Caliyah DeVillasee has paired down her recruiting list, yet again. Earlier this year she went down to a “Sweet 16” and now, she is down to just six remaining schools including the UNC Tar Heels in contention for the four-star point guard.
She is the No. 43 ranked player and a Top 10 point guard in the Class of 2025. That might not sound like a big deal, but UNC women’s basketball secured just one Top 50 recruit in the Class of 2024.
She is currently playing high school basketball at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Maryland next to her hometown of Owings Mills.
Caliyah DeVillasee (@lilbit_2025), the No. 9 point guard in the Class of 2025, has #UNC in her final six and will announce her college choice on Sept. 1. https://t.co/lENv3qtnU5

R.L. Bynum from TarHeel Tribune quoted Devillasee below.
I love North Carolina. I love the blue. I love Coach Corey. He came from East Carolina. I was talking to him before, but then we stopped talking because of the school he was at, but now that he’s at UNC, they had a bigger chance,” she said. “When I went to UNC, you could see all the hard work at practices and their goal is to make it to the Final Four. They’re still building, too. I love that the practice was intense and all that, too. I love the defense at UNC.
By that time, superstar Deja Kelly will be gone and the opportunity to thrive as a point guard will be there and open for her to take it.
