Prediction

Twins 4, Tigers 2

Moneyline (ML)

The Twins are -286 and Tigers are +250. The Tigers have lost eight of 10 games, and the Twins have won three in a row. They also are 27-16 when favored. There isn’t great value in taking the money line, but if you must, take the TWINS -286.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Twins to win returns a profit of $3.50.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The Twins are favored at -2.5 (+115) with the Tigers are -2.5 (-139). Detroit is 23-24 ATS as an underdog. The Twins are 20-23 ATS as favorites. Take the TIGERS +2.5 (-139).

Over/Under (O/U)

The total is set at eight runs, priced at -110 on both the Over and the Under. Maeda’s last six starts have been under eight runs. UNDER 8 RUNS.

Detroit Tigers at Minnesota Twins odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Tuesday’s Detroit Tigers at Minnesota Twins sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Detroit Tigers (22-30) are at Target Field Tuesday for the first game of a mini two-game series against the Minnesota Twins (33-22). The first pitch is scheduled for 7:40 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Tigers-Twins MLB betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

Tigers at Twins: Projected starting pitchers

LHP Tarik Skubal vs. RHP Homer Bailey

Skubal: 1-3 with a 6.17 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 9.6 K/9 and 3.1 BB/9 in 23 1/3 IP over 6 starts.

  • Last start (Sept. 16): Loss, 4-0, with 6 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 8 K and 0 BB against the Kansas City Royals.
  • This is Skubal’s rookie season, but he has already made two starts against the Twins. He’s 1-0 with 11 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 8 K and 2 BB.

Bailey has started only one game this season as he went to the 45-day injured list with a biceps injury. That start was a 6-3 Twins win over the St. Louis Cardinals July 28 in which he pitched five frames with only two earned runs.

  • Career vs. Tigers: 2-1 with a 2.45 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, 26 K and 9 BB in 33 IP over 5 starts.

Prediction

Twins 5, Tigers 2

Money line (ML)

The Twins (-182) beat the Chicago Cubs in back-to-back games and the Tigers (+160) lost three of four against the Cleveland Indians coming into Tuesday.

Minnesota owned Detroit in 2018-19 (26-12 record) but the 2020 season series is tied 4-4. All of Minnesota’s wins against Detroit have come in its home ballpark, in fact, the Twins are a 21-5 home team this year.

Minnesota has a top-5 pitching staff in several categories and Detroit is bottom-10 in batting average and OPS, and is missing its 3-hole hitter, Schoop.

I like Minnesota here but since Detroit is even with them this year in the season series, and the Twins (-182) are so expensive, I am PASSING ON THE MONEY LINE.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Both teams had Monday off and Minnesota (-1.5, +110) is 2-0 on the RL with a 2.5-run margin in games after a day off. The Tigers +1.5 (-134) have the second-worst run line record in the majors (13-21 RL) and getting plus-money for such a good home team is too enticing.

We’re gambling a little here but let’s TAKE TWINS -1.5 (+110). A $100 bet on the Twins -1.5 (+110) returns a $110 bet if Minnesota wins by 2 or more runs.

Over/Under (O/U)

We are going to follow the trends on our way to BETTING UNDER 9 (-110) in Tigers-Twins. The Under is 6-1 in the last seven meetings and 5-0 in the Twins’ last five games against a left-handed starter.

Minnesota division games cash the most Unders in MLB (9-27-2 Over/Under record) and Detroit is just 14-20 O/U against AL Central foes.

Detroit Tigers at Minnesota Twins odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Saturday’s Detroit Tigers at Minnesota Twins sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Detroit Tigers (17-19) and Minnesota Twins (24-16) continue their series at Target Field in Minneapolis with a 7:10 p.m. ET first pitch Saturday night. Below, we analyze the Tigers-Twins MLB betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

Tigers at Twins: Projected starting pitchers

LHP Tarik Skubal vs. RHP Kenta Maeda

Skubal is a 23-year-old rookie who has posted a 6.75 ERA and 1.61 WHIP through his first three MLB starts.

  • Facing the Twins for a second straight start. The lefty went five frames, allowing 2 earned runs on 3 hits last Saturday.
  • Scouting experts peg Skubal as a top-5 prospect in the Detroit system. He’s a four-pitch hurler with middle of the rotation potential. His fastball has been sitting at 95 mph over his first three starts.

Maeda is the veteran counterweight in this one. The 32-year-old righty owns a 2.53 ERA and 0.75 WHIP through 7 starts.

  • Has logged a would-be career-best 16.5% swinging-strike rate. Over his last three starts, Maeda has fanned 27 batters over 19 innings.
  • The former Dodgers starter is facing Detroit for a second consecutive outing. Allowed 3 earned on 6 hits over 6 innings Sunday.

Moneyline (ML)

The Tigers (+210) swept three games from the Twins a week ago, but Minnesota countered in taking both ends of Friday’s doubleheader to start this current five-game series.

Minnesota (-239) has won four straight games and has received tremendous pitching along the way (1.36 ERA). The Twins have been terrific at home with a 16-4 record, and they’re the lean here, even at MINNESOTA (-239).

New to sports betting? A winning $50 bet on the Twins returns a profit of $21.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

A deeper dive into both offenses shows the Tigers (+1.5, -110) to have an overcooked line, while there is room for growth on the Minnesota side.

These clubs are on the opposite ends of some key BABIP metrics (leading off innings, runners in scoring position, high-leverage situations). The Twins have the better bullpen and figure to get the deeper start on a day after a double-dip. TWINS -1.5 (-110) is a strong play.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS on the total: Over 8.5 (-110)/Under 8.5 (-110). No margin can be gained in either direction, and something in the Minnesota winning in the 6-2 or 6-3 range sets up as a likely outcome.
