The UFC returns to pay-per-view this Saturday with UFC 263, which means the popular “Embedded” fight week series is back as well.

UFC 263 takes place at Gila River Arena in Glendale, Ariz. The main card airs live on ESPN + pay-per-view, with prelims on ESPN and early prelims on ESPN+.

The main event is middleweight champion Israel Adesanya (20-1 MMA, 9-1 UFC) facing Marvin Vettori (17-3-1 MMA, 7-2-1 UFC) in a rematch from their split decision in 2018. This time, the stakes are much higher with the title on the line.

The co-main event is a title rematch in the flyweight division, as champ Deiveson Figueiredo (20-1-1 MMA, 9-1-1 UFC) looks to defend his title against Brandon Moreno (18-5-2 MMA, 6-2-2 UFC). Their first meeting was one of the best fights of 2020, resulting in a draw.

The third featured bout is a non-title, five-round fight between fan favorite Nate Diaz (20-12 MMA, 15-10 UFC) and Leon Edwards (18-3 MMA, 10-2 UFC), which was originally scheduled to take place at UFC 262.

The sixth episode of “Embedded” follows the featured competitors during fight week. Here’s the description from YouTube:

Champ Israel Adesanya enjoys the pre-fight mind-games. Leon Edwards rolls off the pounds; Brandon Moreno sweats them out. The athletes make weight Friday morning and face off for fans that afternoon.

UFC 263 video: Dana White on alert in Israel Adesanya vs. Marvin Vettori faceoff

The stage is now set for the middleweight title rematch between Israel Adesanya and Marvin Vettori in the UFC 263 main event.

GLENDALE, Ariz. – The stage is set for the middleweight title rematch between [autotag]Israel Adesanya[/autotag] and [autotag]Marvin Vettori[/autotag] in the UFC 263 main event.

After Adesanya (20-1 MMA, 9-1 UFC) and Vettori (17-4-1 MMA, 7-2-1 UFC) made weight on Friday morning, they had the final pre-fight staredown at ceremonial weigh-ins, which took place at Gila Rivera Arena, the same venue that hosts Saturday’s pay-per-view main card following prelims on ESPN and ESPN+.

Adesanya won the first fight with Vettori by split decision at UFC on FOX 29 in April 2018 – coincidentally in the same venue – and now both sides are searching for a definitive ending.

Much like their faceoff following the pre-fight press conference earlier in the week, the champion and challenger were spirited, but UFC president Dana White wasn’t letting them get anywhere close to each other.

UFC 263 video: Deiveson Figueiredo shows respect to Brandon Moreno in final faceoff

There was no physicality between Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno during their final UFC 263 faceoff.

GLENDALE, Ariz. – There was no physicality between [autotag]Deiveson Figueiredo[/autotag] and [autotag]Brandon Moreno[/autotag] during their final UFC 263 faceoff.

After Figueiredo (20-1-1 MMA, 9-1-1 UFC) shoved Moreno (18-5-2 MMA, 6-2-2 UFC) at the pre-fight press conference, both men were on their best behavior in the last staredown before they rematch for the flyweight title.

Both men successfully made weight Friday morning (with Figueiredo coming down to the wire), and on Friday night they got a last look at each other at ceremonial weigh-ins, which took place at Gila River Arena, the same venue that hosts UFC 263, which has a main card that airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and ESPN+.

Figueiredo and Moreno fought to a draw in their first meeting at UFC 256 in December, and they have clear intentions of finding a definitive end when they run it back.

Leon Edwards and Nate Diaz have completed their final faceoff before Saturday’s UFC 263 showdown.

GLENDALE, Ariz. – [autotag]Leon Edwards[/autotag] and [autotag]Nate Diaz[/autotag] have completed their final faceoff before Saturday’s UFC 263 showdown.

After both men made the welterweight limit on Friday morning, Edwards (18-3 MMA, 10-2 UFC) and Diaz (20-12 MMA, 15-10 UFC) got a final look at each other at ceremonial weigh-ins, which took place at Gila River Arena, the same venue which hosts the pay-per-view main card following prelims on ESPN and ESPN+.

Diaz will see his first octagon action since November 2019 in the fight, which is the first five-round fight in company history that’s neither a main event nor a title fight. Edwards, meanwhile, will attempt to extend his unbeaten streak to 10 fights.

Which UFC 263 fight is poised to be the show-stealer we’re talking about Sunday morning?

UFC 263 is jam-packed with killer fights atop the bill Saturday in Arizona. But which one will be the most talked about afterward?

UFC 263 is jam-packed with killer fights atop the bill Saturday in Arizona.

Every pay-per-view, there’s a fight that winds up with the most headlines afterward. And at Gila River Arena in Glendale, there are two title fights, plus a five-round non-title scrap – a first in UFC history for a non-main event, not-title fight – all vying for attention.

In the headliner, middleweight champion [autotag]Israel Adesanya[/autotag] (20-1 MMA, 9-1 UFC) meets [autotag]Marvin Vettori[/autotag] (17-3-1 MMA, 7-2-1 UFC) in a rematch for the title. In the co-feature, flyweight champ [autotag]Deiveson Figueiredo[/autotag] (20-1-1 MMA, 9-1-1 UFC) takes on [autotag]Brandon Moreno[/autotag] (18-5-2 MMA, 6-2-2 UFC) in another rematch. And then there’s the five-rounded between [autotag]Nate Diaz[/autotag] (20-12 MMA, 15-10 UFC) and [autotag]Leon Edwards[/autotag] (18-3 MMA, 10-2 UFC).

So is one of these the show-stealer? Or will it be something else farther down the card? That’s the question we posed to our “Spinning Back Clique” panel of George Garcia, Danny Segura and Matthew Wells, who talked about their picks with host John Morgan.

Video: Deiveson Figueiredo makes weight at buzzer for Brandon Moreno rematch at UFC 263

The flyweight championship rematch between Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno at UFC 263 has the green light.

PHOENIX – The flyweight championship rematch between [autotag]Deiveson Figueiredo[/autotag] and [autotag]Brandon Moreno[/autotag] at UFC 263 has the green light.

After they fought to a draw in December, Figueiredo (20-1-1 MMA, 9-1-1 UFC) and Moreno (18-5-2 MMA, 6-2-2 UFC) will run it back on Saturday after both men successfully made weight.

The bout became official during Friday’s UFC 263 official weigh-in, where reigning titleholder Figueiredo made WEIGHT, while challenger Moreno was 125 pounds.

Moreno was among the first to scale, but it was a much longer weight for Figueiredo, who finally stepped on the scale with just 40 seconds remaining in the two-hour window.

The rematch serves as the co-main event of UFC 263, which takes place at Gila Rivera Arena in Glendale, Ariz., with a main card that airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and ESPN+.

There was plenty of wiggle room on the scale, too, because Adesanya came in at 183.5 pounds and Vettori was 184.5 pounds.

Vettori was among the first to weigh in, while Adesanya came in roughly one hour into the two-hour window.
