Texans go for the jugular Twitter at Titans after beating ‘Fake Oilers’ in Week 18

The Texans made sure to clap back at the Tennessee Titans for their bad taste in wearing a Houston Oilers uniform.

The Tennessee Titans have worn their Houston Oilers jerseys twice against the Houston Texans.

They’ve yet to beat the new kids on the block that call H-Town home in those threads following a 23-14 loss on Sunday in the regular-season finale.

Best of all? The Texans’ social media remains undefeated when coming up with content to clapback at the Titans.

Earlier in the week, Tennessee changed its profile photo on X, formerly known as Twitter, and Instagram to the iconic oil derrick from the Oilers days.

As soon as the clock hit zero over at Nissan Stadium, Houston wasted little time firing back while making the team with the No. 1 overall hold another L to close out a bad year.

Houston kept the rig in place in titled it “Expectation.” On the opposing side, the team rearranged the oil derrick to form an L and titled it “Reality.”

That was only the beginning of the trolling.  Houston also hopped on the face that Tennessee still tries to act like it has ties with the Oilers by posting a photo of cooking oil with the caption, “found the oiL in tennessee.”

When you get up close to the bottle, the label reads:

For the second time since moving to Tennessee in 1996, the Titans have suffered a 14-loss season. Over the three decades they stood in Houston, the Oilers only lost 14 games.

Who said moving was always the best thing for one’s career?

The Texans continue their run toward a Super Bowl with a matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in the wild-card round.

Texans-Titans Week 18: Offense, defense and special teams snap counts

The Houston Texans secured a 10-win season on the final day of the regular season against the Tennessee Titans. Here’s the snap count.

Joe Mixon and Nico Collins entered the Houston Texans‘ history books.

It only took a drive for the duo to accomplish the feat before DeMeco Ryans elected to rest his offensive starters.

Mixon, the bell cow of the Texans’ ground game, became the sixth running back in franchise history to rush for over 1,000 yards in a single season. He became the first runner since Carlos Hyde in 2019 to accomplish the feat as the Texans coasted past the Tennesee Titans, 23-14.

“When you start clicking at the right time, you just want to keep seeing this,” Mixon said, using his hand to indicate a rising motion. “Keep trending upward. And pretty much we came out there and executed the game plan.”

The Texans (10-7) looked dead on arrival heading into the postseason. They had just come off perhaps the most embarrassing loss of DeMeco Ryans’ era with Queen Bey in the house.

Players said that this wasn’t Texans’ football, but most fans had seen enough regression during the regular season to call it a lie.

Maybe it was the competition or perhaps the frigid weather that gave the offense a spark, but Houston was playing loose.

It was having fun with backups like Dameon Pierce and Derek Barnett making must-see play in the second and fourth quarters, respectively.

“We enjoy being around one another,” quarterback C.J. Stroud said. “This year has been a lot of ups and downs. We’ve always stuck together. Every obstacle we face we always meshed well more.”

Win or lose, Houston was always locked into the No. 4 seed. They’ll host the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday afternoon with a chance to be the first team to punch their ticket to the AFC Divisional Round.
The Texans needed a win for morale over the record, but 10 victories sure sounds better than nine.
Here are the snap counts from both teams.

Offensive Snaps: 60

Defensive Snaps: 62

Special Teams Snaps: 23

Kickoff from NRG Stadium against Los Angeles is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. The game will be nationally televised on CBS.

Is Kamari Lassiter playing today? Latest updates for Texans CB

Kamari Lassiter will see action on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.

The Houston Texans are at a crossroads entering Week 18 of the regular season.

Starters are expected to play against the Tennessee Titans, but the question is for how long? Texans coach DeMeco Ryans initially didn’t plan on playing starters, but plans changed after an abysmal outing against the Baltimore Ravens on Christmas Day.

“For us right now, we’ve got to go play better,” Ryans said. “Our last outing on the field was not good enough. It was not representative of who we are. Defensively, offensively, just not a good representation of our team entirely. So we’ve got to go out and play better football.”

Among those who could miss the second half is rookie cornerback Kamari Lassiter. He appeared on the injury report after dealing with a calf strain and was limited during practice throughout the week.

Cornerback is a position lacking depth with both Jimmie Ward and Jalen Pitre out at the nickel position. Still, players want to end their season on a high note en route to a 10-win campaign.

“You can never take that for granted,” Texans running back Joe Mixon said. “You got people after this week that are going home. You’ve got 14 teams left and from there, it’s time to put your best stuff on tape. I think that we have a great opportunity in front of us to go out there against Tennessee to try and do whatever we can to go into the playoffs with a great taste.”

Kamari Lassiter update

Lassiter will play on Sunday at Nissan Stadium. Should the Texans pull out to a significant lead, Ryans will probably pull the No. 3 overall pick for rest.

Lassiter, who’s closing in on a breakout rookie season, appeared on the injury report with a calf issue but was a full participant during Friday’s drills.

Houston will face either the Pittsburgh Steelers or Los Angeles Chargers, depending on the Chargers’ outing against Las Vegas.

Kamari Lassiter stats

In 13 starts, Lassiter has established himself as a reliable coverage presence and as a tackler. He has 57 tackles, four tackles for loss, three interceptions and 10 pass breakups.

Last week, the second-round pick hit Baltimore Ravens Pro Bowl running back Derrick Henry for a safety by tackling him in the end zone for the Texans’ only points in a Christmas Day 31-2 loss.

Texans CB depth chart

Houston’s thin at cornerback entering Week 18. Veteran Jeff Okudah is out with a concussion. Meanwhile, Myles Bryant is limited to only playing in the nickel.

The Texans signed veteran D’Angelo Ross to the active roster on Saturday before departing for Nashville. Behind Lassiter and Derek Stingley Jr. are Russ Yeast and Kris Boyd.
