Toronto Raptors at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Toronto Raptors at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Toronto Raptors (23-44) and Orlando Magic (39-28) play the 2nd game of a home-and-home Sunday. Tip-off from Kia Center is set for 6 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Raptors vs. Magic odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: Magic lead 2-0

Orlando covered as a 7.5-point favorite with a 113-103 win over the Raptors in Friday’s meeting with the Under (217.5) cashing in downtown Toronto — and we predicted both the spread and total correctly. F Franz Wagner had a team-high 19 points for the Magic, who have won back-to-back games and 15 of 20.

The Raptors, on the other hand, are on 6-game skid and have covered in just 2 of those losses. Toronto’s last win was against the Charlotte Hornets March 3, the 1st game it played after F Scottie Barnes injured his hand against the Golden State Warriors March 1.

Orlando has covered in both meetings against Toronto this season, and the Over/Under (O/U) has gone 1-1.

Raptors at Magic picks and predictions

Prediction

Magic 110, Raptors 104

Moneyline

The Magic (-750) are not worth a play at this price — especially in a spot where teams can be complacent after winning the 1st game of a home-and-home.

PASS. Bet the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

I don’t have a spreadsheet to back this up, but I believe the scariest bets in the NBA are profitable long-term.

The Raptors may be on a 6-game skid (2-4 ATS), but this is too many points to give the losing team on the back end of a home-and-home. Toronto arguably outplayed the Magic for the 1st 2½ quarters Friday and actually led 69-67 with 4:26 remaining in the 3rd.

Expect the Magic to be complacent after Friday’s win — not trying to run up the score and win by 13+.

BET RAPTORS +12.5 (-115).

Over/Under

The Under hit in Friday’s meeting, and neither team has looked great offensively lately. The Magic have gone 15 consecutive games without a 120-point performance, while the Raptors haven’t eclipsed the mark in 9 straight.

The Under has hit in 9 of the Magic’s last 11 games, and while I like the Raptors to keep it close, Orlando’s defense should still help the Under hit.

BET UNDER 216.5 (-110).

Toronto Raptors at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Toronto Raptors at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Toronto Raptors (13-13) battle the Orlando Magic (7-20) Sunday with tip from Amway Center in Orlando set for 6 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Raptors vs. Magic odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Raptors lost to the Magic 113-109 on the road Friday, failing to cover as 8-point favorites. Orlando used a 37-point 1st quarter to bounce ahead and never looked back.

Toronto is 14-12 against the spread (ATS) on the season but is just 3-10 straight up on the road and 2-4 ATS over its last 6 games. The Raptors are led by F Pascal Siakam, who is averaging 25.3 points per game.

The Magic are 12-14-1 ATS on the season but have covered 3 straight games, all of which they were underdogs by at least 7 points. Orlando is 6-9 straight up at home. It is led by No. 1 overall pick Paolo Banchero, who is averaging 21.9 per game.

Raptors at Magic picks and predictions

Prediction

Raptors 118, Magic 108

Moneyline

PASS.

The Raptors should bounce back here, but they aren’t great on the road. The Magic are 6-9 at home, so at (+235), there is some value. Ultimately, I would pass as I don’t see Orlando beating a better Toronto team twice in 3 days.

Against the spread

BET RAPTORS -6.5 (-120).

The Raptors are the better team and should be able to bounce back.

Winning multiple games against the same opponent is not easy. That said, while the Magic covered Friday, they are just 4-6 ATS in their last 10 games and are just 3-3 ATS at home over that span.

Toronto lost the battle on the glass Friday, and with the 3rd-best offensive rebounding rate, that should be a big-time factor that isn’t repeated. Orlando sits 16th in defensive rebounding.

Orlando also hit 59% from the field which is unlikely to happen again. Outside of that first quarter, Toronto won the remaining 3 by 8 as well, so it is the better side and should play like it Sunday.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 222.5 (-110).

Having gone Under the projected 223.0 total Friday, this matchup is likely to be 1 in which Toronto shoots better than 42% from the field.

Also, the Raptors have traded off going Over and Under in their last 7, primed for the Over to cash. The Magic have traded off going Over and Under in their last 9, also set to help cash the Over.

Orlando is 13-14 O/U this season while Toronto is 13-13 O/U. The trends suggest this one will go OVER 222.5 (-110).

Raptors at Magic picks and predictions

Prediction

Raptors 117, Magic 107

Moneyline

Considering how steep the odds are for the Raptors (-290) to win, I’ll PASS on the moneyline in this game. Toronto is expected to win on the road against Orlando, but you won’t get much of a return if it secures the victory.

Against the spread

With Toronto being somewhat healthy, RAPTORS -7.5 (-105) is an enticing bet in this contest. The Raptors are a tough squad to beat when they have G Fred VanVleet, F OG Anunoby, F Scottie Barnes, and F Pascal Siakam in the lineup.

The Magic are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games against a team with a winning record. Meanwhile, the Raptors are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road meetings against the Magic and 11-2 ATS in the last 13 meetings overall.

Over/Under

OVER 220.5 (-110) is where I’m leaning with the Raptors having the majority of their lineup healthy. With Carter still out for the Magic, the Raptors should have an easier time scoring in the paint on Friday.

Toronto has hit the Over in 5 of its last 6 games following a win of more than 10 points and it’s 5-2 in the last 7 meetings between the Raptors and the Magic.

Toronto Raptors at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Toronto Raptors at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Toronto Raptors (44-32) visit Amway Center Friday to take on the Orlando Magic (20-57). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Raptors vs. Magic odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Raptors are safe from the play-in tournament for now, but they lead the Cleveland Cavaliers by just 2.5 games, so they’ll have to win a few down the stretch to ensure it stays that way.

Toronto is coming off a 125-102 home victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves Wednesday. It has covered nine of its last 12 games and is 44-32 against the spread (ATS) this season. The Raptors are led by F Pascal Siakam, who averages 22.4 points per game.

The Magic are at the bottom of the Eastern Conference and should be in all-out tank mode. Orlando has lost four straight games and failed to cover three of those outings.

It is just 2-6 ATS over its last eight contests and is 35-42 ATS on the season. The Magic are led by G Cole Anthony, who is averaging a team-high 16.7 points and 5.8 assists per game.

Raptors at Magic odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Raptors 116, Magic 103

Money line

PASS.

A -550 money line is never worth any type of wager, and on the other hand, the Magic are just 10-27 at home this season and taking on a playoff-caliber opponent. I’ll pass on predicting the upset.

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

BET the RAPTORS -9.5 (-107).

The Raptors are a very difficult opponent for a plethora of reasons. They have size, length, shooting, leadership, and effort — a combination that’s tough to defeat.

Carter Jr. missed Orlando’s most recent game, Wednesday against the Washington Wizards, and if he’s unable to go Friday it would be down its leading rebounder. The Magic may get abused on the glass against a Raptors team that is second in offensive rebounding rate.

Toronto is also just the hotter team right now, having covered nine of its last 12 games while Orlando is 1-3 ATS over its last four outings.

The Raptors rank third in points off turnovers while the Magic sit fifth in the league in most turnovers, averaging 14.6 per game. Ball security is going to be an important factor that sides with Toronto.

Lastly, Orlando is 10-20 ATS as a home underdog while Toronto is 9-3 ATS as a road favorite — the second-best record in the league for that situation.

Over/Under

PASS with a slight lean to the Over 216.5 (-110).

I love the Raptors and only somewhat favor the Over.

Orlando’s offense is just far too inconsistent for this to be a confirmed play. However, it is 3-1 O/U in its last four games and 6-3 O/U in its last nine. The Magic are 16-14 O/U as a home underdog.

While the Raptors’ defense ranks ninth in opponents’ points per game, they are just 17th in opponents’ field goal percentage which is where the Magic struggle.

Overall, the strong play is to Toronto’s spread, but I would favor the Over here.

Raptors at Magic: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Raptors 120, Magic 108

Money line (ML)

The Raptors (-250) should make it two straight wins against the injury-ravaged Magic with a win Tuesday, but we can’t justify the chalky price for a team that has won two or more games in a row just twice this season. There’s also just no reason to chase the upset by a Magic squad with three straight L’s, all by 10-plus points.

PASS on the money line in favor of the more profitable spread.

Against the spread (ATS)

The RAPTORS -6.5 (-110) easily disposed of the Magic Sunday and should again while making the short trip to Orlando for the second half of the home-and-home set.

Toronto shot just 30.8% from 3-point range in the 13-point win, so there’s plenty of room for improvement if the Raps get back to their season average.

The Raptors won the rebound battle with C Aron Baynes grabbing 16 boards. PF Pascal Siakam had a game-high 30 points in one of his best outings of the 2020-21 season.

The Toronto bigs will have an easier time Tuesday with Gordon now on the sidelines, as well. The Raps bench had one of its best games of the season and should continue to have an edge against the short-handed Magic.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the OVER 214.5 (-110) and expect some better 3-point shooting from Toronto. Sunday’s game squeaked past a projected total of 216 points by a single point.

Progression toward a season average of 37.5% shooting from beyond the arc for the Raptors should allow the Over to connect with relative ease Tuesday.
