Portland Trail Blazers at Sacramento Kings odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Portland Trail Blazers at Sacramento Kings odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Portland Trail Blazers take on the Sacramento Kings at Golden 1 Center Wednesday in both teams’ season openers. Tip-off is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Trail Blazers vs. Kings odds, and our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Trail Blazers are coming off a disappointing 2021-2022 campaign in which they went 27-55. G Damian Lillard was limited to 29 games last season due to injury, so Portland should be much better offensively with him back on the court.

The Kings finished 1 spot ahead of the Trail Blazers in the Western Conference a season ago with a 30-52 record. Sacramento is hoping that G De’Aaron Fox and C Domantas Sabonis can lead the team to more wins this year.

Trail Blazers at Kings picks and predictions

Prediction

Kings 109, Trail Blazers 104

Moneyline

I’ll back the KINGS (-140) at home with a new coach in Mike Brown that should have his team ready to play. Even with Lillard back for the Trail Blazers, it’s hard to trust their depth entering the season, especially with multiple guys already ruled out.

Against the spread

KINGS -2.5 (-112) is where I’m going in this game with Sacramento only needing to win by 2.5 points to cover the spread. The trio of Fox, Sabonis, and SF Harrison Barnes should be enough to come away with a victory at home.

Over/Under

The Over is likely going to be popular in this game with the Trail Blazers and Kings both being bottom 4 teams in defensive efficiency a season ago. Also, the Over has hit in 4 of the last 5 meetings between these squads.

Despite all of that, Brown is a defensive-minded coach and the Trail Blazers don’t have many consistent scorers outside of Lillard and SG Anfernee Simons. Give me UNDER 228.5 (-110) in this game as both teams could struggle to shoot the ball to begin the season.

Portland Trail Blazers at Sacramento Kings odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Portland Trail Blazers at Sacramento Kings NBA betting odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Sacramento Kings (5-6) host the Portland Trail Blazers (6-4) Wednesday at Golden 1 Center for a 10 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Trail Blazers-Kings NBA betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Portland rallied from a 10-point deficit heading into the fourth quarter to beat the Toronto Raptors 112-111 as a 4.5-point favorite Monday. SG C.J. McCollum hit a game-winning pull-up jumper with 9.9 seconds remaining as part of his game-high 30 points to give Portland the win.

The Kings notched an impressive 127-122 home win against the Indiana Pacers as 3.5-point underdogs their last time out (Monday). Sacramento’s offense was on point vs. Indiana, shooting 56% from the field, including 15-for-32 from behind the arc. The Pacers also had 29 assists as a team.

The Trail Blazers steamrolled the Kings 125-99 in Sacramento this past Saturday. Portland outscored the Kings in all four quarters and McCollum erupted for a game-high 37 points on 13-for-22 shooting.

Trail Blazers at Kings: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Kings 125, Blazers 114

Money line (ML)

If Nurkic can’t play or is compromised health-wise then that forces C Enes Kanter into starter’s minutes for the Blazers, which plummets their efficiency on both ends of the court. With Kanter on the court vs. off of it, Portland is in the 26th-percentile in efficiency differential and in the eighth-percentile in defensive efficiency, according to CleaningTheGlass.com.

Nurkic isn’t a Defensive Player of the Year candidate or anything but just him not being 100% really helps a Kings offense that struggled in their first meeting with the Blazers.

Most importantly, since I’m taking Sacramento to cover, I’ll sprinkle a tiny wager on KINGS (+150) to upset the Blazers.

Against the spread (ATS)

This is shaping up to be a Pros vs. Joes situation in the betting market: According to Pregame.com, more than 75% of the money is on the Kings to cover but a majority of the actual bets placed are on the Blazers. The money column is typically the sharp side and the volume of action is the average joe. Let’s follow the money and BET KINGS +4.5 (-115) for 1.5 units.

Over/Under (O/U)

There’s inherently some value in the Over here because of how terrible Sacramento’s offense played in the first Trail Blazers-Kings game.

The box score gives the impression Portland played good defense when in reality that rarely is the case for the Blazers and it was more just poor Sacramento shooting. Furthermore, Portland has the best backcourt in the NBA and the Kings are dead last in defensive rating.

GIMME OVER 235.5 (-115) for a half-unit.

Portland Trail Blazers at Sacramento Kings odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Portland Trail Blazers at Sacramento Kings NBA betting odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Portland Trail Blazers (4-4) stop by Golden 1 Center Saturday for a 10 p.m. ET game against the Sacramento Kings (4-5). Below, we analyze the Trail Blazers-Kings NBA betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Trail Blazers rolled the Minnesota Timberwolves 135-117 as 10-point home favorites Thursday. Portland shot much better from the field—hitting 54.4% of its shots compared to Minnesota’s 41.9%—and were up as many as 31 points in the game. PG Damian Lillard erupted for a game-high 39 points on 61.9% shooting (7-for-12 from three) with 7 rebounds and 7 assists.

Sacramento took a 21-point beatdown at home by a two-win Toronto Raptors team last night. The Kings lost 144-123 despite sinking 56.8% of their shots and hitting 15 of 34 shots from behind the arc (44.1%). Sacramento PG De’Aaron Fox’s game status was questionable but, he gritted it out and led the Kings in scoring with 23 points on 9-for-11 shooting.

Portland and Sacramento split the season series 2-2 last year (straight up and against the spread) and the Over cashed in three of four Trail Blazers-Kings games.

Trail Blazers at Kings: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Kings 122, Trail Blazers 116

Money line (ML)

lean KINGS (+200) for a quarter-unit because it’s a long-term strategy of mine to sprinkle on an underdog’s money line if I am betting them to cover the spread. If it’s one or the other, definitely take the points with Sacramento.

Against the spread (ATS)

This is more of a bet against Portland rather than a bet on Sacramento but, I don’t think the Trail Blazers should be laying this many points on the road against a team with a similar record.

A lot of NBA junkies were high on Portland coming into the season and that could all be wishful thinking. Lillard is a superstar but the Trail Blazers had a losing record last season. Also, Portland is just 3-5 ATS this season and 5-8 ATS as a road dog since 2019.

GIMME KINGS +5.5 (+100) for 1 unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

I only lean OVER 237.5 (-115) because it’s a fairly obvious bet but “fairly obvious bets” don’t have a good winning percentage against the House. Furthermore, I do have a little sticker shock since Saturday’s meeting has the highest projected total between these teams in a long time.

The Over has cashed in four of the last five Trail Blazers-Kings games, both sides are in the bottom-10 of the NBA in defensive rating and play at an above-average pace.
