UFC on ESPN 60 video: Dooho Choi painfully cracks Bill Algeo for first win since 2016

“The Korean Super Boy” Dooho Choi hadn’t won in the UFC since 2016 – until Saturday vs. Bill Algeo.

For the first time in 2016, [autotag]Dooho Choi[/autotag] has won.

Saturday at UFC on ESPN 60, “The Korean Super Boy” Choi (15-4-1 MMA, 4-3-1 UFC) picked up his first victory in over seven years when he finished [autotag]Bill Algeo[/autotag] (18-9 MMA, 5-5 UFC) with strikes at 3:38 of Round 2. The fight kicked off the main card at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

A big left hand cracked Algeo in the face. Though Algeo reset as if he was good to continue, the damage sank in and he covered up in pain. Not much more damage was dished as referee Herb Dean intervened.

Choi, 33, has faced a litany of career delays in recent years, having only four times since his 2016 victory over Thiago Tavares. Choi was 0-3 with one no contest in that stretch. Military obligations and injuries delayed his return.

Algeo, 35, falls into a two-fight skid, having lost to Kyle Nelson in March.

The up-to-the-minute UFC on ESPN 60 results include:

  • Dooho Choi def. Bill Algeo via

UFC on ESPN 60 video: Hyder Amil finishes Jeong Yeong Lee storm of punches in 65 seconds

Hyder Amil vs. Jeong Yee Lee enters the UFC’s one-minute classics category with an absolute slugfest turned in.

One-minute MMA fights don’t get much better than [autotag]Hyder Amil[/autotag] vs. [autotag]Jeong Yeong Lee[/autotag].

At UFC on ESPN 60 on Saturday, Amil (10-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) and Lee (11-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) engaged in an absolute slugfest for 65 seconds. Amil finished Lee standing after he officially landed 42 significant strikes.

The barrage notched Amil his second victory in as many tries as he becomes the first man to defeat Lee.

Seungwoo Choi vs. Steve Garcia prediction, pick, start time, odds for UFC on ESPN 60

Will the judges be needed in the new UFC on ESPN 60 co-main event between Seungwoo Choi and Steve Garcia?

[autotag]Seungwoo Choi[/autotag] and [autotag]Steve Garcia[/autotag] meet Saturday in the co-main event of UFC on ESPN 60 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom.

UFC main cards, 2024: 58-52-3

Seungwoo Choi vs. Steve Garcia UFC on ESPN 60 preview

Choi (11-6 MMA, 4-5 UFC) looks to keep the momentum going following a unanimous decision win over Jarno Errens last August. The result snapped a three-fight skid, which was the worst stretch of his UFC career. Prior to that, Choi won three straight. … Garcia (15-5 MMA, 4-2 UFC) will compete for the first time in 2024, and is running hot as a winner of three straight fights, each by stoppage. On his run, Garcia has stopped Chase Hooper, Shayilan Nuerdanbieke and Melquizael Costa.

Seungwoo Choi vs. Steve Garcia UFC on ESPN 60 expert pick, prediction

With Junyong Park falling out of his fight with Brad Tavares at the 11th hour, the impromptu co-main event in Las Vegas will now feature a featherweight bout between Choi and Garcia.

Both fighters are absolute wildmen at heart, but I believe that Garcia being a southpaw puts an interesting fold in this fight.

Aside from the fact that Choi is officially 0-2 against UFC-level southpaws, the Korean’s shot selection seems to be extra limited in open-stance affairs.

Add in the fact that Garcia seems to be coming into his own, and I can’t help but slightly lean toward the “Mean Machine” in this spot.

It should be a wild fight for as long as it lasts, but I’ll officially pick Garcia to force a standing stoppage by strikes late into Round 1.

Seungwoo Choi vs. Steve Garcia UFC on ESPN 60 odds

The oddsmakers and the public are favoring the American fighter, listing Garcia -152 and Choi +124 via FanDuel.

Seungwoo Choi vs. Steve Garcia UFC on ESPN 60 start time, how to watch

As the co-main event, Choi and Garcia are expected to make their walks to the cage at approximately 10:05 p.m. ET (7:05 p.m. local time in Las Vegas). The fight airs on ESPN and streams live on ESPN+.

Kurt Holobaugh vs. Kaynan Kruschewsky prediction, pick, start time, odds for UFC on ESPN 60

Will the lightweight bout between Kurt Holobaugh and Kaynan Kruschewsky produce a fast finish at UFC on ESPN 60?

[autotag]Kurt Holobaugh[/autotag] and [autotag]Kaynan Kruschewsky[/autotag] meet Saturday on the main card of UFC on ESPN 60 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom.

UFC main cards, 2024: 58-52-3

Kurt Holobaugh vs. Kaynan Kruschewsky UFC on ESPN 60 preview

Few fighters get a second shot in the UFC after their first run, but even fewer get a third after their second, like Holobaugh (20-8 MMA, 1-5 UFC). In the  tournament championship of “The Ultimate Fighter 31,” Holobaugh earned another spot on the roster by submitting Austin Hubbard. His momentum was halted, however, by Trey Ogden in his first fight of the year in April. … Kruschewsky (15-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) will look to pick up his first win in the UFC after being knocked out by Elves Brener in his November debut. The result snapped a six-fight unbeaten run that led to his entrance into the promotion after a submission win on Dana White’s Contender Series.

Kurt Holobaugh vs. Kaynan Kruschewsky UFC on ESPN 60 expert pick, prediction

Serving as a solid lightweight action fight is a matchup between Holobaugh and Kruschewsky.

Both men appear to be similar versions of one another – but at different points in their careers.

Kruschewsky is the younger and larger of the two, so it’s no surprise to see him favored on the betting lines. That said, I suspect that Holobaugh is a live underdog in this spot.

Aside from having more than enough ground skills to compete with Kruschewsky, Holobaugh is also an incredibly fast starter with some deceptive pop on the feet.

Couple that with Holobaugh’s experience edge and the chaos that the smaller octagon encourages, and I can’t help but take a flier on the American to score the upset.

The pick is Holobaugh by first-round TKO.

Kurt Holobaugh vs. Kaynan Kruschewsky UFC on ESPN 60 odds

The oddsmakers and the public are favoring the younger fighter, listing Kruschewsky -138 and Holobaugh +113 via FanDuel.

Kurt Holobaugh vs. Kaynan Kruschewsky UFC on ESPN 60 start time, how to watch

As the main card feature bout, Holobaugh and Kruschewsky are expected to make their walks to the cage at approximately 9:35 p.m. ET (6:35 p.m. local time in Las Vegas). The fight airs on ESPN and streams live on ESPN+.

Cody Durden vs. Bruno Silva prediction, pick, start time, odds for UFC on ESPN 60

Former flyweight training partners clash on the UFC on ESPN 60 main card in Las Vegas. Will Cody Durden or Bruno Silva emerge victorious?

[autotag]Cody Durden[/autotag] and [autotag]Bruno Silva[/autotag] meet Saturday on the main card of UFC on ESPN 60 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom.

Last event: 4-1-1
UFC main cards, 2024: 58-52-3

Cody Durden vs. Bruno Silva UFC on ESPN 60 preview

Durden (16-5-1 MMA, 5-3-1 UFC) competes for the first time in 2024, looking to bounce back from a submission loss to Tagir Ulanbekov at UFC 296 in December. The result ended a four-fight winning streak over JP Buys, Carlos Mota, Charles Johnson and Jake Hadley. … Silva (13-5-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) will also step into the octagon for the first time this year as he looks to make it four in a row. On his run of three-straight stoppages, he defeated Buys, Victor Rodriguez and Tyson Nam.

Cody Durden vs. Bruno Silva UFC on ESPN 60 expert pick, prediction

Filling out the main card is a flyweight showdown between Durden and Silva.

Even though I initially came into this matchup leaning toward Silva, I came away feeling differently after watching the tape.

I still believe shots like the front kick will serve Silva well in this contest, but I don’t know if he has the wrestling dictation or the submission skills to reliably tax Durden’s approach.

I also believe the smaller octagon will help Durden much more than it does Silva if said submission threats aren’t present.

I’m sure Silva accepted this fight with his former training partner because he believes he can beat him, but fights don’t necessarily play out the same way as they do in training.

It’s a reluctant pick, but I’ll take Durden to grind out a unanimous decision win.

Cody Durden vs. Bruno Silva UFC on ESPN 60 odds

Despite the oddsmakers technically opening the American as the favorite, public money has come in on the Brazilian and pushed this fight to a near pick’em, listing Durden -105 and Silva -115 via FanDuel.

Cody Durden vs. Bruno Silva UFC on ESPN 60 start time, how to watch

As the third fight on the main card, Durden and Silva are expected to make their walks to the cage at approximately 9:05 p.m. ET (6:05 p.m. local time in Las Vegas). The fight airs on ESPN and streams live on ESPN+.

Bill Algeo vs. Dooho Choi prediction, pick, start time, odds for UFC on ESPN 60

A fun featherweight scrap fills out the UFC on ESPN 60 main card. Will Bill Algeo prevent Dooho Choi from getting back on track?

[autotag]Bill Algeo[/autotag] and [autotag]Dooho Choi[/autotag] meet Saturday on the main card of UFC on ESPN 60 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom.

Last event: 4-1-1
UFC main cards, 2024: 58-52-3

Bill Algeo vs. Dooho Choi UFC on ESPN 60 preview

Algeo (18-8 MMA, 5-4 UFC) has a pattern of losing one and winning two over his past six fights. He enters his second fight of 2024 following a first-round TKO loss to Kyle Nelson. Before that, he won a unanimous decision win vs. Alexander Hernandez and submitted TJ Brown. … Choi (14-4-1 MMA, 3-3-1 UFC) will be hunting for his first win since December 2016. “The Korean Superboy” has failed to record a victory in four consecutive fights, losing three, and drawing with Nelson in his last appearance in February 2023. Prior to this rough stretch, Choi was virtually untouchable as a winner of 12 straight fights.

Bill Algeo vs. Dooho Choi UFC on ESPN 60 expert pick, prediction

Algeo is coming off an unfortunate stoppage that was arguably a tad bit early, but “Senior Perfecto” is always one to put on a show regardless of whether or not he wins or loses.

The same can be said for Choi, though it’s ultimately hard to know what to make of “The Korean Superboy” considering the inconsistency that’s plagued his career for the last eight or so years.

Although part of me would love to see Choi finally get back on track, I suspect that this fight could get ugly for him if he’s not able to put Algeo away early.

I’ll officially side with Algeo to survive the early storm and find a finish in Round 2.

Bill Algeo vs. Dooho Choi UFC on ESPN 60 odds

The oddsmakers and the public are siding with the American, listing Algeo -170 and Choi +138 via FanDuel.

Bill Algeo vs. Dooho Choi UFC on ESPN 60 start time, how to watch

As the second fight on the main card, Algeo and Choi are expected to make their walks to the cage at approximately 8:35 p.m. ET (5:35 p.m. local time in Las Vegas). The fight airs on ESPN and streams live on ESPN+.
