The UMass Lowell River Hawks (2-0) and the No. 5 Gonzaga Bulldogs (2-0) meet Friday at McCarthey Athletic Center in Spokane, Wash. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the UMass Lowell vs. Gonzaga odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

The River Hawks roughed up Rivier College, a lower-level team, 115-59 in the opener Nov. 4. It topped St. Peter’s 81-74 last time out Nov. 8, but it failed to cover as an 11-point favorite while the Over (136) cashed.

The Bulldogs spanked Baylor in a top-10 battle Nov. 4 in the opener, winning 101-63 to easily cash as a 6-point favorite while the Over (157.5) cashed. It was a close shave against Arizona State in an 88-80 win last time out on Sunday, with the Zags not even coming close to covering as 21.5-point favorites while the Over (156.5) hit again.

UMass Lowell at Gonzaga picks and predictions

Prediction

Gonzaga 95, UMass Lowell 58

Moneyline

The ML is OTB at BetMGM Sportsbook. However, if you wanted to bet Gonzaga (-10000) at FanDuel Sportsbook, it would cost you 100 times your potential return. In other words, you would need to risk $100 for every $1 in profit. Nobody needs a buck that badly.

AVOID.

Against the spread

Play GONZAGA -27.5 (-110) laying the big number. It’s actually a little surprising that this number isn’t a little higher against the America East Conference representative.

UMass Lowell +27.5 (-110) is unbeaten in 2 games, yes, so that likely had the books keep the line down. But UML’s 2 victories are against a lower-division team and a St. Peter’s team which is a shell of its former self. Gonzaga is a deep team, and it won’t play in this battle.

Over/Under

UNDER 165.5 (-115) is a strong play, even if the Zags flirt with the century mark.

Gonzaga could get into the upper 90s or into triple digits, but UMass Lowell is going to be at a size disadvantage, and it will have tremendous difficult running and keeping up with the Zags.

Yes, the Over has cashed in both games for Gonzaga so far, but that’s against 2 upper-tier teams in Baylor and Arizona State. It should lock it down on defense against the River Hawks.

America East Tournament: UMass Lowell at Vermont odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s UMass Lowell at Vermont odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Vermont Catamounts (27-6) and UMass Lowell River Hawks (22-9) meet in the final of the America East Tournament Saturday. Tip-off from Patrick Gymanasium is set for 11 a.m. ET (ESPN2/ESPN+). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the UMass Lowell at Vermont odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

No. 1 seed Vermont ended the regular season with a 15-1 conference record and a 15-1 home record. It beat the 8th-seeded Albany Great Danes 75-72 in the quarterfinals last Saturday, failing to cover as a 16.5-point favorite, then followed up that performance with a non-cover as a 17-point favorite in a 66-59 victory over the 4th-seeded New Hampshire Wildcats Tuesday.

Vermont is 14-17 against the spread (ATS) on the season. It has failed to cover 3 in a row yet is 5-3 ATS in its last 8.

UMass Lowell, the 2nd seed in the tournament, ended the regular season 11-5 in conference play and 10-6 on the road. It beat the 7th-seeded UMBC Retrievers 94-89 in overtime last Saturday, then took down the No. 3 seed Bryant Bulldogs 77-70 Tuesday, closing as a 7.5-point favorite in both.

The River Hawks have failed to cover in 4 straight games and 6 of their last 7. They are 12-16 ATS on the season.

UMass Lowell at Vermont picks and predictions

Prediction

Vermont 71, UMass Lowell 61

Moneyline

PASS.

Vermont (-310) won both games against UMass Lowell, both on the road and at home. It beat UMass Lowell by 12 at home and should again come out on top. At -310, there’s no valuing in betting it to win outright.

Against the spread

BET VERMONT -7.5 (-105).

The Catamounts have been far more profitable for bettors over the last few weeks, and they covered in both games against the River Hawks earlier in the season. Vermont has covered in 5 of its last 8 games and closed the regular season on a 5-1 ATS run.

UMass Lowell has failed to cover in 4 in a row and 6 of its last 7. The River Hawks’ top scorer is shooting under 40% from the field as well, which doesn’t bode well for it to keep pace with the Catamounts. Back VERMONT -7.5 (-105).

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 133.5 (-110).

If there’s 1 thing both teams have done as of late, it is hit the Under. The Catamounts went 8-21 O/U on the season. With the tournament included, they have gone Under in 4 of their last 5 games.

The River Hawks scored 65 or fewer in their last 2 games to close the regular season and went Under in both games against Vermont. They are 1-4 O/U in their last 5 games.

Take UNDER 133.5 (-110).
