Andre Lipcius promoted by Detroit

Former Vol Andre Lipcius has been promoted by the Detroit Tigers.

Former Vol Andre Lipcius has been promoted to Detroit’s Triple-A team, the Toledo Mudhens.

Lipcius opened the 2022 season with the Erie Seawolves, the Tigers’ Double-A affiliate.

Lipcius has appeared in 88 games this season, recording a .264 batting average and totaling 80 hits, 20 doubles, one triple and nine home runs, 52 runs, 39 RBIs and 12 stolen bases.

The former Vol was a third-round draft pick by Detroit in the 2019 MLB draft. He is the No. 20 prospect in the Tigers’ organization.

Lipcius played shortstop and third base at Tennessee from 2017-19.

He started 168 contests for the Vols and was a member of the SEC’s All-Freshman team in 2017.
