UFC on ESPN 27: Cory Sandhagen vs. TJ Dillashaw odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 27 fight between Cory Sandhagen and TJ Dillashaw, with MMA odds, picks, tips and predictions.

In a bantamweight bout in Saturday’s main event, Cory Sandhagen and TJ Dillashaw meet at UFC on ESPN 27 at the UFC’s APEX Facility in Las Vegas. Below, we analyze the UFC on ESPN 27 Sandhagen vs. Dillashaw odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The prelims start at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN/ESPN+, with the main card starting at 7 p.m. ET.

Sandhagen bounced back from a first-round submission loss to Aljamain Sterling at UFC 250, with a pair of KO/TKO victories against Marlon Moraes and Frankie Edgar. He needed just 28 seconds to dispose of Edgar last time out. Since arriving at the UFC level, he has seven wins in eight fights, including a 4-0 mark via KO/TKO and 1-1 record in submissions.

Dillashaw was dropped in 32 seconds in a title fight against Henry Cejudo last time out. To make matters worse, Dillashaw used a banned substance to prepare for that fight, and he was suspended for two years by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency. That fight against Cejudo was for the flyweight belt, and he voluntarily gave up his bantamweight title rather than being stripped.

Dillashaw wanted a title shot in his return, but the UFC offered up a top-five opponent in the main event instead.

UFC on ESPN 27 Sandhagen vs. Dillashaw: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Records: Sandhagen 14-2-0 | Dillashaw 17-4-0

Fight result (2-way line or money line)

Sandhagen looks to welcome back Dillashaw with a loss. He stands 5 inches taller than the challenger and has a three-inch reach advantage. In addition, he is in a rhythm, blowing past top-notch talent like Edgar and Moraes in recent fights.

Dillashaw might have some rust, and it remains to be seen how hungry he is after such a long layoff. We just don’t know what we’re getting from the disgraced former champ.

As such, playing SANDHAGEN BY KO/TKO, DQ OR SUBMISSION (+125) at plus-money is a much better play. Hopefully, he is able to grab the finish.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under (O/U)

We’ll get an early idea of Dillashaw’s cardio and fight, and I am thinking there is going to be quite a bit of rust. He is stepping back into the octagon in a high-profile event after a 30-month layoff.

UNDER 3.5 ROUNDS (-165) is the most reasonable estimate for this fight. While Dillashaw might take it slow while feeling out Sandhagen and himself in the early going, he isn’t likely to go all the way. It would be a major upset if Dillashaw were able to go long into the night after such a long hiatus.

UFC on ESPN 27: Kyler Phillips vs. Raulian Paiva odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 27 fight between Kyler Phillips and Raulian Paiva with MMA odds, picks, tips and predictions.

In a bantamweight bout on Saturday’s main card, Kyler Phillips and Raulian Paiva meet at UFC on ESPN 27 at the UFC’s APEX Facility in Las Vegas. Below, we analyze the UFC on ESPN 27 Phillips vs. Paiva odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The prelims start at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN/ESPN+, with the main card starting at 7 p.m. ET.

Phillips is a perfect 3-for-3 since arriving at the UFC level, pushing past Song Yadong last time out at UFC 259 March 6. He also scored a Round 2 KO/TKO win over Cameron Else before that fight. Phillips has posted a 5.32 significant strikes landed per minute at the UFC level, and he has a 2.88 takedown average. In addition, Phillips holds a three-inch reach advantage over Paiva.

Paiva lost his first two fights at the UFC level, including a first-round TKO – Doctor’s Stoppage against Rogerio Bontorin Aug. 10, 2019. He suffered a brutal gash to the right eyebrow that required stitches. He bounced back with a KO/TKO win in Round 2 over Mark De La Rosa in Rio Rancho, N.M., and he followed it up with a unanimous-decision win over Zhalgas Zhumagulov last time out to get right back on track.

UFC on ESPN 27 Phillips vs. Paiva: Odds and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 10:20 a.m. ET.

  • Fight result (2-way line): Phillips -300 (bet $300 to win $100) | Paiva +230 (bet $100 to win $230)
  • Over/Under: 2.5 rounds (Over -225 | Under +180)
  • Will the fight go the distance? (Yes -200 | No +165)

UFC on ESPN 27 Phillips vs. Paiva: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Records: Phillips 9-1-0 | Paiva 20-3-0

Fight result (2-way line or money line)

Phillips (-300) heads into this fight costing you three times your potential return on the 2-way line. That’s just too expensive, so get more specific instead.

Five of Phillips’ 10 career fights have ended via KO/TKO, and all five have been victories. That includes the second-round win over Else. As such, play PHILLIPS BY KO/TKO OR DQ (+400) on the 7-way line for a much, much better value.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under (O/U)

The books are expecting this one to go long, but I just don’t see it with the knockout potential on both sides. UNDER 2.5 ROUNDS (+180) is a value play with a chance to nearly double up, or playing NO (+165): WILL THE FIGHT GO THE DISTANCE? is also a decent play.

UFC on ESPN 27: Darren Elkins vs. Darrick Minner odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 27 fight between Darren Elkins and Darrick Minner with MMA odds, picks, tips and predictions.

In a featherweight bout on Saturday’s main card, Darren Elkins and Darrick Minner meet at UFC on ESPN 27 at the UFC’s APEX Facility in Las Vegas. Below, we analyze the UFC on ESPN 27 Elkins vs. Minner odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The prelims start at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN/ESPN+, with the main card starting at 7 p.m. ET.

Elkins enters the octagon standing three inches taller than Minner with a 2.5-inch reach advantage. However, he also enters with a 1-4 record across his past five bouts. Although he did earn a third-round submission victory against Eduardo Garagorri last time out, Nov. 7, to stop the tailspin.

Minner has won two straight fights and four of his past five overall, including a solid unanimous-decision win over Charles Rosa Feb. 20. He has registered a strong 79.21 significant strikes accuracy percentage in his three fights at the UFC level.

UFC on ESPN 27 Elkins vs. Minner: Odds and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 9:55 a.m. ET.

  • Fight result (2-way line): Elkins +130 (bet $100 to win $130) | Minner -155 (bet $155 to win $100)
  • Over/Under: 2.5 rounds (Over -120 | Under +100)
  • Will the fight go the distance? (Yes +105 | No -125)

UFC on ESPN 27 Elkins vs. Minner: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Records: Elkins 26-9-0 | Minner 26-11-0

Fight result (2-way line or money line)

MINNER (-155) is the play in this potential Fight of the Night. This bout has the potential to be a good one with Minner tremendous in the ground game, and Elkins (+130) sharp in the technical aspects, wowing the judges.

I think Minner’s ground game wins out, however. In 37 career professional fights, he is 22-8 via submission. His signature moves are the guillotine and rear-naked choke while he is susceptible to the triangle armbar. Since arriving at the UFC level, he has 3.60 submission average and a 62.50 takedown accuracy percentage, too.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under (O/U)

I also like MINNER BY KO/TKO, DQ OR SUBMISSION (+165) at plus money on the 5-way line.

In addition, UNDER 2.5 ROUNDS (+100) at even money is also a good bet as well as NO (-125): WILL THE FIGHT GO THE DISTANCE?

UFC on ESPN 27: Miranda Maverick vs. Maycee Barber odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 27 fight between Miranda Maverick and Maycee Barber with MMA odds, picks, tips and predictions.

In a women’s flyweight bout on Saturday’s main card, Miranda Maverick and Maycee Barber meet at UFC on ESPN 27 at the UFC’s APEX Facility in Las Vegas. Below, we analyze the UFC on ESPN 27 Maverick vs. Barber odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The prelims start at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN/ESPN+, with the main card starting at 7 p.m. ET.

Maverick enters with victories in each of her two fights at the UFC level, and she is on a seven-bout win streak overall. At UFC 260 in her most recent showing she was able to push past Gillian Robertson by unanimous decision after dumping Liana Jojua by TKO – Doctor’s Stoppage after five minutes at UFC 254.

Barber, a.k.a. “The Future”, needs a win badly if she wants a future at the UFC level. She has lost back-to-back unanimous-decision fights against Alexa Grasso and Roxanne Modafferi in her two previous fights after a 3-0 start in the UFC, all by way of KO/TKO.

UFC on ESPN 27 Maverick vs. Barber: Odds and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 9:40 a.m. ET.

  • Fight result (2-way line): Maverick -150 (bet $150 to win $100) | Barber +125 (bet $100 to win $125)
  • Over/Under: 2.5 rounds (Over -225 | Under +185)
  • Will the fight go the distance? (Yes -200 | No +170)

UFC on ESPN 27 Maverick vs. Barber: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Records: Maverick 11-2-0 | Barber 8-2-0

Fight result (2-way line or money line)

MAVERICK (-150) is a moderate favorite at this price on the 2-way line as she looks to deal Barber (+125) a third consecutive setback. She has been on a roll last losing Feb. 15, 2019, in the Invicta FC 34 event against DeAnna Bennett.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under (O/U)

If you’re looking to get a little more specific, playing MAVERICK ON POINTS (+115) at plus-money is a decent value. Two of her past three fights have needed the judges to get involved while six of her 13 career fights have ended up going the distance. For Barber, she has two straight losses via UD.

In addition, playing OVER 2.5 ROUNDS (-225) is a little on the expensive side, but worth a small-unit play. YES (-200): WILL THE FIGHT GO THE DISTANCE? is also a recommended play.

UFC on ESPN 27: Adrian Yanez vs. Randy Costa odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 27 fight between Adrian Yanez and Randy Costa with MMA odds, picks, tips and predictions.

In a bantamweight bout on Saturday’s main card, Adrian Yanez and Randy Costa meet at UFC on ESPN 27 at the UFC’s APEX Facility in Las Vegas. Below, we analyze the UFC on ESPN 27 Yanez vs. Costa odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The prelims start at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN/ESPN+, with the main card starting at 7 p.m. ET.

Yanez has won each of his past three fights via KO/TKO, including each of his two official fights at the UFC level and his first-round KO of Brady Huang at Dana White’s Contender Series.

Five of his past six professional bouts have finished inside the distance with all five of those bouts also resulting in knockout victories. Overall, 10 of his 16 fights have been by stoppage with an 8-0 record on KO/TKOs and 2-0 via submission.

Costa will be making his fourth appearance at the UFC level. After a submission loss to Brandon Davis at UFC 236 in his debut April 13, 2019, he has bounced back with a pair of first-round KO/TKO wins. That includes a 41-second KO/TKO on a powerful head kick against Journey Newson last time out Sept. 19.

UFC on ESPN 27 Yanez vs. Costa: Odds and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 9:10 a.m. ET.

  • Fight result (2-way line): Yanez -250 (bet $250 to win $100) | Costa +195 (bet $100 to win $195)
  • Over/Under: 1.5 rounds (Over -135 | Under +110)
  • Will the fight go the distance? (Yes +200 | No -250)

UFC on ESPN 27 Yanez vs. Costa: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Records: Yanez 13-3-0 | Costa 6-1-0

Fight result (2-way line or money line)

Yanez (-250) will cost you two-and-a-half times your potential return, and that’s just not a good investment. Over the long term, that’s a losing betting strategy. Instead, let’s get a bit more specific.

A better bet is not specifying a particular winner but going with the KO/TKO/DQ (-175) for the fight finish.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 2.5 ROUNDS (-175) is the slam-dunk play in this particular bout. UNDER 1.5 ROUNDS (+110) is also worth a small-unit play, but is a bit more risky, even with the KO/TKO history of each of these fighters.

If you want to play it safe, it will cost you, but NO (-250): WILL THE FIGHT GO THE DISTANCE? is an almost certainty.
