Former LSU defensive end Travez Moore announces destination

Ex-LSU DE Travez Moore has found his next landing spot.

Travez Moore was a four-star signee for the LSU Tigers back in the 2018 recruiting class. A 6-foot-4, 246-pound defensive end from Bastrop High in Bastrop, Louisiana, Moore never found his footing with the Tigers.

On Nov. 11, Moore announced he was entering the transfer portal. Moore had one season of eligibility remaining.

On Tuesday, Moore announced on Twitter he would be spending the rest of his collegiate career at Arizona State.

Before coming to Baton Rouge, Moore played at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, Mississippi. He appeared in three games for the Tigers in 2018. He would play in two games for LSU in 2019 and was set for a bigger role on a depleted defense in 2020.

However, that larger role never materialized as Moore played in three games, making three tackles, including one sack, before departing last month.

Moore plans to enroll at Arizona State in January.

Moore’s time in Baton Rouge was short as he played in just four games for the Tigers, including two this year. This year for LSU, Moore recorded three tackles in two games, including one for loss and a sack.

In 2019, Moore played in two games, finishing with three tackles and a half-sack.

Originally a junior-college transfer, Moore came to LSU from Copiah-Lincoln Community College, where he was the No. 1 ranked JUCO weakside defensive end in 2019, according to 247Sports.

Moore originally opted out of the remainder of the 2020 season in October, and head coach Ed Orgeron said he never personally spoke with Moore.

The emergence of freshman B.J. Ojulari played a major role in Moore’s limited playing time in 2020.

LSU LB Travez Moore shares coronavirus experience

Moore went public with the details of his experience with the virus.

The issue of COVID-19 has affected sports in a number of ways, but the pandemic has hit a little closer to home for some members of the LSU football team like senior linebacker Travez Moore.

Moore appears to be the first player on the team to have publicly shared his experience with coronavirus, taking to Twitter this week.

He wrote he had dropped from 256 pounds to 229 pounds, lost his appetite, sense of taste and smell and had difficulty breathing — all of which are considered serious symptoms of contracting the virus.

Multiple LSU football players were reported to have tested positive for coronavirus back in June, when Sports Illustrated reported that no less than 30 players of the Tigers’ 115 were in quarantine due to either a positive test result or coming in contact with someone who had tested positive.

Coach Ed Orgeron later said the number reported was too high and said his team’s case numbers were “way down.”

College football players have to option to opt out of the season amid the pandemic, but so far, no one on the LSU team has done so.
