Myles Brennan ruled out, freshman TJ Finley to start at quarterback for LSU

LSU quarterback Myles Brennan will reportedly miss the Tigers’ game against South Carolina this Saturday.

LSU quarterback Myles Brennan will reportedly miss the Tigers’ game against South Carolina this Saturday. In his place, true freshman TJ Finley will make his first college start for the Tigers.

According to LSU head coach Ed Orgeron, Brennan, who is dealing with a “significant” lower-body injury, was injured in the 45-41 loss at Missouri two weeks ago.

Finley, a 6-foot-6, 242-pounder from Ponchatoula High, was a three-star prospect in the 2020 recruiting class.

Orgeron discussed both of his freshmen quarterbacks earlier this week, Finley and Max Johnson, stating he had confidence in both, per Fox 8.

To be honest, they both had fantastic weeks. Both of them are very impressive. I believe both of those guys have NFL talent at quarterback. Now they haven’t been in live-action; they’re both freshmen. We’re going to practice both of those quarterbacks this week.

Brennan was having a strong season before the injury, completing 60 percent of his passes with 1,112 yards, 11 touchdowns and three interceptions.
