UNC lands three-star defensive tackle Joshua Horton

The UNC football program has landed a three-star defensive lineman in the 2023 recruiting class.

Mack Brown and the UNC football staff have added to their 2023 recruiting class by going into the state of Georgia and landing a commitment.

Three-star defensive tackle Joshua Horton committed to North Carolina on Friday, picking the Tar Heels over 32 offers and a finalists list that included Auburn and UCF as well as UNC. Horton pledged his commitment on Friday afternoon, becoming the 15th player to commit to UNC in the 2023 class.

The 6-foot-4, 290-pound defensive tackle is ranked No. 841 nationally, No. 96 defensive lineman and the No. 85 player in the state of Georgia per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

The Tar Heels are starting to pickup some more momentum in the 2023 class, landing a commitment here in August with a few more decisions on tap before the month ends. Their 2023 class ranks just outside the Top 25 with the addition of Horton but with plenty of time left, they could end up with a top 25 class when it’s all said and done.

Tar Heels make cut for 3-star DL as decision date approaches

UNC has made the final three for three-star defensive lineman Joshua Horton.

Three-star defensive lineman [autotag]Joshua Horton[/autotag] has narrowed down the decision on his next football home to just three schools, with UNC making the final list.

The UNC football program has been on a roll in the recruiting department and looking to add on to the already impressive 2023 class with Horton. The 220-pound recruit has shown strong interest in Carolina with the 247 crystal ball predicting it to be the next spot for Horton’s talents.

Horton took to social media to announce his final three teams, with Auburn and UCF still in the mix, and the date of his decision coming August 19th.

Last year for Langston Hughes High School, Horton had 96 total tackles, three sacks, and one fumble recovery for a touchdown in just 13 games.

Tracking prospects visits to UNC football program in June

Tracking each visit for UNC football recruiting targets in the month of June.

The month of June will be an important one for [autotag]Mack Brown[/autotag] and the UNC football program. With recruiting taking center stage, the Tar Heels will host several recruits for visits.

The visits will span over the course of four weekends in June beginning with June 3-6th. This will be a good opportunity for the Tar Heels to impress 2023 targets and hopefully land some commitments this Summer.

With just three commitments in the 2023 class so far, UNC needs to get going a bit to up their class ranking and build the class overall. And these four weekends could be a big key for doing just that.

As the first visit weekend is underway, let’s take a look at the prospects that are currently set to visit campus and when they will visit campus.

We will continue to update this list as more visits are announced throughout the month of June.
