismal performance in its opener. Nevada scored a lot of points last week, but it was at home. In the past 11 as road favorites, the Pack have hit the Under eight times, while going 27-10 in their past 37 as a favorite.

UNLV at San Diego State odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s UNLV Rebels at San Diego State Aztecs sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The UNLV Rebels and San Diego State Aztecs meet Saturday at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif. We analyze the UNLV-San Diego State college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

  • Money line: UNLV +667 (bet $100 to win $667) | San Diego State -475 (bet $475 to win $100)

  • Over/Under: 50.5 (O: -115 | U: -106)

UNLV at San Diego State: Three things to know

  1. Nevada-Las Vegas is coming off back-to-back 4-8 seasons. Those two-dozen games include two three-point tussles against these Aztecs. In 2018, UNLV downed SDSU 27-24, pulling ahead on a 75-yard touchdown run with 3:27 remaining. In 2019, the Aztecs returned serve in a 20-17 victory in Las Vegas. San Diego held on to an early 17-0 lead in that one. SDSU leads the all-time series 19-10.
  2. Sophomore Carson Baker takes the reins at quarterback for San Diego State and new HC Brady Hoke. Baker — who last year went
19-of-24 (79.2%) for 172 yards — could be spelled at times by Georgia Tech transfer Lucas Johnson. The Aztecs offense will be looking to improve on its 2019 exploits, when San Diego ranked 112th in the nation in averaging a mere 21.2 points per game.
  3. UNLV represents the other half of what is a battle of new bench bosses in this MWC affair. Former Oregon offensive coordinator Marcus Arroyo will look to inject some new concepts into a program which completed just 53.6% of its passes a year ago.

UNLV at San Diego State: Odds, prediction, betting lines and picks

Prediction

San Diego State 31, UNLV 14

Money line (ML)

STEER CLEAR. San Diego-minus-the-number is a solid side. Don’t muddy that action with the extra juice of this play.

Against the spread (ATS)

The Rebel QB situation is up in the air heading into a new season and a new offensive scheme. The battle for the starting job and legitimate, non-garbage snaps is a four-way battle. And, as the amended saying goes, when you have four quarterbacks, you have no quarterbacks.

Whoever is under center for UNLV will be up against what figures to be a staunch defense, and one adept at causing havoc in the trenches and in the defensive backfield.

Hoke, the former Michigan coach, could well find success in this slot at SDSU. BACK THE AZTECS (-14) in their opener.

Over/Under (O/U)

TAG THE UNDER 50.5 AS A DECENT PLAY HERE. A measure of SDSU game control plays into that lean. So does the Aztec defense and some question marks on the UNLV offense. The Under has hit in eight of San Diego’s last 10 games.
