Harris, a Long Island native, was …

Harris, a Long Island native, was fortunate enough to see Jordan play at Madison Square Garden when he was a kid alongside his father, longtime NBA agent Torrel Harris — founder and CEO of Unique Sports Management — and his older brother, Tyler Harris. It proved to be a memorable evening. “We kept asking my dad if we could meet him after the game and he was just telling us maybe,” Tobias recalled. “But it ended up happening and it was unbelievable. As we were walking away I realized I didn’t get him to sign my card. So my dad had to pull him back and get him to sign our cards. Tyler and I were so excited on the train ride back. I kept thinking my dad was so cool because he knows Michael Jordan. I ended up losing the card on the way back, but it didn’t matter because I had gotten to meet him. It was an unforgettable experience.”

Tobias Harris’ agent provides clarity on Scottie Pippen’s extension

Philadelphia 76ers forward Tobias Harris’ agent provides clarity on Scottie Pippen’s extension.

With everybody discussing “The Last Dance” documentary that highlights Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls, the second part has everybody buzzing is that the Bulls severely underpaid Scottie Pippen. He signed an extension in 1991 that was for seven years and $18 million and when he asked to restructure, general manager Jerry Krause said they couldn’t.

Philadelphia 76ers forward Tobias Harris is represented by his father, Torrel Harris, and Unique Sports Management. Since the subject is a hot topic, the elder Harris wanted to provide some clarity on the deal for Pippen.

Harris, who was a certified agent at that time, wrote about it for HoopsHype as he said:

First of all, the Bulls could’ve restructured Pippen’s deal. In today’s NBA, teams typically can’t restructure a player’s contract; the only exception is if the player is extended and the team has cap space. But back in the 1990s, the Bulls could have ripped up Pippen’s contract and given him a new deal as long as they were under the cap. Considering how big of a role he played in Chicago’s dynasty, you’d think the Bulls would have done this. Back then, teams ripped up contracts all the time, so it blows my mind that the Bulls refused to give in.

Scottie was one of the best players in the NBA and he was absolutely underpaid, so they should have recognized his value and restructured his deal. I definitely understand why Scottie was upset.

Pippen was criminally underpaid as he was a 7-time All-Star with the Bulls and he averaged 17.7 points and 6.7 rebounds while also being named one of the top 50 players in the history of the game. He was able to make up for the lack of money with big contracts from the Houston Rockets and the Portland Trail Blazers, but how the Bulls handled that situation was downright awful. Tobias Harris’ father, Torrel Harris, representing Suns’ Kelly Oubre Jr.

Phoenix Suns forward Kelly Oubre Jr. is signing with Torrel Harris, the father of Philadelphia 76ers forward Tobias Harris.

With the outbreak of COVID-19, there is not much to do other than maybe conduct some business.

Phoenix Suns forward Kelly Oubre Jr., who is having a breakout season in 2019-20, has a new agent. That agent would be Torrel Harris who happens to be the father and agent of Philadelphia 76ers forward Tobias Harris.

Torrel Harris works for Unique Sports Management International and he helped negotiate the 5-year $180 million deal Tobias received from the Sixers. If Torrel could work that type of magic for Tobias, then Oubre Jr. should feel like he is in good hands.

Oubre Jr. is averaging a career-high 18.7 points and 6.4 rebounds while shooting 35.2% from deep with the Suns, but he underwent surgery on his right knee on March 3.

Tobias is having a solid season in his own right averaging 19.4 points and 6.8 rebounds while shooting 36.2% from deep on the season. Hopefully, he will get a chance to continue those numbers and help the Sixers chase down a championship. [lawrence-related id=28383,28374,28366]
