I am feeling the underdog VANDERAA (+155) for the upset special in this battle of heavyweights.

Tafa (-185) heads into this one with just a lone victory in three fights since arriving at the UFC level, including a split-decision loss against Carlos Felipe last time out on Jan. 16. That distance fight was his first time in six career bouts that he did not have a KO/TKO win or loss.

Vanderaa made his UFC debut on Feb. 20, 2021, and he was dropped by Serghei Spivac in the second round. The American will be looking to use his four-inch height and six-inch reach advantages to his benefit.

Tafa is a punching machine, so Vanderaa will need to show good defense, something he wasn’t able to do against Spivac. If he can keep the fight upright, he’ll score the upset against the southpaw.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 1.5 ROUNDS (-120) is a good bet, as both of these fighters are in need of a win, as they look to build momentum in their fledgling UFC careers. So they likely won’t take many chances early on.

In addition, No (-300): Will the fight go the distance? seems like a great play, and almost a certainty.

But risking three times your potential return on a standalone bet is not a good play. If you can involve it in a big parlay, that might be worth it.

XIAONAN (-120) is the slight favorite, as she looks to continue her meteoric rise in the division.

Since her debut win over Kailin Curran on Nov. 25, 2017, the Chinese fighter has rattled off six straight unanimous-decision wins, continually wowing the judges with her technical skill.

Xiaonan has three straight impressive wins over Angela Hill, Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Claudia Gadelha.

Esparza has won four straight decisions since a two-bout losing streak, including a split-decision loss to Gadelha.

Over/Under (O/U)

Yes (-300): Will the fight go the distance? is rather expensive, as is Over 2.5 Rounds (-450).

It’s a near certainty that this fight goes the distance, as Esparza has not had a stoppage in each of her past four fights, and all six of Xiaonan’s fights have gone the distance.

I like the latter to win, so play XIAONAN ON POINTS (+160), as that’s the way to go in this one.

FONT (-120) heads into this fight looking to keep Garbrandt (+100) at bay with his six-inch reach advantage.

He’ll also be trying to keep the fight upright, using his 5.21-to-3.35 significant strikes landed per minute advantage to work his opponent over.

However, if the fight does go to the canvas, Font can more than handle himself there, too.

In fact, in 23 career professional bouts, Font has five submission results, winning four times. He also has eight KO/TKO wins, and he has never been knocked out, so he gets stoppages frequently, and is almost always on the winning end.

Garbrandt bounced Raphael Assuncao last time out with a second-round knockout, slapping the brakes on a three-bout skid.

Of course, two of those losses were title fights against TJ Dillashaw, and another was a high-profile loss to Pedro Munhoz, so nothing to be ashamed about. Thirteen of Garbrandt’s fights have resulted in KO/TKO, with 10 wins and three losses.

No (-275): Will the fight go the distance? isn’t a good play here. That’s a little too rich for my blood. I actually think Font and Garbrandt will brawl for a bit, and playing OVER 1.5 ROUNDS (-175) is a little bit better of a play.

This is a championship-caliber fight, and it will not go the distance. However, it’s also not going to end in the first 4:30, either.

The 30-year-old SPENCER (-190) is looking to bounce back after a title-fight loss to Amanda Nunes last time out at UFC 250 June 6, 2020. My personal money line limit is usually -180, but sometimes you have to make exceptions, and this is one of those times. Spencer has the much better pedigree, and while she is 2-2 since landing at the UFC level, her difficulty of opponent has been much more than Dumont. Look for “FeeNom” to roll.

Dumont was knocked out in her UFC debut Feb. 29, 2020, against Megan Anderson before bouncing back with a unanimous-decision win over Ashlee Evans-Smith last time out Nov. 28.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 2.5 ROUNDS (-175) is the best play on the board, as Dumont went the distance last time out, and Spencer has involved the judges in two of her past three fights. In addition, YES (-150): WILL THE FIGHT GO THE DISTANCE? is also worth a look.

Also, I think SPENCER ON POINTS (+180) is a strong play with a chance to nearly double up.

ALGEO (-125) has split a pair of fights since making his UFC debut Aug. 29. He has been a punching machine in those two fights, posting 6.80 significant strikes landed per minute, while landing 63.87 percent of those strikes. Both of those fights have ended up as unanimous decisions.

Ramos is looking to bounce back after a KO/TKO loss in the first round against Lerone Murphy last time out July 15, 2020. He has been knocked out twice in his past four fights, and his defense is a huge concern. Algeo might not be able to knock him out, but he is likely to register a knockdown or two, and that will wow the judges.

Over 2.5 Rounds (-200) is a little too expensive for my liking, but playing YES (-175): WILL THE FIGHT GO THE DISTANCE? is a little bit better of a value. In addition, I think ALGEO ON POINTS (+175) for a better value.

HERNANSSON (-155) steps into the octagon looking to dump the American fighter Shahbazyan (+130). He enters with a three-inch reach advantage, and he holds a 5.03-to-3.85 significant strikes landed per minute lead. Shahbazyan was beaten badly in the third round of the main event against Derek Brunson Aug. 1, last time out.

Shahbazyan has been better on the ground, holding a 4.44-to-1.96 takedown average with a slight takedown accuracy advantage, too.

Hermansson has alternated loses and wins across his past four fights, but he has fought the cream of the crop in the division. Losses to Marvin Vettori and Jared Cannonier is nothing to be ashamed about, and he has wins over Kelvin Gastelum and Jacare Souza during the four-fight span. He is capable of beating anyone at this level, and he’ll be hungry for a win after a stunning knockdown in the first round, and a unanimous decision to Vettori in the main event Dec. 5, 2020.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 2.5 ROUNDS (-175) is a little on the expensive side, but that’s a nice play. Nine of Hermansson’s past 11 fights have finished inside the distance, while each of Shahbazyan’s past four fights have ended in stoppage with three victories.

I also like HERMANSSON BY KO/TKO, DQ OR SUBMISSION (+130) for method of victory on the 5-way line at plus-money. In addition, I don’t think this one ends in the first round, but play ROUND 2 (+300) and ROUND 3 (+500) for the fight finish. You do not have to declare a specific winner, but if the fight ends in Rounds 2 or 3, you will lose one end, but still be well ahead.
