Former Georgia Bulldog expected to miss chunk of NFL season

Former Georgia Bulldog expected to miss chunk of NFL season…

Former Georgia Bulldogs linebacker Nakobe Dean can’t shake the injury bug. The Philadelphia Eagles linebacker suffered a Lisfranc sprain on Sunday and is expected to go back on injured reserve, according to NFL insider Mike Garafolo.

The injury, suffered in the win over the Dallas Cowboys, isn’t to the same foot that landed Dean on injured reserve after Week 1.

It’s unclear when or if Dean will return this season. He will see a foot specialist before the team decides on a course of action. Lisfranc injuries are always tricky.

The 2022 third-round pick didn’t see the field much last season and has battled injuries throughout 2023. This season, Dean has 30 tackles and 0.5 sacks. While Dean’s talent is evident, his durability is a question mark.

Dean won the Butkus Award for the nation’s top linebacker in high school and in 2021 while playing for Georgia.

Ole Miss starter suffers ‘serious’ injury ahead of Georgia matchup

No. 2 Georgia (9-0, 6-0 SEC) will take on No. 9 Ole Miss (8-1, 5-1 SEC) on Saturday night in Athens. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET, televised on ESPN.

A report surfaced on Wednesday night that Ole Miss right tackle Micah Pettus suffered a serious injury in practice, putting his status versus the Bulldogs in doubt.

According to 247Sports’ Jared Redding, Pettus may have broken his foot. The team hasn’t provided confirmation as of yet, but this is a huge blow to the Rebels.

Pettus (6-foot-7, 360 pounds) earned third-team Freshman All-American honors last season and has started all nine games this season at right tackle.

Ole Miss has remained relatively healthy this season, but if Pettus can’t play on Saturday that would certainly throw a wrench into the Rebels’ game plan.

After nearly perfect weather for the matchup with Missouri a week ago, a cold front is bringing cool temperatures and rain through Athens on Saturday.

According to weather.com, the forecast is calling for a high of 55 degrees and a low of 47 degrees with a 40% chance of rain in the morning and a 70% chance of rain in the evening. Winds are expected to be 5 to 15 mph throughout the day.

Weather forecasts aren’t always reliable this far out and we’ll keep tabs on the situation as we move closer to kickoff. That said, if the rain holds true, we may see a defensive battle take place Between the Hedges.

Georgia football remains No. 2 in College Football Playoff rankings

Georgia football remains No. 2 in College Football Playoff rankings

Undefeated Georgia football remains the No. 2 team in the country according to the College Football Playoff rankings released on Tuesday night. The top four didn’t change from the initial rankings a week ago:

  1. Ohio State
  2. Georgia
  3. Michigan
  4. Florida State

There was a possibility the Bulldogs would jump the Buckeyes after beating then No. 12 Missouri in Athens. But the committee wasn’t fazed by Ohio State’s struggles against Rutgers (6-3) in Week 10.

Alabama remains at No. 8 following a 42-28 win over then No. 14 LSU, which dropped four spots to No. 18.

Georgia has another chance to make a statement to the committee this week with No. 9 Ole Miss coming to town.

After the matchup with the Rebels, the Bulldogs will travel to No. 13 Tennessee (Nov. 18), which moved up four spots after beating UConn (1-8) at home.

With wins over Ole Miss and Tennessee, Georgia should play for the SEC championship as the No. 1 team in the nation.

Kickoff versus the Rebels is set for 7 p.m. ET, televised on ESPN.

Former Georgia Bulldog Hines Ward on potentially joining UGA staff: ‘I’ll quit whatever I’m doing’

You’d be hard pressed to find a longer resume than that of former Georgia Bulldog star Hines Ward.

All-SEC Bulldog, two-time Super Bowl champion, Super Bowl MVP. That’s just the beginning of what the 47-year-old has accomplished.

Ward is fifth all time in all-purpose yards in UGA history (3,870). His 1,000 career receptions and 12,083 career receiving yards are Pittsburgh Steelers records.

Ward joined me before Georgia’s homecoming win over Missouri to detail his experience in returning to Athens for the first time in almost five years.

Ward teamed with Fairfield by Marriott, which is the official hotel of the NCAA, to bring The Home Field Advantage tailgate, where they kicked off game day with a warm welcome for Georgia students, alumni and fans.
