The UNC Women’s Lacrosse team has redemption.
A year after losing to No. 4 Boston College as the No. 1 seed in the semifinals, the Tar Heels got revenge and completed the perfect season on Sunday. UNC rallied back in the fourth quarter to beat the Eagles 12-11.
The Tar Heels jumped out to a 5-2 lead after the first quarter but watched the Eagles mount a comeback. Boston College cut the lead down to just two at halftime, trailing 7-5. But in the third quarter, the Eagles outscored the Tar Heels 3-1 and took an 8-7 lead.
UNC mounted a comeback as the teams alternated goals and the Tar Heels grabbed a two-goal lead late. They held off Boston College to seal the deal and earn the program’s third national title.
