Prediction
Nuggets 112, Timberwolves 94
Moneyline (ML)
While there is little evidence DLoading and KAT can be winning basketball players, there is substantial proof the Timberwolves (+600) are terrible. They are tanking unintentionally. If the Nuggets (-910) get caught napping in this game and lose at home to Minnesota, it’ll be a coup de grâce in the rationale of not betting big favorites on the moneyline in regular-season NBA games.
PASS ON THE MONEYLINE.
Line/Against the Spread (ATS)
The Nuggets (-12.5, -115) are getting healthy at the right time, and so are the Timberwolves (+12.5, -106), in a draft order sense. Candidly speaking, I don’t know who Timberwolves C Naz Reid is and Nikola Jokic has played at an elite level after a slow start. Jokic is averaging 23 points per game since Dec. 1 compared to just 15.6 PPG in the games before December.
Minnesota has lost nine of its last 10 games outright and against the spread. Denver has lost back-to-back games to the Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Lakers, but I expect them to take their anger out on a bad ‘Wolves team. The Nuggets have a 7-6-2 ATS record at home against teams below .500 and the Timberwolves are 4-6 ATS on the road against teams above .500.
BET NUGGETS -12.5 (-115). New to sports betting? Bet $115 on the Nuggets to earn a $100 profit if they win by 13 or more points.
Over/Under (O/U)
The Over/Under record is 0-4 in the last four meetings and 2-5 in the last seven games in Denver. The Nuggets defense is ranked third in opponent 3-point percentage and the Timberwolves have the second-worst 3-point rate in the NBA, so we can bank on Denver neutralizing them, but, can the Nuggets score enough points to send this game Over?
Well, the Nuggets offense produces a 20th-best 110 points per game and I expect a bunch of Timberwolves players who aren’t big names to compete defensively but not be able to execute offensively.
TAKE UNDER 220.5 (-115).
