The UCLA Bruins football program is in the thick of a new coaching search after Chip Kelly left for Ohio State.
Which direction they go in remains to be seen, and a lot of candidates have been linked as possible choices. However, everything has been kept hidden from UCLA’s side, so nobody knows exactly where they go.
One intriguing name is Stanford head coach Troy Taylor, as Bruce Feldman of The Athletic noted in his latest intel (subscription required).
Jarmond also has some interest in Stanford’s Troy Taylor. The 55-year-old two-time Big Sky Conference Coach of the Year had a rough debut season with the Cardinal, going 3-9. That included a 42-7 home loss to UCLA. But he is a good offensive coach and did an impressive job with the Sacramento State Hornets, posting a 30-8 record.
Taylor was at Sacramento State before going to Stanford and making the big jump to the Pac-12 Conference (and the ACC next season).
Taylor leaving Stanford to go to UCLA and the Big Ten Conference would be quite the move, but it appears Martin Jarmond is casting a wide net to find Chip Kelly’s replacement.
