4-star receiver projected to commit to Georgia

Multiple experts have projected a top in-state receiver to commit to Georgia football over the past week.

Four-star receiver Travis Smith Jr. has been projected by multiple experts to commit to Georgia over the past week. Both 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong and Benjamin Wolk over the past week have predicted that the Dawgs will land the coveted 6-foot-4, 191-pound pass catcher, who is currently the 11th ranked player at the position in the class of 2025.

Smith is an Atlanta native who caught 843 yards on 53 receptions last season along with 11 touchdowns for Westlake High School in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a dual sport athlete, also playing for the Westlake basketball team. In addition to Georgia, he has made visits to Tennessee, Alabama, and Auburn.

Smith’s primary recruiter on the Georgia staff is receivers coach James Coley, who has quickly reacclimated back into his role as a recruiter for the Dawgs since being hired away from South Carolina to replace Bryan McClendon. The Dawgs’ 2025 class currently has five commitments, with none at the wide receiver position.

4-star WR Travis Smith schedules Georgia football visit

Georgia WR target Travis Smith will visit the Bulldogs this spring

In-state 2025 wide receiver Travis Smith Jr. will visit Georgia football this spring. The four-star wideout will be in Athens on April 6 while the Bulldogs will be participating in spring practice. Georgia’s spring game is the following weekend on April 13.

Smith (6-foot-4, 290 pounds) plays for Westlake High School in Atlanta. He is rated as the No. 25 wide receiver, the No. 26 player in the state and the No. 197 prospect overall in his class, per 247Sports Composite.

Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs have already made a good impression on Smith, who included UGA among his top eight schools on Feb. 11. Smith will choose from among Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Colorado and Georgia Tech.

Smith will also take more visits this spring, including stops at some of his top schools. He will be at Alabama on March 8, Auburn on March 23, Georgia Tech on March 30 and Tennessee on April 13.

It would benefit Georgia to hire a new wide receivers coach ahead of Smith’s April 6 visit. Bryan McClendon left for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week, opening a large void on UGA’s offensive staff.
