Oklahoma Sooners take down UNC-Wilmington 74-53

The Oklahoma Sooners got big games from Grant Sherfield and Joe Bamisile for a big win over UNC-Wilmington 74-53. From @bendackiw

After stumbling out of the gate with a loss to the Sam Houston State Bearkats, the Oklahoma Sooner have rebounded with two straight wins. They’ve beaten Arkansas-Pine Bluff and now UNC-Wilmington 74-53 to improve their record to 2-1.

Oklahoma jumped out to an early 12-2 lead and controlled the game the rest of the way, never letting the Seahawks get within striking distance. Oklahoma led from start to finish and got up by as many as 24 points in the contest.

The three-point shot wasn’t falling for UNC-Wilmington. The Seahawks only made two three-pointers, both of which came from bench players. The Sooners went 10 of 23 from beyond the arc, shooting 43.5% from three-point range.

Senior guard [autotag]Grant Sherfield[/autotag] led the Sooners with 15 points on the night while shooting 5 of 13. He also contributed three rebounds and six assists. The Nevada transfer continues to pay huge dividends for the Sooners. His ability to penetrate opened the offense up for the Sooners. Joe Bamisile provided 15 points off the bench on 5 of 8 shooting from the field and 3 of 5 from three-point range. He was a spark for the Sooners’ offense throughout the game. Tanner and Jacob Groves each had seven points against the Seahawks.

[autotag]Tanner Groves[/autotag] and Jalen Hill each had nine rebounds as the Sooners won the battle of the boards 37-28.

The Sooners will have one more game at home in the Lloyd Noble Center against the South Alabama Jaguars before heading to Florida to play in the ESPN Events Invitational. They’ll open the tournament against the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

The Huskers are off to a 3-1 start with wins over Chadron State, Maine and Omaha.

Oklahoma Sooners vs UNC-Wilmington Seahawks: How to watch, stream, listen, and key players

Oklahoma returns to action on Tuesday against the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks. Here’s how you can tune into the action. From @thatmanbryant

The Oklahoma Sooners play the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks on Tuesday, November 11, and if you’re wondering how you can watch the action live, you’ve come to the right place.

Oklahoma laces up their Jordans in a return to action Tuesday night against the Colonial Athletic Association’s UNC-Wilmington. The Seahawks hail from the coast of North Carolina, where legend Michael Jordan grew up and played his high school basketball.

It’s been an inauspicious start to the season for the Sooners, who suffered a loss in the first game of the season in which they collapsed late and lost to Sam Houston State 52-51. They got back at it this past Friday and made their way into the win column after beating Arkansas-Pine Bluff 66-58.

Elsewhere, the Seahawks started their season by making the 2 hour trip to Chapel Hill, N.C., to take on the nation’s number-one team, the UNC Tarheels. They held firm for about 25 minutes of game time before UNC hit a different gear and took control to win the game. They bounced back with a 104-55 victory over Allen on Friday, Nov 11. The Seahawks are coached by Takayo Siddle, who is in his third year as head coach and has compiled a 35-20 record.

These teams will meet for the first time in each other’s history on Tuesday night.

Here’s when you should tune in to see the game:

  • Date: Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022
