Notre Dame quarterback announces transfer destination

All the best to Brendon Clark!

Has anything been going on in college football the last day or two?  It seems like news has been really slow on the coaching search and College Football Playoff projection fronts.

Kidding aside, Notre Dame football is in the news today as quarterback Brendon Clark, who was at one time seen the possible replacement for Ian Book, has announced his transfer destination.

Clark, a Virginia native and former Wake Forest commitment, announced he was entering the transfer portal back in October and over the weekend announced his next move will be to Old Dominion.

Clark never quite bounced back how he would have liked and was passed on the depth chart by both Drew Pyne and Tyler Buchner while Jack Coan transferred in for the 2021 season.

All the best to him with his move to the Monarchs football team.

The New Orleans Saints released and waived dozens of players on Tuesday ahead of the NFL roster cuts deadline, but 16 of them have an opportunity to return to the practice squad on Wednesday upon clearing waivers. Nothing is official until the team announces a full list themselves, but here’s our live tracker with instant analysis on every reported addition:

Tracking Chiefs’ 16-man practice squad additions

We’ll be tracking all of the #Chiefs’ additions to their 16-man practice squad here:

The Kansas City Chiefs will officially begin to assemble their practice squad beginning today at noon ET.

One thing to remember is that the NFL has decided to carry over some of the practice squad rules from 2020. That means up to six practice squad players can have more than two accrued seasons, teams can protect up to four practice squad players per week, and two practice squad players can be elevated to the active roster on game day.

Below you’ll find reported additions to the Chiefs’ 16-man practice squad. Be sure to bookmark this page and refresh frequently for all of the latest updates.

The New Orleans Saints made their roster cuts from 90 players to 85 and 85 to 80 during the last two weeks, and now it’s unfortunately time to thin out the group even further. These decisions must be made without the benefits of a full slate of preseason games and under a late-summer evacuation to Dallas in the face of Hurricane Ida, to say nothing of the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. It isn’t an easy process for anyone.

Still, Saints Wire will be tracking all of the latest roster moves here as the team works to get down to 53 players before Tuesday’s 3 p.m. CT NFL deadline. Keep in mind that the team will be actively tweaking and adjusting the roster in the days ahead — players like Wil Lutz (injury) and David Onyemata (suspension) will revert to reserve lists, opening spots for others. So be sure to check this space often for updates.

Roster cuts are due on Tuesday, Aug. 31 by 4:00 p.m. league office time, we’ll be keeping track of the #Chiefs’ moves to get down to 53 players here:

The Kansas City Chiefs must trim their roster from 80 players to 53 players by 3:00 p.m. CT by Tuesday, August 31.

They’ve already moved on from 10 players as part of the NFL’s new gradual roster cuts this offseason. With some especially tough decisions to come, the decision-makers in Kansas City could take this down to the wire. It’s also possible that some of the upcoming cuts could begin to trickle in over the weekend

Saints roster cuts: Tracking the path to 80 players

The New Orleans Saints whittled their roster down to 80 players at the NFL deadline, but they lost several players to injured reserve:

The New Orleans Saints filed five roster cuts ahead of Tuesday’s NFL deadline, keeping their roster compliant with the 80-man maximum. And more changes are on the way as free agents workout and trade chatter picks up around the league. But here’s what you need to know about which Saints players are on their way out:

Like every other NFL team, the New Orleans Saints must complete the unpleasant process of trimming their roster down from 90 players to just 85 on Tuesday, before 3 p.m. CT. But they already got the jump on this by releasing two veterans and waiving three other players with injury designations on Monday, which we’ll get to shortly.

Here are the next deadlines to remember:

  • Tuesday, August 17: Down to 85
  • Tuesday, August 24: Down to 80
  • Tuesday, August 31: Down to 53
