Georgia 2025 recruiting class superlatives

UGA football signing class superlative for the 2025 recruiting cycle.

The Georgia Bulldogs are very active in the NCAA transfer portal, but Georgia still relies more heavily on traditional recruiting.

Georgia has already signed 25 commitment in the class of 2025. The Bulldogs have the nation’s No. 3 recruiting class, so Georgia will have an influx of freshman talent next year.

The early signing period is over, but what are our class of 2025 superlatives?

Biggest Star

This award goes to the highest-rated commit in the class, Elijah Griffin. As the nation’s No. 5 overall prospect and the No. 1 defensive lineman, Griffin is as elite as they come and  fulls a critical need in a position that is set to lose key pieces this offseason. Kirby Smart and company secured his commitment through the relentless effort to make it known that he was on top of the recruiting board for Georgia.

Most Loyal

Tight end Elyiss Williams was the longest tenured commitment in this class. He has been committed to Georgia since April 2023. Williams is built in the lab with his 6-foot-7 frame lining up at tight end and out at wide receiver.  With the likes of Miami and Florida State coming on hard late in the recruiting process he stood firm on his commitment to the Bulldogs.

Immediate Impact

Five-star wide receiver Tayln Taylor is the first five-star wide receiver to come to UGA since George Pickens in 2019. Expect Taylor to come in and be an immediate playmaker in the wide receiver room, which is set to lose key contributors. It will be hard for the coaching staff to keep Taylor off the field.

Most Underrated

Mason Short is a 6-foot-6, 310-pound offensive lineman from Evans, Georgia. Short is not being talked enough around, but he is someone who fits into the culture at Georgia. He plays guard and in his highlight tape he plays with aggression and is fundamentally sound. He could go into and compete for a starting role with Tate Ratledge likely leaving for the NFL draft.

Most Potential

Dennis Uzochukwu is someone that Kirby Smart recruited late in the process, but made sure he was coming to Athens. Uzochukwu is similar to Brodrieck Jones, who came into Georgia as a talented, raw offensive lineman prospect and ended up as a first round pick in the NFL draft.

4-star Rasean Dinkins flips from Georgia Tech to Georgia

Georgia Bulldogs football and Kirby Smart flip one of Georgia Tech’s best commitments

The Georgia Bulldogs have flipped four-star safety recruit Rasean Dinkins from the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Dinkins, who had been committed to Georgia Tech since June 2024, plays high school football for Warner Robins High School in Warner Robins, Georgia. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound safety prospect is a member of the class of 2025.

Dinkins is ranked as the No. 219 recruit in the 2025 cycle. The Warner Robins standout is the No. 19 safety in the nation and the No. 32 prospect in Georgia, per 247Sports.

Following Dinkins’ commitment, Georgia and head coach Kirby Smart have the third-best recruiting class in the country. Only the Ohio State Buckeyes and Alabama Crimson Tide are ranked ahead of Georgia.

Georgia has 24 total commitments in the class of 2025. The Bulldogs still have a major need at cornerback.

Georgia Tech and head coach Brent Key are actually doing an outstanding job on the recruiting trail. The Yellow Jackets have the No. 16 recruiting class in the country, but losing Rasean Dinkins to their top rival hurts. Dinkins was one of Georgia Tech’s top commitments in the 2025 cycle.

Georgia football offers 4-star RB recruit Jaylen McGill

UGA football has offered four-star running back recruit Jaylen McGill, who is the fifth-ranked player in South Carolina

The Georgia Bulldogs have offered a scholarship to four-star running back recruit Jaylen McGill. McGill is a member of the class of 2026.

McGill plays high school football for Mountain View Prep in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He previously played for Broome High School in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The talented running back is the fifth-ranked recruit in the South Carolina in his recruiting cycle.

The 5-foot-10, 185-pound running back is ranked as the No. 306 recruit in the nation and the No. 26 running back, per 247Sports.

Kirby Smart and Georgia have been riding a wave of recruiting success recently. The Bulldogs have the second-ranked recruiting class in the SEC in the 2025 cycle.

The Spartanburg standout has recent scholarship offers from Alabama, Rutgers and NC State. He announced his scholarship offer from the Georgia Bulldogs via social media:

Georgia football is always looking for its next great running back. The Bulldogs have only one commitment in the class of 2026 in five-star quarterback Jared Curtis.

Georgia in-state target Isaiah Gibson commits to USC

USC hauls in another prospect from the state of Georgia in four-star DL Isaiah Gibson.

Lincoln Riley’s USC Trojans made a statement on Sunday, hauling in two elite defenders from the state of Georgia in the 2025 recruiting class.

First, it was five-star defensive lineman Justus Terry. The long-time UGA pledge flipped his commitment to USC in an unexpected move. Terry, out of Manchester High School, is rated as the No. 2 player at his position in the 2025 class, per 247Sports.

Georgia target Isaiah Gibson followed suit on Sunday afternoon by committing to the Trojans over UGA, Oregon and Oklahoma. The Warner Robins High School product is rated as four-star recruit and the No. 1 edge defender in the 2025 class.

Terry and Gibson expand USC’s class to three total commitments, each from the state of Georgia. Five-star quarterback Julian Lewis (Carrolton) was the Trojans’ lone pledge before Sunday’s moves.

It’s worth noting that the 2025 cycle is just beginning to heat up and there is plenty of time for Kirby Smart and the UGA staff to make another push for each of these recruits.

Georgia defensive lineman Mykel Williams was once committed to USC before signing with the Bulldogs in the 2022 class. UGA also had similar success in the 2024 cycle by flipping five-star safety K.J. Bolden from Florida State on Early Signing Day.

Georgia football offers 4-star QB Faizon Brandon

Georgia football has offered the sixth-ranked quarterback in the nation

The Georgia Bulldogs have extended a scholarship offer to elite class of 2026 quarterback recruit Faizon Brandon. Brandon, who is ranked as a four-star recruit, plays high school football for Grimsley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Head coach Kirby Smart and Georgia recently signed another Grimsley product in talented defensive tackle Jamaal Jarrett. Faizon Brandon is ranked as the No. 75 recruit in the class of 2026 according to 247Sports. The four-star signal caller is North Carolina’s sixth-ranked recruit and the sixth-ranked quarterback in the country.

Faizon Brandon has received over 15 scholarship offers to play college football. The 6-foot-4, 175-pound quarterback is an excellent student with a 4.0 GPA per his social media account.

In the Grimsley standout’s highlights, Brandon shows solid mobility, throws with anticipation and is capable of making tight-window throws. The four-star recruit is a candidate to be Georgia’s quarterback of the future. The Bulldogs are looking to find their next quarterback as Carson Beck is expected to enter the NFL draft after the 2024 season.

Brandon also plays high school basketball. He has recent scholarship offers from LSU, Alabama, Syracuse and Wisconsin.

Former Alabama commit Dontrell Glover includes UGA among final schools

Georgia is in the running for former Alabama commit Dontrell Glover.

Georgia is in the running for four-star offensive lineman Dontrell Glover out of Langston Hughes High School in Fairburn, Georgia. The 2025 prospect recently included the Bulldogs among his top nine schools, per a report from On3’s Chad Simmons.

Glover (6 feet, 3 1/2 inches, 310 pounds) fits the mold of the large offensive lineman Kirby Smart and staff look for. Glover is the No. 9 interior offensive lineman, the No. 27 player in the state and the No. 193 player overall in his class, per 247Sports composite.

Glover was previously committed to Alabama before Nick Saban’s retirement and Kalen DeBoer’s move to Tuscaloosa. The Tide didn’t make the cut for Glover’s final nine.

Glover plans to choose among Georgia, Auburn, Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, Florida State, Miami and Georgia Tech.

I expect UGA’s recruiting pitch to Glover is a simple one. Few programs can point to the level of development Georgia can when it comes to offensive lineman. The Bulldogs’ success at the position in the NFL draft seemingly shows itself each year.

The Bulldogs have sent 11 offensive lineman to the NFL under Smart. UGA is expected to have two more offensive lineman taken in this year’s draft, including tackle Amarius Mims and center Sedrick Van Pran-Granger.

Top 2025 RB Akylin Dear includes Georgia among top schools

Akylin Dear, the nation’s No. 4 RB, has Georgia among his top-12 schools…

Georgia football is in the running for one of the nation’s top running back prospects in the 2025 class, four-star tailback Akylin Dear. The Quitman High School (Miss.) prospect announced his top-12 schools on Thursday with UGA on the list.

Dear (6-foot-1, 200 pounds) is rated as the No. 4 tailback, the No. 3 player in the state of Mississippi and the No. 68 overall prospect in his class, per 247Sports Composite.

Dear will choose from among Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, Florida, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Texas, Texas A&M, Miami, Florida State and Ohio State when the time comes.

On3’s Hayes Fawcett shared Dear’s list in a tweet on Thursday:

247Sports’ David Johnson currently projects Dear to stay in-state and sign with Ole Miss. It will be up to Kirby Smart and new running backs coach Josh Crawford to try and persuade Dear to Athens.

Five-star LB sets official visit date with Georgia

Schley County LB Zayden Walker is visiting UGA football again this spring

The Georgia Bulldogs and head coach Kirby Smart have the nation’s No. 8 recruiting class in the 2025 recruiting cycle. Georgia is in the hunt to land a commitment from five-star linebacker recruit Zayden Walker.

Zayden Walker is the 10th ranked recruit in the class of 2025. Walker plays high school football for Schley County High School in Ellaville, Georgia. Walker is ranked as the top linebacker and No. 4 recruit in Georgia in his recruiting class, per 247Sports.

The Schley County standout has an official visit scheduled with the University of Georgia for May 31. Walker, who has previously visited Georgia, is a key in-state recruiting target for the Bulldogs.

Georgia football five commitments in the class of 2025. Georgia has a pair of commitments from five-star recruits in the 2025 cycle and is always a contender for top linebacker recruits.

Walker has recently visited Miami, Georgia, and Florida State. The five-star pass rusher also participates in track and field. One of Walker’s brothers, Zykeivous Walker, plays for the Auburn Tigers. His other brother, Jalewis Solomon, signed with South Carolina.

Nation’s No. 1 recruit includes Georgia in top 15 schools

Nation’s No. 1 recruit includes Georgia in top schools

Georgia is in the running for the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2026 class, defensive lineman Jahkeem Stewart. The five-star recruit included the Bulldogs among his top 15 programs on Tuesday.

Out of St. Augustine High School (New Orleans), Stewart is rated as the No. 1 overall player and the No. 1 defensive lineman, per 247Sports composite. Although he’s only a sophomore in high school, Stewart already holds 26 offers.

The 6-foot-6, 270-pound athlete will choose among Georgia, LSU, Alabama, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Auburn, Texas, USC, Ohio State, Penn State, Oregon, Michigan, Colorado, Miami and Florida State.

247Sports recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks had this to say when evaluating Stewart’s potential:

Elite young defensive line prospect given outstanding physical tools and promising movement ability. Possesses exceptionally high long-term developmental ceiling.

Stewart visited Georgia twice last year, including an unofficial visit in April. He later participated in UGA’s camp in June. It’s still very early in Stewart’s recruitment, so we can expect Stewart to begin to narrow down his choices as we move closer to the 2026 cycle.

Tennessee CB commit schedules Georgia visit

2025 CB Shamar Arnoux, a Tennessee commit, will visit Georgia football

Georgia will host 2025 cornerback and current Tennessee commit, Shamar Arnoux, this weekend, per On3’s Jeremy Johnson. The three-star recruit committed to the Volunteers in April of 2023.

Arnoux (6-foot-1, 170 pounds) plays for Carrolton High School in Carrollton, Ga. He is rated as the No. 41 cornerback and the No. 46 player in the state.

Although Arnoux has been committed to Tennessee for almost a year, it’s still early in his recruitment. Georgia has yet to extend an offer to Arnoux, but that is something to watch for as he takes his visit to Athens.

Kirby Smart and company have a knack for landing in-state talent, especially when it comes to secondary talent. The Bulldogs signed the No. 1 cornerback (Ellis Robinson IV), the No. 1 safety (K.J. Bolden) and the No. 3 safety (Demello Jones) in its No. 1 ranked 2024 class.

Georgia currently holds the No. 8 class in the 2025 cycle, featuring five commits. UGA’s class will begin to take shape as the cycle heats up this offseason.
