Football fans have longed for a moment like this. Tom Brady on one sideline, Aaron Rodgers on the other, in a monumental game. It might not be in the Super Bowl, but those two venerable quarterbacks will clash this weekend with a Super Bowl berth at stake.
Of course, lost in that storyline is the fact that Brady will be squaring off with Darnell Savage and the Packers defense, while Rodgers will be staring down Devin White and the Buccaneers defense. Still, there are no shortage of storylines when examining those matchups.
In thinking about a potential game script for Brady working against this Green Bay defensive unit, my mind was quickly taken to attacking Cover-3. Why? Because after charting out the Packers’ defensive performance this season one thing was illuminated: Of the 41 passing plays against the Packers this season that gained more than 20 yards, 18 of those came with Green Bay in that coverage. So attacking that scheme would be where I would start.
