The Witcher 3 on PS5 is getting a physical release

CD Projekt RED is publishing physical copies of The Witcher 3 for PS5 and Xbox Series X, complete with all next-gen updates

CD Projekt RED is publishing physical copies of The Witcher 3 for PS5 and Xbox Series X, complete with all the RPG’s recent next-gen updates. If you’re a collector, you get everything that released in December 2022’s big 4.0 update and a shiny box for your platform of choice.

CD Projekt RED didn’t announce how much the boxed version will cost, though since the digital versions cost $49.99, it’s probably safe to assume the physical edition will cost the same amount.

In case you missed the next-gen update when it first released, it includes asset and texture upgrades, ray tracing, and other improvements, alongside a new set of quests and diagrams to help you craft Witcher gear inspired by Netflix’s The Witcher series. Yes, you too can look like Henry Cavill’s Geralt, which is more than Henry Cavill will be doing now that he’s left the show.

Despite introducing improvements, the next-gen patch came with a few problems of its own, including asset pop-in. CDPR said the team is working on a patch to address some of those issues, though didn’t provide a timeline for when to expect it.

If you’re on PC, you might want to check out a new mod that improves the next-gen version’s graphics even further.

The Witcher 3 next-gen update on PC is full of bugs

The Witcher 3’s next-gen update is here for PC, but it’s rather full of bugs, with players reporting crashes, memory leaks, and worse

The Witcher 3 next-gen update is live for console and PC, bringing with it new quests, visual improvements, and even a photo mode to take endless pictures of Geralt and Roach in the RPG – assuming you can get the game to run. While the console version seems to be humming along just fine, some players say The Witcher 3’s next-gen update on PC is suffering from a number of issues, with a few even claiming the game is borderline unpayable.

Some of the minor issues include stuttering framerates, while more serious problems range from memory leaks – which can cause assets to not load – crashes, and more serious visual glitches.

CD Projekt RED acknowledged the issues on Twitter and said they’re working on fixing the issues as soon as possible and posted another update asking for players to continue providing feedback on the issues they’re encountering.

When the PC version may get another patch is uncertain, but again, the console version seems to be fine. Once you do dive in on PC, make sure to take on the new In the Eternal Fire’s Shadow quest so you can grab the Netflix armor for Geralt. It’s the closest he’ll look to Henry Cavill’s Witcher, which is some consolation for Cavill no longer filling Geralt’s boots in The Witcher’s next season.
