Big South Tourney gets started with a first-round upset at the buzzer

Charles Southern knocked off UNC Asheville to cash out +475 moneyline odds.

UNC Asheville got lucky once. Charleston Southern wasn’t going to let it happen again.

Up by a point with 6.8 seconds left in the first round of the Big South Championship, five-seed UNCA gave up a really good look on the perimeter that could’ve sank their conference title hopes.

The 3-pointer missed, but there was still one problem. The Bulldogs forgot to box out Taje’ Kelly, who tipped back the miss at the buzzer to lift the 12th-seed Buccaneers to the upset victory.

With that, March Madness was officially underway.

At +475 odds, a $10 bet on Charleston Southern’s moneyline would pay out $47.50.

Up next for Charleston Southern is fourth-seed USC Upstate.
