The Harvester Club exists simply to be a place where members and their guests can experience great camaraderie while enjoying a game they love. It is a golf club, nothing more and nothing less. Built on the enduring principles of the past, The Harvester Club is an old-fashioned golf club dedicated to the simplicity and authenticity of the game. Honoring, preserving, and advancing the timeless traditions of the game of golf are at the core of our beliefs. Members will experience a challenging yet enjoyable round of golf with few rules, no tee times and fast play, all while being surrounded by others that share the same love for the game.

Peace and quiet pervade as the facilities offer everything you need and nothing that you do not. The club offers the perfect retreat set in off-the-beaten path Rhodes, Iowa, a 30-minute commute from nearby capital Des Moines. The golf course opened in 2000 as a championship public golf course. In 2002, became the #1 golf course in Iowa and ranked as high as #52 in Golfweek’s Top 100 Modern List in both 2006 and 2007. After 17 years of operating as a public golf course, The Jensen Family, who has owned the property since the beginning, decided to close the doors and bring upon a grand venture: remodel the golf course, renovate the facilities, and make the switch to a quaint and quiet private club.

Keith Foster was hired in 1998 to design the original golf course and was brought back in 2017 to work with the Jensen Family to accomplish their goal; utilize a very good existing golf course and enhance it with ideas that many of America’s great golf courses were built upon in the Golden Age of Golf Architecture. Dickson Jensen, owner, has always believed “great golf courses are not built, they are found.” A variety of oaks, rolling terrain, and a 60-acre lake with meandering creeks and watering ponds for livestock give the property a dramatic flare and allowed Foster to bring unbelievable golf holes to life. Great vistas combined with firm and fast conditions allow for each step at The Harvester Club to be tranquil yet cautious as the green complexes will be sure to test every part of the player’s game.

The Harvester Club is all golf. No pools, tennis facilities, or spas are a part of The Harvester Club’s vision. While these features at clubs can be very beneficial, they often distract from the golf experience. This allows both the grounds team and clubhouse team to be solely focused on members, golf, and offering a truly unique experience.

The golf course lays out in a par 72 with four one-shotters and four par 5’s. The golf course has tremendous variety and each hole is cut from different cloth and does not have a weak or goofy hole on property. You can ask a foursome what their favorite and least favorite hole was and will likely get a different answer for each player. The unique experience at The Harvester Club is something you will be hard pressed to find anywhere!
