UFC Fight Night 213: Calvin Kattar vs. Arnold Allen odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 213 odds and lines between Calvin Kattar and Arnold Allen, with MMA picks, tips and predictions.

In a featherweight bout in the main event, Calvin Kattar and Arnold Allen meet Saturday at UFC Fight Night 213 — also known as UFC on ESPN+ 71 or UFC Vegas 63 — at the UFC’s APEX Facility in Las Vegas. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the UFC Fight Night 213: Kattar vs. Allen odds, and make our expert picks and predictions.

The fight can be viewed on ESPN+ with the prelims beginning at 4 p.m. ET and the main card at 7 p.m. ET.

Kattar is the larger fighter in stature, standing 3 inches taller and holding a 2-inch reach advantage over his counterpart.

Kattar also takes the walk with a 5.19-to-3.31 significant strikes landed per minute advantage, although Allen is the more accurate striker (46.56% to just 41.80%). Allen is also much better in the ground game, posting a 1.41-to-0.44 takedown average and a 0.38-to-0.09 submission average.

Kattar, a.k.a. “The Boston Finisher”, is looking to rebound after a disappointing split-decision loss to Josh Emmett in June. He is just 3-3 across his past 6 fights with each of the previous 4 bouts going the distance.

Allen, a.k.a. “Almighty”, is looking to build off his dominant 1st-round KO/TKO over Dan Hooker in late March in his most recent outing. Since arriving at the UFC level, Allen has a perfect 9-0 record with 6 victories by decision, 2 submission wins and the KO over Hooker.

UFC Fight Night 213: Kattar vs. Allen picks and predictions

Records: Kattar (23-6-0) | Allen (18-1-0)

Fight result (2-way line or moneyline)

The 28-year-old ALLEN (-118) is the fighter to back on the 2-way line. He hasn’t lost in his 9 UFC bouts, and he answered plenty of questions about toughness with his 1st-round KO of Hooker last time out.

Honestly, Allen had faced a lot of tomato cans early in his UFC career, as Dana White appeared to want to fast-track him. But Nik Lentz, Sodiq Yusuff and Hooker are top-flight fighters at this level, and he got by all 3 of them, too. He’ll get by Kattar for his best win yet.

Over/Under (O/U)

ALLEN BY POINTS (+240) on the METHOD OF VICTORY is a great value play. Allen has gone the distance in 4 of his past 5 outings, and Kattar has needed the help of the judges to determine a winner in 4 straight.

In addition, OVER 4.5 ROUNDS (-160) is not priced out of line and is worth a look if you want a little wiggle room late in Round 5. But YES (-125): FIGHT TO GO THE DISTANCE is a better value.

UFC Fight Night 213: Tim Means vs. Max Griffin odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 213 odds and lines between Tim Means and Max Griffin, with MMA picks, tips and predictions.

In a welterweight bout on the main card, Tim Means and Max Griffin meet Saturday at UFC Fight Night 213 — also known as UFC on ESPN+ 71 or UFC Vegas 63 — at the UFC’s APEX Facility in Las Vegas. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the UFC Fight Night 213: Means vs. Griffin odds, and make our expert picks and predictions.

The fight can be viewed on ESPN+ with the prelims beginning at 4 p.m. ET and the main card at 7 p.m. ET.

Means is looking for a bounce-back fight after being tapped out by Kevin Holland last time out in mid-June. That snapped a 3-bout win streak, all by unanimous decision.

The veteran Means has a 3-inch height advantage, but he gives up an inch in the reach department. He holds a slight 5.01-to-4.36 significant strikes landed per minute advantage, while Griffin is a little better on the mat.

Griffin also has good punching power, and that was on display in back-to-back KO/TKO wins over Ramiz Brahimaj (Nov. 2020) and Song Kenan (March 2021). He also recorded a unanimous-decision win over Carlos Condit at UFC 264 in July 2021 before a frustrating split-decision loss to veteran Neil Magny last time out in late March.

UFC Fight Night 213: Means vs. Griffin picks and predictions

Records: Means (32-13-1) | Griffin (18-9-0)

Fight result (2-way line or moneyline)

These fighters are nearing the sunset of their UFC careers, and neither can afford another loss. The difference between the fighters isn’t that much, but Griffin (-200) is a bigger puncher, and that will be why he gets the win, scoring points in the eyes of the judges.

However, you cannot risk 2 times your potential return, especially in a fight likely to go the distance.

AVOID.

Over/Under (O/U)

GRIFFIN BY POINTS (+140) at plus money is a solid play. He is likely to do more to catch the eye of the judges, landing more impressive punches which are likely to rock the head of Means back on occasion.

In addition, OVER 2.5 ROUNDS (-170) is a little expensive, but worth the play, with no finish expected. YES (-160): FIGHT TO GO THE DISTANCE is a little cheaper, and a decent play if you don’t want to declare a winner and want some action.
