The Drew League announced on Wednesday, in accordance with the public safety recommendations by city and state officials, that the 2020 season will be canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The summer basketball tradition centered in Los Angeles attracts hoop fans each year as NBA players have been known to show up and play. Players like Kevin Durant, James Harden, DeMar DeRozan and Chris Paul are among those that have participated in the past.
Most recently, LaMelo Ball played in the Drew League last summer as a tune-up before heading to the National Basketball League in Australia. He often showed out and even put on 10-15 pounds of muscle prior to heading abroad.

Of course, the news of the Drew League canceling its season is not surprising given the circumstances surrounding the coronavirus. The NBA and other professional leagues have yet to resume play and there is no definitive timetable for when live sports can return.
