Aubrey Beckham wins MVP of The Throne basketball tournament

Hebron Christian Academy, led by tournament MVP Aubrey Beckham, won The Throne national basketball championship.

Aubrey Beckham showed off the entirety of her skill set during The Throne as she led Hebron Christian Academy (Ga.) to the national basketball tournament’s championship.

The four-star junior posted a stat line of 15 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in the 61-52 title game victory over South Shore’s Lady Vikings representative.

In the semifinals, Hebron Christian defeated Bishop Ireton behind 17 points, seven rebounds, and four assists from Beckham and an impressive 23 points, 16 rebounds, and an assist from Ja’Kerra Butler.

Hebron Christian went 30-2 during its season, winning the championship in a tight 62-60 victory over Wesleyan. Beckham was named to the all-state first team; Butler was named to the second team, and Mia James and Danielle Osho were honorable mentions.

Beckham, a 5-foot-10 junior, was named All-Region 8-AAA Co-Player of the Year in both of the last two seasons, according to the team website.

She showed in this tournament that she’s not just dominant against Georgia teams — her peers around the nation also struggle to handle her play.

With this win, Hebron’s season culminates with its back-to-back state championships (after going 32-0 last year) and a national tournament title.

The basketball season is wrapping down, with just a handful of games around the country and the Chipotle Nationals coming up next week.

Hebron Christian can rest easy for the offseason, knowing most of its team, including Beckham, Butler, James, and Osho, will be back next year.

Brayden Burries dominates The Throne to lead The Vale to championship

Roosevelt’s The Vale basketball team beat No. 3 Columbus to win The Throne behind five-star Brayden Burries’ dominant efforts.

Against some of the top competition in the nation, Roosevelt High School (Eastvale, Calif.) junior Brayden Burries proved why he’s a five-star recruit against some of the other top players in the class of 2025.

Burries led the Vale, Roosevelt’s team, to a championship in The Throne, a tournament between 16 teams. Eleven of the teams are ranked in the Super 25 national rankings and three have been ranked previously this season, making it a who’s-who of boys basketball.

The who’s-who is Burries, who recorded 34 points and 10 rebounds in the semifinals and then hit the game-winning and-one floater over the No. 3 team in the country, Columbus, in the waning seconds of the championship game:

He also hit a contested layup in the final minutes of semifinals, vitally important to clinching this game.

In doing so, he and Roosevelt showed they could match up with an elite unit at Columbus led by the Boozer twins, Cameron and Cayden. Ranked the No. 2 and No. 14, respectively, players in 247Sports’ 2025 composite rankings class of 2025, Burries’ success indicates his ranking at No. 12 may be too low despite the five-star mark.

Listed at 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds, Burries won MVP with averages of 27 points and eight rebounds in the tournament. In addition to his elite finals and semifinals outings, he recorded a 26-point, 10-rebound double-double in the quarterfinals. He drove and finished with poise and agility, as shown above and in this high-arching finish:

Roosevelt went 31-4 during its season, which put them at No. 19 in the Super 25 entering the week.  After losing to No. 5 Harvard-Westlake twice in the playoffs, this tournament ties a bow on an extremely impressive season, one in which the Mustangs were undoubtedly among the best in the nation.

At The Throne, they proved it.

‘The Throne’ released their bracket this week, including four of the top 10 teams in the USA TODAY High School Sports Super 25. Heading line the event will be No. 2 Plano East (Plano, Texas) and No. 3 Columbus (Miami, Florida) as well as No. 7 Grayson (Loganville, Georgia).

‘The Throne’ tournament will crown a top boys and girls basketball team this March

A top high school basketball tournament, The Throne, will be held March 27-30 in New Jersey.

The American Dream is not only alive and well, it is apparently also a Hoop Dream.

Horrific puns aside, the American Dream (East Rutherford, New Jersey) will host ‘The Thone,’ a high school basketball tournament. The tournament will run from March 27-30.

The top team on the boys side is Columbus (Miami, Florida), ranked second in the nation in this week’s USA TODAY HSS Super 25. No. 4 Plano East (Plano, Texas) and No. 13 Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, New Jersey) are also featured among the 16 teams on the boys side.

One of the teams in the tournament, McEachern High School (Powder Springs, Georgia) features Ace Bailey. A five-star forward who is committed to Rutgers, Bailey was named the No. 1 player in the nation this week by USA TODAY High School Sports.

The event is being run in conjunction with Gold Level Sports & Entertainment and the National Basketball Players Association.

There is also a very deep and talented girls division. Bishop McNamara (Forestville, Maryland) is the tournament’s top team followed by second-seeded Morris Catholic (Denville, New Jersey).
