Eastern Michigan at Toledo odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Eastern Michigan Eagles at Toledo Rockets odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (5-3, 2-2 MAC) and Toledo Rockets (4-4, 2-2) meet Tuesday at the Glass Bowl in Toledo. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Eastern Michigan vs. Toledo odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings according to the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

The Eagles racked up 55 points in a road victory at Bowling Green Oct. 23 in the most recent outing, covering a 4.5-point number. Eastern Michigan has alternated covers and non-covers in each of its last six.

The Rockets rebounded from a 26-23 overtime loss at Central Michigan, spanking a good Western Michigan side Oct. 23 by a 34-15 count as 1.5-point underdogs in their last game. The Under has cashed in six straight outings.

Eastern Michigan at Toledo odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Toledo 33, Eastern Michigan 27

Money line

Toledo (-340) will cost you more than three times your potential return, and that’s just too expensive, especially in a game that is expected to be fairly close.

AVOID.

Against the spread

EASTERN MICHIGAN +8.5 (-108) is the play, as it should be able to keep this one within one score. While Toledo has dominated this series of late, including straight-up wins in 13 of the last 14 meetings, three of the last four in the series have been one-score games. The Rockets eked out a 37-34 win Oct. 26, 2019, the last time the teams met in Toledo.

Over/Under

OVER 54.5 (-107) is the best play on the board. Toledo has a decent offense, rolling up 28.5 PPG. On defense, the Rockets are one of the better teams in the MAC, but they might have their hands full with Eastern Michigan.

The Eagles have racked up 32.8 PPG to rank 36th in the nation, and the pass game is outstanding with 256.6 yards per outing. Look for a score of at least 60 points in this mid-week MACtion battle.

Toledo at Notre Dame odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Toledo Rockets at Notre Dame Fighting Irish odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Toledo Rockets (1-0) and Notre Dame Fighting Irish (1-0) meet Saturday at Notre Dame Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Toledo at Notre Dame odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Toledo had no issues in its 49-10 rout of FCS Norfolk State last weekend at the Glass Bowl. The Rockets had a very balanced attack, posting 205 rushing yards and 236 yards through the air, and they were a plus-2 in turnover margin. Perhaps the only complaint is three sacks allowed.

No. 7 Notre Dame held an 18-point lead at Florida State going to the fourth quarter, but then it ran into nearly a storybook finish for FSU QB McKenzie Milton. He rallied the Seminoles and forced overtime, but the Irish slapped the storybook closed, winning in overtime with perfect “execution” on a game-winning field goal.

Toledo at Notre Dame odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Notre Dame 41, Toledo 20

Money line

Notre Dame (-800) is going to come home and push past MAC foe Toledo without much problem. But you can’t lay eight times your potential return, as that’s a terrible long-term betting strategy. Eventually, one of those will come back to bite you, washing away several wins at a time.

AVOID.

Against the spread

Play NOTRE DAME -16.5 (-115) at home as it will bounce back for the cover here. It’s surprising these two institutions, separated by less than 200 miles, have never meant on the gridiron. After this one, the Rockets are going to wonder why they didn’t continue to avoid the Irish.

Stream college football games on ESPN+ by signing up here.

Over/Under

OVER 55.5 (-112) is the lean, but play it lightly. The Irish did good things against the Seminoles. QB Jack Coan looked pretty comfortable in the offense in his first game since the graduate transfer came over from Wisconsin.

Toledo also has an experienced signal caller in QB Bryant Koback. He’ll keep the Rockets afloat for a while.

Toledo at Michigan odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Toledo Rockets at Michigan Wolverines sports betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Toledo Rockets (3-2) are in Ann Arbor to play the Michigan Wolverines (4-0) at the Crisler Center at 6 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Toledo-Michigan college basketball betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Toledo at Michigan: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 2:15 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Toledo +800 (bet $100 to win $800) | Michigan -1430 (bet $1430 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Toledo +13.5 (+100) | Michigan -13.5 (-120)
  • Over/Under: 145.5 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Toledo at Michigan: Three things to know

  1. Toledo earned its second-straight victory, and fifth consecutive cover, in a 91-74 win over Eastern Michigan Dec. 4.
  2. Michigan has won all four games by double-digits but failed to cover against Oakland despite winning 81-71 in overtime. The Wolverines crushed UCF 80-58 on Dec. 6, because they dominated the glass, outrebounding the Knights 40-24.
  3. The Rockets are filling in last minute as Michigan’s opponent in what was supposed to be an ACC/Big Ten Challenge game against the NC State Wolfpack.

Toledo at Michigan: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Michigan 81, Toledo 72

Money line (ML)

PASS ON THE MONEY LINE. I cannot talk myself into backing Toledo outright and no way I am laying 14-to-1 to take Michigan.

Against the spread (ATS)

The Wolverines haven’t really gotten after it defensively as much as in prior seasons. Michigan is negative in turnover per game differential and ranks 264th in opponents’ turnovers per play.

Also, the Wolverines don’t close out well enough against threes and are 219th in opponents’ 3-point attempts per game. Toledo shoots the 3-pointer at the 28th-best rate in the nation and is 41st in 3-point shots per game. So even if Michigan comes out and puts it to Toledo, the Rockets can sneak in the backdoor with some late threes.

Finally, the Wolverines were expecting a Power 5 opponent and instead got a Mid-American Conference foe while Toledo will have by far its biggest game of the season against Michigan. I don’t like the idea of backing a double-digit favorite against a mid-major team without its home crowd and questionable motivation.

I lean TOLEDO +13.5 (+100) for a half-unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

Keeping along the lines of Toledo’s all-in effort, don’t we expect the Rockets to chuck threes in an effort to compensate for lacking talent and effort? The Over looks good if the Rockets are firing threes and Michigan doesn’t really defend the three well.

Plus, Michigan should be able to finish in the paint pretty easily. The Wolverines are 17th in 2-point percentage and the Rockets are 198th in opponents’ 2-point percentage.

The Over is juiced up because the market is backing it. According to Pregame.com, 81% of the money bet and 89% of the wagers placed are on the Over.

Usually, I’d like to fade the public in high-profile matchups but what squares are betting an Over in Toledo-Michigan on a Wednesday evening? Let’s roll with the market and TAKE OVER 145.5 (-120) for 1 unit.

Toledo at Eastern Michigan odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Toledo Rockets at Eastern Michigan Eagles sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Toledo Rockets (1-1, 1-1 MAC) and Eastern Michigan Eagles (0-2, 0-2) meet in Ypsilanti, Mich., for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff Wednesday. Below, we analyze the Toledo-Eastern Michigan college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Toledo at Eastern Michigan: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Wednesday at 12:33 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Toledo -279 (bet $279 to win $100) | Eastern Michigan +220 (bet $100 to win $220)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Toledo -6.5 (-121) | Eastern Michigan +6.5 (+100)
  • Over/Under: 61.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Toledo at Eastern Michigan: Three things to know

  1. It will be interesting to see how Toledo responds after a last week’s 41-38 loss at Western Michigan. It isn’t so much that the Rockets lost, but how they lost. The Broncos recovered an onside kick late, and then won it with a fake spike which caught everyone in white off guard. It was a crushing defeat for Toledo, which led 38-28 with 2:54 to go.
  2. Toledo’s offense ranks 11th with 512.5 total yards per game, and 16th in the nation with 236.0 rushing YPG. Defensively, the Rockets have allowed just 352.0 total YPG and 146.0 rushing YPG. QB Eli Peters is one of the better signal callers in the MAC, too, going for 553 passing yards with five scores.
  3. Eastern Michigan has dropped its first two outings, but it has earned narrow covers in each. The Eagles lost 27-23 at Kent State in their opener as 4.5-point underdogs, and fell 38-31 at Ball State as eight-point dogs last week. The Achilles’ heel of the Eagles has been their defense, allowing 483.5 total YPG and 258.0 rushing YPG.

Toledo at Eastern Michigan: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Toledo 38, Eastern Michigan 31

Money line (ML)

TOLEDO (-279) is a little more expensive than I normally care to play, as I set my limit at -180 tops on most occasions. However, I am worried about the Rockets’ make-up following last week’s stunning loss, and Eastern Michigan (+220) has hung around in two hotly contested setbacks.

Against the spread (ATS)

TOLEDO -6.5 (-121) is worth playing lightly, but I am concerned about the Rockets. RB Shakif Seymour, who makes up half of the impressive one-two backfield punch with RB Bryant Koback, is a question mark due to a personal issue. Toss in the fact Toledo is 0-7 ATS in the past seven road games, and 1-5 ATS in the past six inside the MAC, and this is almost a contrarian play.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 61.5 (-110) is a nice play based on a lack of defense for both sides, and overwhelming trends. The Over is 7-1-1 in EMU’s past nine as an underdog, and 9-3-2 in the past 14 overall. The Over is 6-2 in Toledo’s past eight on the road, and 5-1 in the past six against teams with a losing overall mark.

Toledo at Western Michigan odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Toledo Rockets at Western Michigan Broncos sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Toledo Rockets (1-0, 1-0 MAC) and Western Michigan Broncos (1-0, 1-0) meet in Kalamazoo, Mich., for an 8 p.m. ET kickoff Wednesday. Below, we analyze the Toledo-Western Michigan college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

  • Money line: Toledo +105 (bet $100 to win $105) | Western Michigan -129 (bet $129 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Toledo +2.5 (-110) | Western Michigan -2.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 57.5 (O: -115 | U: -106)

Toledo at Western Michigan: Three things to know

  1. Toledo boat-raced rival Bowling Green last week by a 38-3 score, taking back the Battle for I-75 trophy in the rivalry game. The Rockets were good for 524 total yards, including 310 yards on the ground, while yielding just 267 total yards, of which 128 were through the air. They figure to get a much bigger test this week.
  2. Rockets RBs Shakif Seymour rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries, while Bryant Koback added 74 yards on 21 carries in last week’s victory. QB Eli Peters tossed four touchdowns and ran for 67 yards, showing off his dual-threat ability.
  3. Western Michigan pounded Akron 58-13 in a road opener last week, including a 28-0 run in the second half to pull away for good. The Broncos registered 484 total yards, 266 through the air and 218 on the ground. Defensively they were stout, allowing just 256 total yards, including 126 through the air. QB Kaleb Eleby hooked up with stud WR D’Wayne Eskridge for 114 of his 262 passing yards.

Toledo at Western Michigan: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Western Michigan 31, Toledo 26

Money line (ML)

WESTERN MICHIGAN (-129) is worth a small-unit play on the money line, especially if the spread were to rise to 3 and a hook. The Broncos were 6-0 SU and 5-1 ATS in six games at Waldo Stadium last season. They’ll be looking to avenge a 31-24 loss at the Glass Bowl last Oct. 5.

Against the spread (ATS)

WESTERN MICHIGAN -2.5 (-110) is 6-1-1 ATS across the past eight games game at home, including 5-1 ATS in the previous six as a home favorite. Toledo has failed to cover in the past six on the road, and is 2-10 ATS in the past 12 as an underdog. Roll with the trends here, which are very strong.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 57.5 (-106) is worth playing lightly. It hit rather easily in last season’s battle, and the Under is 6-2-1 in the previous nine for Western Michigan as a favorite. The Under is also 6-1 in their past seven in Kalamazoo. While the Over is the dominant trend for Toledo, the Under is 10-3 across its past 13 appearances on a Wednesday, including last week’s opening win over Bowling Green.

Bowling Green at Toledo odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Bowling Green Falcons at Toledo Rockets sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Bowling Green Falcons and Toledo Rockets open their seasons at the Glass Bowl in Toledo, Ohio, for an 8 p.m. ET kickoff Wednesday. Below, we analyze the Bowling Green-Toledo college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Bowling Green at Toledo: Betting odds and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Tuesday at 5 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Bowling Green +600 (bet $100 to win $600) | Toledo -1000 (bet $1,000 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Bowling Green +21.5 (-110) | Toledo -21.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 62.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Bowling Green at Toledo: Three things to know

  1. Bowling Green heads 25 miles north on Interstate 75 to meet Toledo in the 85th installment between these bitter Northwest Ohio rivals. Bowling Green won last season at Doyt Perry Stadium by a 20-7 count as a 26.5-point underdog, snapping a nine-game losing skid in this series. The Falcons haven’t won in Toledo since Nov. 28, 2008, when the team was coached by Gregg Brandon.
  2. There wasn’t a lot to cheer about for Bowling Green last season, as it was just 3-9 SU/ATS. The win over its bitter rival Toledo was probably the Falcons’ highlight of 2019. QB Matt McDonald, a transfer from Boston College, should give the Falcons improved play under center. He has a legit downfield threat in WR Julian Ortega-Jones, and TE Quintin Morris can also make plenty of noise.
  3. Toledo missed out on a bowl last season, in large part due to its ugly loss to the Falcons. The Rockets have plenty of firepower returning, however, and they will challenge for a division title. RBs Bryant Koback and Shakif Seymour are back to provide a tremendous one-two punch, and the defense returns seven starters.

Bowling Green at Toledo: Odds, prediction, betting lines and picks

Prediction

Toledo 36, Bowling Green 20

Money line (ML)

Toledo (-1000) is just too expensive, and there is no way to justify spending $10 for every $1 won. Plus, Bowling Green (+600) won outright as a 26.5-point underdog last season, proving there is never a sure thing. AVOID.

Against the spread (ATS)

BOWLING GREEN (+21.5, -110) will keep this one within three scores, as this underrated rivalry is usually fairly tight. In fact, the underdog is 5-1-1 ATS in the previous seven in this series. The road team is also 5-1-1 ATS across the past seven installments, so look for the Falcons to fly back home cashing as underdogs.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 62.5 (-110) is the way to go in the Battle of I-75, which is the name of the trophy these two now play for after years of fighting for the Peace Pipe Trophy. We saw a total of just 27 points in the 2019 installment. We’ll see a few more points on Wednesday night, but a lack of practice, chilly temperatures and a bitter rivalry should see the defense outplay the offense, at least early on. Plus, the Under is 10-3 in the past 13 meetings.
