Report: T.J. Finley to miss SEC opener against Mizzou

A shoulder injury will sideline Auburn’s starting quarterback for this weekend.

Auburn won’t have its starting quarterback when it faces off against Missouri on Saturday.

Tom Green of AL.com reported on Twitter [autotag]that T.J. Finley[/autotag] is slated to miss the Mizzou game after injuring his shoulder, though it’s currently unknown if the injury is severe enough to keep him sidelined over multiple weekends. This news comes after Auburn’s Week 4 depth chart showed Finley starting over [autotag]Robby Ashford[/autotag] as normal.

Ashford would seem to be the pick to take over the starting spot in Finley’s stead. In his playing time thus far, Ashford currently has a 51.7% completion percentage and has thrown for 245 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. The backup role would go to either Texas A&M transfer Zach Calzada or freshman four-star quarterback Holden Geriner, both of whom appear to be healthy but have yet to play during gameday.

Against Penn State, Ashford threw a touchdown and an interception while completing just 52.6% of his passes.
