Titans injury report: Tony Pollard, Nick Folk out

The Tennessee Titans welcomed T’Vondre Sweat, Jeffery Simmons and Daryl Worley back to practice on Thursday on their injury report.

The Tennessee Titans hit the field on Thursday to continue their preparations for their battle with the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday and welcomed back a couple of players.

This is some great news for a team that enters the week battered and bruised. After seeing 10 players sidelined due to injury on Wednesday, that number dropped to seven. That is still a large number but it is a step in the right direction. Jeffery Simmons, T’Vondre Sweat and Daryl Worley all returned and were full participants.

The biggest piece of news on the injury front came from special teams coach Colt Anderson, when he stated that the abdominal injury that is bothering kicker Nick Folk is a remnant of the groin injury that bothered him last week. If he can’t go this week against the Colts, expect Brayden Narveson to be activated from the practice squad to take his place.

Wide receiver Colton Dowell was again limited. At this stage there is no timeline for his return, but practicing again is a great first step.

The Titans’ complete injury report for Thursday can be found below.

Did not participate: LB Kenneth Murray (hamstring), WR Tyler Boyd (foot), K Nick Folk (abdomen), RB Tony Pollard (ankle), LB Luke Gifford (concussion), LB Otis Reese (ankle), Nick Westbrook-Ikhine (ankle)

Limited participant: WR Colton Dowell (knee)

Full participant: CB Roger McCreary (shoulder), OT Jaelyn Duncan (hamstring), DT Jeffery Simmons (NIR/rest), DT T’Vondre Sweat (shoulder), DB Daryl Worley (calf),

Titans injury report: Tony Pollard, Roger McCreary questionable

The Tennessee Titans released their final injury report and see multiple starters led by Tony Pollard questionable for Week 15.

The Tennessee Titans finished up their work on the field in preparation for their Week 15 battle with the Cincinnati Bengals on Friday and appear to be getting healthier.

As head coach Brian Callahan noted prior to practice, no player has been ruled out for the contest, but there are still some that are battling injuries and are questionable.

On a positive note, kicker Nick Folk again practiced fully and will play on Sunday barring a setback. The same can be said for starters JC Latham and Kenneth Murray, who returned to practice Friday and have no designations.

Linebacker Otis Reese (ankle) and cornerback Roger McCreary (shoulder) did not practice and are both questionable. While running back Tony Pollard returned but was limited with his ankle injury and is also questionable.

The final injury report and game statuses for the Titans and Bengals are below.

Tennessee Titans

Titans injury report: Tony Pollard out, JC Latham limited

The Tennessee Titans added offensive tackle JC Latham to the injury report after practice on Thursday with a hip injury.

The Tennessee Titans were again on the field continuing their preparations for their Week 15 battle with the Cincinnati Bengals.

After injuring his ankle on Wednesday, linebacker Otis Reese did not take part in this session; his absence, coupled with starter Kenneth Murray still being sidelined, could impact depth at the inside linebacker position this weekend.

Kicker Nick Folk returned to practice but is dealing with soreness in his groin. Kicker Brayden Narveson also practiced but is being viewed as an insurance policy in case Folk can’t go.

Murray, Reese, and Tony Pollard were the only players to sit out in practice. Offensive tackle JC Latham was added to the injury report and was a limited participant with a hip injury.

All other players returned to the field were full participants.

The Titans’ complete injury report for Thursday can be found below.

Did not participate: LB Kenneth Murray (hamstring), RB Tony Pollard (ankle), LB Otis Reese (ankle)

Limited participant: OT JC Latham (hip)

Full participant: CB Roger McCreary (shoulder), OT Jaelyn Duncan (hamstring), OG Peter Skoronski (ankle), LB Jerome Baker (neck), LB Luke Gifford (calf), QB Will Levis (shoulder), DT Jeffery Simmon (NIR/rest). DT T’Vondre Sweat (shoulder), WR Tyler Boyd (foot), K Nick Folk (groin)

Titans vs. Jaguars Player of the Game: RB Tony Pollard

The Tennessee Titans fell to the Jacksonville Jaguars, 10-6, in Week 14 and Tony Pollard is our Player of the Game.

The Tennessee Titans hosted the Jacksonville Jaguars in an AFC South divisional matchup on Sunday. It was the first of two meetings between the two teams, and it was a low-scoring affair with the Jaguars coming out on top in a game the Titans practically gave away in another second-half collapse.

The Titans’ defense held strong early in the game and saw both Chidobe Awuzie and Otis Reese grab an interception. But the unit seemed to wear down near the end, allowing the Jaguars to score a touchdown in the fourth quarter. They took a 10-6 lead and the Titans never recovered.

There was one constant throughout the game, though. Running back Tony Pollard carried the Titans’ offense on his back today earning Player of the Game Honors despite never finding the end zone. He ran 21 times for 102 yards, an average of 4.9 yards per carry, and caught two passes for 22 yards.

Despite Pollard’s best efforts, he did not reach the end zone today and have it count. He found it once, but his touchdown was called back due to a hold by Dillon Radunz.

It seems the Titans take two steps forward and five steps back every other week. This was a completely avoidable loss. The Titans are lucky to have Pollard on their side and need to continue to make use of his skills going forward.

Titans vs. Commanders: 3 reasons for optimism in Week 13

The Tennessee Titans square off in a Sunday afternoon battle against the Commanders in Week 13. Here are three reasons for optimism.

The Tennessee Titans are coming off a potentially momentum-building 32-27 victory over the Houston Texans in a classic AFC South battle.

This week, the 3-8 Titans will take on the Washington Commanders in Week 13 action. The Commanders have been struggling and come in needing a win to get back on track.

The Titans are playing some of their best football of the season and have another chance to stack wins. Here are three reasons to be optimistic they can pull this one out.

Rushing attack

The Titans could still be without Tyjae Spears, who remains in the concussion protocol. But that will mean a bigger dose of Tony Pollard.

Pollard has been the one constant for the offense in 2024 and is coming off his best game of the season. The Commanders rank near the bottom of the league in rush defense and have struggled all season.

Pollard has averaged 4.5 or more yards per carry in four of his past five games, including his 119-yard performance against the Texans.  If the Titans can keep Pollard involved, they will have a chance to control the clock and hit some explosive plays.

Passing defense

The Titans rank first in the league in passing defense and are inside the top five in all major categories against the pass. The Commanders boast an explosive passing attack but quarterback Jayden Daniels is a rookie and appears to be cooling off after a hot start and could be hitting the dreaded rookie wall.

The Titans got to C.J. Stroud in Week 12 and forced him into multiple turnovers and could do the same this week. Yes, Daniels’ running ability could cause problems, but in the passing game, the Titans may have an advantage.

Hope and confidence

It’s hard to believe, but the Titans still have a slight chance to make the playoffs in 2024. It’s a long shot, but it is possible when looking at their remaining schedule.

On paper, this game with the Commanders and their rematch with the Texans appear to be the toughest on the schedule. The Titans are playing well and there is confidence inside the locker room that they can pull off the impossible. To keep that hope alive, the Titans need to stack wins starting this week and will be motivated to prove the doubters wrong.

Making the playoffs is unlikely at this point, but it is the NFL, and stranger things have happened.

NFL Insider: Titans’ Tony Pollard may be having ‘his best season’

Tennessee Titans running back Tony Pollard is having a great season, and one NFL Insider thinks it could be ‘his best season’ of his career.

The Tennessee Titans signed running back Tony Pollard during free agency after losing Derrick Henry to the Baltimore Ravens. Pollard is having a fantastic season, despite a few subpar games, and one NFL insider thinks he might be having his best season yet.

Brian Baldinger runs through some of Pollard’s film and breaks down how the running back gets down the field and also showcases Pollard’s ability to help in pass protection.

“Here he is in protection right now, who’s coming? Where can I help?” Baldinger says, “Right here, he sees a little color. Go plug that leak right there, like a good plumber.” Which Pollard does, giving Will Levis more time to throw the ball.

After showing how Pollard turns the corner using the path his line sets, Baldinger has, perhaps, the most telling breakdown. It happens on a play where it seems like Pollard has nowhere to go.

“The great ones can make yards when there’s nothing there,” he says before breaking down a play where Pollard had basically nowhere to go. There’s no hole,, there’s no way forward. But none of the Houston Texans’ defenders get his legs and Pollard ping-pongs through the line for a 17-yard gain.

Pollard is on track to record his third season in a row with more than 1,000 yards rushing. Add in his ability to aid the offensive line (specifically on the right side) some backup on pass protection, and Pollard is definitely having the best season of his career.

Titans vs. Texans Player of the Game: RB Tony Pollard

The Tennessee Titans defeated the Houston Texans, 32-27, in Week 12 and RB Tony Pollard is our Player of the Game.

The Tennessee Titans faced the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium on Sunday in an AFC South battle for the ages.

It was a much better game than anyone anticipated, with the Titans scoring their most points since their Week 4 win over the Miami Dolphins.

The Titans earned their third win of the season in Week 12 behind a strong defensive showing and an offense that looked rejuvenated. There were a number of players who could have been our Player of the Game this week: Kenneth Murray Jr., T’Vondre Sweat, Harold Landry, Chig Okonkwo, and a few others were all considered.

However, Tony Pollard is responsible for keeping the Titans in this game from the beginning, so he is this week’s Player of the Game.

Pollard recorded 119 yards on 20 carries, averaging 5.0 yards per carry, and rushed for a touchdown, plus caught three passes for 10 yards. He put the offense on his back this week and made sure they got down the field. He did fumble the ball in the red zone, but his play the rest of the game covered that rare mistake.

The Titans now have a 1-1 record in the AFC South division, keeping their 0.5% playoff hopes alive for another week.

Next week, the Titans face the Washington Commanders at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland.

Titans’ Tony Pollard, Texans’ Joe Mixon top fantasy options in Week 12

The Titans and Texans face off in Houston on Sunday and both teams boast players who are worthy of starting on your fantasy rosters in Week 12.

The Tennessee Titans head to the Lone Star state on Sunday to face division rival Houston Texans at NRG Stadium. The Texans sit atop the AFC South division with ease and will likely have no issue making the playoffs. The Titans are third in the AFC South but have a division-heavy schedule to end the season which could change things a bit.

The Titans, while it’s been slow, are making progress and beginning to look better each week. There have been a lot of challenges and obstacles to overcome, but even in last week’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings, the Titans looked better than they have all season.

This week, the Titans’ stout defense faces a dynamic Houston offense that is capable of making big plays. But the Houston defense isn’t as tough as some the Titans’ have faced recently, which provides an opportunity for Will Levis & Co. to move the ball down the field.

Let’s take a quick peek at the fantasy options these two teams provide in Week 12.

Despite missing time with an ankle injury, Joe Mixon has been lighting up the fantasy scoreboard. Last week against the Dallas Cowboys, he rushed for over 100 yards and three touchdowns, plus added two receptions for 44 more yards. He has exceeded 100 rushing yards in six of eight games with the Texans and has a total of 11 touchdowns this season. He is the eighth ranked running back in the league, despite missing time.

Against the Titans in Week 12, he is poised for another strong game. The Titans’ have allowed 13 scrimmage touchdowns to running backs, tied for fourth-most in the NFL. He’s not only going to get his ground yards this week, but he will find the end zone.

Tony Pollard is the Titans’ number one back. That’s not a secret and it’s not going to change anytime soon. Tyjae Spears has been a nice compliment to Pollard on the field, gaining solid yards when needed. But after the Titans’ loss to the Vikings on Sunday, Spears entered the NFL’s five-step concussion protocol. He remains questionable against the Texans, and in games when he hasn’t played, Pollard averages 24 touches per game. It’s still a tough matchup behind a flimsy offensive line, but Pollard will get his touches this week and could find the end zone at some point.

Prior to landing on injured reserve for five weeks with a hamstring injury, Nico Collins was taking the league by storm and sitting at the top of the receiver rankings. Since then, the rankings have changed without him on the field, but his return against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday definitely gave the team a boost. He was a bit rusty, which is expected, and the Titans’ secondary might prove to be a difficult matchup, but by the end of the game when the Titans’ defenders are fatigued, look for him to make his mark.

After DeAndre Hopkins was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs, Calvin Ridley became the undisputed WR1. Over the last four games, he has 358 receiving yards and two touchdowns and would have had a third had it not been called back for a penalty last week. The Texans’ secondary allows the most touchdowns to wide receivers and gives up over 150 receiving yards per game to wideouts.

Will Levis looks much improved since his return as well, racking up 295 passing yards in Week 11, which bodes well for Ridley going forward. If Levis and Ridley can consistently be on the same page, it could prove to be a solid combination.

Let’s be real; the Titans’ offense is inconsistent at best. Yes, Will Levis played well last week, but on the road against a division rival? It’s going to be a tough test. The Texans’ defense is projected to have the second-most fantasy points in Week 12 behind the Denver Broncos, who are playing Las Vegas. Will Levis is likely to turn the ball over; he has only one game this season where he hasn’t thrown an interception. Plus, the Titans are still trying to find their footing during this rebuild, especially at the right tackle position. If the Texans attack from that side, they’ll have no trouble disrupting the Titans’ offense and having a nice fantasy outing this week.

Titans’ injury report: Arden Key, Roger McCreary, Jeffery Simmons return

The Tennessee Titans saw multiple starters return to practice on Thursday — here is the daily injury report.

The Tennessee Titans were back on the practice field on Thursday and welcomed some starters back after sitting out Wednesday’s session.

Outside linebacker Arden Key, cornerback Roger McCreary and defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons all were full participants and running back Tony Pollard was limited. This is a positive sign for Key and McCreary who sat out Wednesday due to injury.

The same cannot be said about cornerback L’Jarius Sneed and tackle Leroy Watson, as both players missed their second day of practice heading into Week 11. They were joined on the sideline by defensive back Justin Hardee, who was limited on Wednesday with a groin injury.

The Titans will wrap up their practice week on Friday and release their final injury report.

Titans’ injury report: 6 starters sit out practice

The Tennessee Titans returned to the practice field Wednesday and released their first injury report for the week.

The Titans seemed to be making progress on the injury front heading into their 27-17 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. With the week’s first practice on hand, it will be the first chance to see if some ailing players could return this week.

The most notable injury remains cornerback L’Jarius Sneed. His quad injury has kept him out for an extended period. Heading into Wednesday, Sneed has not practiced in any capacity since the injury. Unfortunately, Sneed has continued to be sidelined.

Multiple starters joined him on the sideline, including defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, outside linebacker Arden Key, Cornerback Roger McCreary, running back Tony Pollard, and tackle Leroy Watson IV.

Defensive Back Justin Hardee was limited with a groin injury.
