Cal State Fullerton vs. UC Santa Barbara picks and predictions

Prediction

UC Santa Barbara 69, Cal State Fullerton 66

Moneyline

UCSB (-140) is worth a play if you don’t want to fiddle around with the points in what should be a very close championship game. They’re not priced out of line.

UCSB is an efficient shooting team, hitting 49.5% from the field, which is 7th in the country. It shines defensively too, allowing just 65.4 points per game (49th).

Fullerton has been on quite the roll lately, and it is making bettors who took a chance at +500 to win the tournament prior to the start look very smart. However, the Gauchos are going to rain on that potential windfall.

Against the spread

UCSB -2.5 (-110) is a strong play. The Gauchos are 18-7-1 ATS in the past 26 games overall and 3-0-1 ATS in their past 4 neutral-site outings. They’re also 4-0 ATS in the past 4 against winning teams.

The favorite is 13-6 ATS in the past 19 meetings between these programs and while Fullerton has had a nice ride, UCSB will dispatch it in the final.

Over/Under

OVER 129.5 (-110) is the lean, but it might come down to late free throws to get the total over the hump.

The Over is 5-1 in the past 6 games overall for the Titans and has cashed in 14 of the past 17 games for the Gauchos. The Over is 7-2 in the past 9 for UCSB after a cover, and 5-1 in its last 6 games against teams with a winning percentage over .600.

Long Beach State at UC Santa Barbara odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Long Beach State at UC Santa Barbara odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Long Beach State Beach (15-13, 9-7 Big West) and UC Santa Barbara Gauchos (20-7, 11-5) meet Thursday at The Thunderdome (UCSB Events Center) in Santa Barbara, Calif. Tip-off is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Long Beach vs. UCSB game odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Long Beach has dropped 2 straight games and 3 of its past 4 both straight up and against the spread (ATS). The Over has cashed in 4 of the past 5 games for the Beach, too.

These teams met in Long Beach on Feb. 9, with the Gauchos coming away with a 75-72 win and covering as 1.5-point favorites on the road as the Over cashed.

UCSB is a 20-win team but has dropped 3 straight games, going 0-3 ATS during the skid and 2-5 ATS its past 7 games overall. The Over is 8-1 in UCSB’s previous 9 contests, with UCSB allowing 70 or more points in 6 in a row.

Long Beach State at UCSB picks and predictions

Prediction

UCSB 75, Long Beach State 71

Moneyline

The payout for UCSB (-230) is too steep and Long Beach State (+175) isn’t worth pursuing in what should be a very close game.

AVOID.

Stream select live college basketball games and full replays: Get ESPN+

Against the spread

LONG BEACH STATE +5.5 (-115) is worth a look, but play it lightly.

The Beach is 6-1 ATS across their past 7 games following a non-cover, while going 4-1 ATS in their past 5 after a straight-up loss.

On the flip side, UCSB -5.5 (-105) has managed to cover just twice in its past 7 games overall. And the home team is just 3-10 ATS in the past 13 meetings in this series, too.

Over/Under

UNDER 147.5 (-110) is the lean, but go only with a half-unit wager at most.

The Under is 16-6 in the past 22 for Long Beach against teams with a winning overall record, while going 5-1 in the past 6 after a non-cover.

For UCSB, the Over has been a frequent occurrence lately, but the Under is 8-3 in its past 11 against teams with a winning overall mark.

UC Santa Barbara vs. Creighton odds: Creighton moderate favorites in Round 1

Previewing Saturday’s UC Santa Barbara Gauchos vs. Creighton Blue Jays odds and lines during their March Madness Round 1 matchup.

The 12th-seeded UC Santa Barbara Gauchos (22-4) meet the fifth-seeded Creighton Blue Jays (20-8) at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. ET tip-off as the NCAA Tournament begins March Madness season.

Below, we look at the early March Madness Round 1 matchup UC Santa Barbara-Creighton odds and lines. Will one of these teams end up as this year’s National Champion? Don’t forget to check out all of the teams’ March Madness odds.

UCSB is a personal favorite of mine, as I watch its games quite frequently, and even rep the school wearing a hat in my home state of North Carolina. The Gauchos quietly picked up 22 victories during the regular season, and they won each of their three Big West tourney games by eight or more points, covering two of the outings. Their last setback was at UC Riverside on Feb. 27, as the Highlanders avenged a heartbreaking loss the night before. Prior to that, the Gauchos hadn’t lost since a back-to-back at UC Irvine Dec. 27-28. UCSB enjoyed a 9-2 ATS run from Jan. 15-Feb. 26 before closing out the regular season on an 0-3 ATS skid.

UCSB is making its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2011. They have won just once in six previous appearances, topping Houston in the first round of the 1990 installment as a 9-seed, 70-66, before bowing out to top-seeded Michigan State by four points in the second round. The past two appearances for the Gauchos have resulted in a pair of losses by an average of 22.5 points.

Creighton came up short in the Big East final, falling hard to Cinderella story Georgetown and head coach Patrick Ewing by a 73-48 score. It was easily the worst loss of the season for the Blue Jays, who also fell by seven at home to the Hoyas back on Feb. 3. The Blue Jays spent plenty of time in the rankings this season and were in the NCAA Tournament regardless, but the loss to the Hoyas was rather alarming. They’re just 3-3 SU across the past six, with three of those losses by eight or more points.

The Jays haven’t had a very good recent history in the NCAA Tournament, at least against the number. They’re just 1-5-1 ATS in the past seven as a favorite in the Big Dance, and 1-10-1 ATS in the previous 12 appearances overall in the tournament.
