In a 5-round bantamweight championship bout on the main card, Aljamain Sterling and Sean O’Malley meet at UFC 292 at TD Garden in Boston Saturday. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the UFC 292: Sterling vs. O’Malley odds, and make our expert picks and predictions.

Records: Sterling (23-3-0) | O’Malley (16-1-0)

The early prelims begin at 6:30 p.m. ET, and can be viewed on ESPN+. The prelims start at 8 p.m. ET, and can be viewed on ESPN/ESPN+, while the main card starts at 10 p.m. ET on Pay-Per-View.

Sterling took the strap from Petr Yan at UFC 259, and he has defended it on 3 occasionswinning twice via split decision. That includes his last defense and Henry Cejudo at UFC 288 in early May.

Sterling is the champ, and he has been dominant, rattling off 9 straight victories since a 1st-round KO/TKO to Marlon Moraes in Dec. 2017. However, he has ended up going the distance in 5 of those 9 bouts, including 2 narrow split-decision wins in his past 3 outings.

O’Malley has 4 victories in the past 5 outings, with a no contest against Pedro Munhoz at UFC 276. He picked up a split-decision win over Yan last time out at UFC 280, while registering 3 KO/TKO wins in 2021.

The champ gives up an inch in reach advantage, but he has the significant experience and has fought some of the best in the division. O’Malley has had mixed results against some of the best at the top of the welterweight class, topping Yan, while falling to Marlon Vera at UFC 252. This will be a huge step up for “Sugar”.

UFC 292: Sterling vs. O’Malley picks and predictions

Fight result (2-way line or moneyline)

O’MALLEY (+200) is a strong play for a chance to double up. It obviously won’t be easy, but the challenger is known for his speed and tremendous amount of punches. He has posted 7.43 significant strikes per minute, to the more measured 4.78 for Sterling (-250).

O’Malley is just as accurate in the strikes category, too, posting 61.29% to 61.32% for the champ. Sterling is going to be dodging and weaving, trying to find a way to get Sugar to the canvas. That’s where Sterling holds a significant advantage, posting a 2.02 takedown average and 0.80 submission average. For O’Malley to win, he needs to keep this fight upright, or it could turn on a dime.

Over/Under (O/U)

YES (+165): WILL THE FIGHT GO THE DISTANCE? is worth a roll of the dice.

Sterling has ended up going the distance in 2 of his past 3 title fights, and 9 of his past 14 UFC bouts overall. He is precise, he makes the judges notice his technique, and he is a very smart fighter. However, O’Malley is quick, wild and powerful. He has been involved in 6 KO/TKO results in the past 8 UFC fights, winning 5 of those. However, when he faced a significant upgrade in opponent against Yan, he ended up going the distance. Sterling is a top-notch fighter who will make O’Malley go all the way if he wants to win.

UFC 292: Zhang Weili vs. Amanda Lemos odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s UFC 292 odds between Zhang Weili vs. Amanda Lemos with MMA picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

In a 5-round women’s strawweight championship bout on the main card, Zhang Weili and Amanda Lemos meet at UFC 292 at TD Garden in Boston Saturday. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the UFC 292: Zhang vs. Lemos odds, and make our expert picks and predictions.

Records: Zhang (23-3-0) | Lemos (13-2-1)

The early prelims begin at 6:30 p.m. ET, and can be viewed on ESPN+. The prelims start at 8 p.m. ET, and can be viewed on ESPN/ESPN+, while the main card starts at 10 p.m. ET on Pay-Per-View.

Zhang lost her championship belt at UFC 261 against Rose Namajunas, as she was knocked out in short order in Round 1. She got another crack at it at UFC 268, and went the distance, falling via split decision.

After knocking out Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 275, and sending her to retirement, Zhang got a crack at Carla Esparza for another title shot. She reclaimed the strap last time out at UFC 281, winning via 2nd-round submission.

Lemos gets her first title shot after a pair of stoppages against Michelle Waterson-Gomez and Marina Rodriguez. In fact, the Brazilian fighter has ended up going the distance just once in the past 6 outings, winning 3 times via KO/TKO, while going 1-1 by way of submission.

The 36-year-old Lemos holds a 2-inch reach advantage, while Zhang owns a 5.79-to-4.51 significant strikes landed per minute advantage. Lemos is a little more accurate, landing 61.19% of her significant strikes, to just 53.44% for the champ. Zhang has a 1.97 takedown average, to just 1.12 for Lemos, but the challenger is much more accurate in that department, with a 55.56% takedown accuracy percentage to Zhang’s 34.21%.

  • Fight result (2-way line): Zhang -350 (bet $350 to win $100) | Lemos +260 (bet $100 to win $260)
  • Over/Under: 3.5 rounds (Over +165 | Under -225)
  • Will the fight go the distance? (Yes +250 | No -375)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

UFC 292: Zhang vs. Lemos picks and predictions

Fight result (2-way line or moneyline)

This will be quite a bout, and Zhang (-350) will get all she can handle from the challenger Lemos (+260). In fact, it’s tempting to take “Amandinha” for the upset.

However, Zhang has that championship pedigree, and she knows what it takes to beat everyone but Namajunas.

ZHANG ON POINTS (+350) is worth a look, rather than playing her straight up, and it’s a good bet to multiply your initial wager by 3 1/2 times.

Over/Under (O/U)

YES (+250): WILL THE FIGHT GO THE DISTANCE? is not what the books are thinking, but it’s a great opportunity to more than double up.

Lemos hasn’t gone the distance very much since arriving at the UFC level, but this will easily be her biggest test. Zhang has ended up going the distance in 4 of her 9 fights at the UFC level, and this title bout will be no different, as she uses her experience and reach advantage to keep Lemos at bay.

UFC 292: Marlon Vera vs. Pedro Munhoz odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s UFC 292 odds between Marlon Vera vs. Pedro Munhoz, with MMA picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

In a 3-round bantamweight bout on the main card, Marlon Vera and Pedro Munhoz meet at UFC 292 at TD Garden in Boston Saturday. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the UFC 292: Vera vs. Munhoz odds, and make our expert picks and predictions.

Records: Vera (20-8-1) | Munhoz (20-7-0)

The early prelims begin at 6:30 p.m. ET, and can be viewed on ESPN+. The prelims start at 8 p.m. ET, and can be viewed on ESPN/ESPN+, while the main card starts at 10 p.m. ET on Pay-Per-View.

Vera is looking to bounce back after losing the main event at UFC San Antonio in late March against Cory Sandhagen. That setback stopped a 4-bout win streak for the Ecuadoran fighter.

Vera, a.k.a. “Chito”, has ended up going the distance in 4 of his past 6 fights, winning 2 of those bouts. He has a pair of KO/TKO wins over Dominick Cruz and Frankie Edgar during the span.

Munhoz takes the walk looking to build upon a unanimous-decision win over Chris Gutierrez last time out in mid-April. It was his first win after a pair of UD losses to Jose Aldo and Cruz, as well as a no contest against Sean O’Malley at UFC 276.

Munhoz has ended up going the distance in 6 of his past 7 bouts, with the no-decision as the only exception.

Vera enters the octagon with an impressive 5.5-inch reach advantage, while Munhoz holds a 5.30-to-4.09 significant strikes landed per minute advantage. However, Chito lands way more of those strikes, hitting at a 53.29% clip, while Munhoz lands just 45.36% of his significant strikes.

UFC 292: Vera vs. Munhoz odds

Provided by BetMGM Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 9:15 a.m. ET.

  • Fight result (2-way line): Vera -200 (bet $200 to win $100) | Munhoz +165 (bet $100 to win $165)
  • Will the fight go the distance? (Yes -300 | No +210)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

UFC 292: Vera vs. Munhoz picks and predictions

Fight result (2-way line or moneyline)

Vera (-200) is a little too expensive to bet on the 2-way line, costing you 2 times your potential return.

The Ecuadoran champ was on track for a title shot until losing a narrow split-decision against Sandhagen last time out. He had fought in 3 straight fight night main events, winning 2 of them against top-notch talent.

The favorite has ended up going the distance in 4 of the past 6 fights, while Munhoz has needed the judges to decide a winner in 6 of the past 7 fights, and his no contest against “Sugar” Sean O’Malley was headed that way, too. The best play is to go with VERA ON POINTS (-105) at near even-money against the Brazilian.

Over/Under (O/U)

Yes (-300): Will the fight go the distance? is just way too pricey, costing 3 times your potential return. You must wager $10 for every $3.33 of winnings. That’s just too much risk for not enough reward.

AVOID.
