Here is how Chiefs CB L’Jarius Sneed is honoring his late brother

Kansas City Chiefs CB L’Jarius Sneed returned to the team on December 22 after having taken a 10-day hiatus to return to Minden, Louisiana following the stabbing death of his oldest brother.

TQ Harrison helped raise Sneed and the two were as close as could be. Sneed has handled the loss as best as he possibly could and he’s relied on those closest to him to help him cope and heal.

“I have mentors who’ve helped me along the way,” Sneed told reporters on Thursday. “Just trusting the process and taking it day by day. Just learning from this experience and talking to people who’ve been in my situation. They help me along the way.”

Sneed missed two games in the immediate wake of his brother’s death, but now he finds football as his escape.

“I wouldn’t say it’s hard to play football because football takes my mind off things like that. That’s why I love the game of football because it takes my mind of what’s really going on in my life.”

While football takes his mind off of things, it’s also been a way that he can pay tribute to his late brother. Sneed has incorporated Harrison into his gameday ritual. In a way, Sneed’s brother is out there with him every time he takes the field.

“Yes, I have his name on my gloves,” Sneed said. “I also wear one of his undershirts.”

On Sneed’s gloves, you can read an inscription along with the initials, “LLTQ.” It stands for, “Long Live TQ.”

Chiefs rule out CB L’Jarius Sneed following death of his brother

#Chiefs CB L’Jarius Sneed has officially been ruled out for the Week 14 game against the #Raiders following the death of his oldest brother.

The Kansas City Chiefs have officially downgraded CB L’Jarius Sneed to out for the team’s Week 14 game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Sneed was listed as questionable on Saturday following news of the death of his older brother TQ Harrison in their hometown of Minden, Louisiana.  Sneed traveled back to Minden on Saturday, on a jet provided by Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and he currently remains there with his family according to reports from KC Star beat writer Sam McDowell.

Here is the report on the tragedy involving Sneed’s brother from Shreveport, Louisiana’s KTBS-TV via our friends out Touchdown Wire:

“TQ Harrison died from a single stab wound to his back, that punctured his lung,” said Cropper, adding the murder weapon — a large kitchen knife — has been recovered.

Harrison attempted to drive himself to Minden Medical Center after being stabbed, however he crashed his vehicle on the backside of the hospital.

Harrison was reportedly transported to Oschner – LSU Hospital where he succumbed to his injury following an emergency surgery police said.”

Angela Washington, 47, has been arrested and charged in connection to Harrison’s death.

The Chiefs elevated two cornerbacks to the 53-man roster from the practice squad on Saturday with Sneed’s expected absence and injuries at the position. Both Dicaprio Bootle and Josh Jackson are expected to be active for Kansas City on Sunday against the Raiders.

Sneed’s status on a short week with a trip to Los Angeles to face the Chargers on “Thursday Night Football” is also in question at this point.
