  • Money line: Kansas +135 (bet $100 to win $135) | Texas Tech -160 (bet $160 to win $100)

  • Over/Under: 133.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Kansas at Texas Tech: Three things to know

  1. Kansas has won six straight games, including a 95-50 beatdown of Nebraska Omaha as a 24.5-point favorite Dec. 11. Outside of the previous win, the Jayhawks haven’t exactly blown by competition and are just 2-4 ATS this year.
  2. Texas Tech has its own four-game win streak going, winning three by double-digits, but the Red Raiders failed to cover as 28-point home favorites in a 77-57 win over Texas A&M Corpus Christi Dec. 12.
  3. Since head coach Chris Beard took the Texas Tech gig in 2016-17, the Red Raiders are 2-6 straight up and 4-4 ATS against Kansas. The Jayhawks were 2-0 against the Red Raiders last season, but they covered the spread in only one of the two games.

Kansas at Texas Tech: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Kansas 67, Texas Tech 63

Money line (ML)

This is the squarest play ever—backing a nationally popular, blue blood Kansas basketball program against an up and coming Texas Tech team, but GIMME KANSAS (+135) for three-fourths of a unit.

According to Pregame.com, this is a Pros vs. Joes game with 57% of the cash on Texas Tech but 53% of the bets placed are on Kansas. So I’m rolling with the public, aka, the people that make bookmakers rich.

Texas Tech has a higher net efficiency rating but the Red Raiders have played a cupcake schedule (ranked 210th in the nation). Kansas’ only loss is to No. 1 Gonzaga, and the Jayhawks have wins over top-10 (at the time) ranked teams in Kentucky and Creighton.

Against the spread (ATS)

TAKE KANSAS +3 (-110) for 1.25 units. It’s just a wiser strategy long-term to insure a money line wager with a full possession, especially in a rivalry game, if you can get it.

Texas Tech is incorporating new pieces—transfers G Mac McClung and F Marcus Santos-Silva—who have yet to play in this atmosphere whereas Kansas has three upperclassmen in its lineup.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS ON THE TOTAL with a slight lean on the Under 133.5 (-110). Texas Tech has one of the slower paces in the country and with this being a conference game, I think the possession by possession intensity helps the Under.

However, the Over has cashed in seven of the last eight meetings and I don’t have a strong enough handicap of the total to step in front of that trend.

Oklahoma is No. 24 in the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Oklahoma at Texas Tech: Betting odds and lines

  • Money line: Oklahoma -589 (bet $589, win $100) | Texas Tech +430 (bet $100, win $430)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Oklahoma -15.5 (-110) | Texas Tech +15.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 67.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Oklahoma at Texas Tech: Three things to know

  1. Despite just four losses over the last two seasons, Oklahoma has covered the spread only five times in its last 15 games.
  2. Oklahoma is averaging the eighth-most passing yards per game this season at 352.8. Meanwhile, Texas Tech is allowing 337 passing YPG. Look for a ton of combined passing yards Saturday evening.
  3. Texas Tech has covered the spread in five of its last six games against Oklahoma.

Oklahoma at Texas Tech: Odds, prediction, betting lines and picks

Prediction

Oklahoma 42, Texas Tech 21

Money line (ML)

Oklahoma (-589) is a huge favorite. While the Sooners have won eight-straight games over the Red Raiders, it’s tough to trust this team given its young quarterback and poor defense. Expect Oklahoma to win, but PASS on the money line as the odds just aren’t favorable enough to take the Sooners.

Against the spread (ATS)

OKLAHOMA (-15.5) shouldn’t have a problem scoring at will. It’s just up to its defense to slow down Texas Tech’s offense. Provided it gets a few stops, expect Oklahoma to win by 20 or more in this game as it’s clearly the more talented team. Back OKLAHOMA (-15.5).

Over/Under (O/U)

The total is set at an absurd 67.5 points, which feels a bit high despite Oklahoma averaging 40 points per game this season. Texas Tech’s offense has been up and down as it was held to only 15 points against Iowa State a few weeks ago. Expect the Red Raiders to score into the 20s but for the UNDER 67.5 to ultimately hit at Jones AT&T Stadium.

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Friday at 3:20 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: West Virginia -134 (bet $134, win $100) | Texas Tech +110 (bet $100, win $110)
  • Against the spread/ATS: West Virginia -2.5 (-115) | Texas Tech +2.5 (-106)
  • Over/Under: 54.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

West Virginia at Texas Tech: Three things to know

  1. Both teams have been fantastic on offense this season, averaging over 31 points per game. These offenses can score in a hurry as each side has no problem throwing the ball 40 to 50 times per game.
  2. While the sample size is small, West Virginia’s defense has been fantastic. The Mountaineers are allowing fewer than 19 points per game and giving up under four yards per carry.
  3. Texas Tech has really struggled inside the conference, losing six straight games in the Big 12 going back to last year. The Red Raiders also lost five of their last six games to West Virginia.

West Virginia at Texas Tech: Odds, prediction, betting lines and picks

Prediction

West Virginia 33, Texas Tech 27

Money line (ML)

WEST VIRGINIA (-134) is a slight money line favorite Saturday afternoon. West Virginia has won four of its last five games with impressive wins over Kansas and Baylor. Meanwhile, the only win of the season for Texas Tech has come against Houston Baptist and that was only a 2-point victory for the Red Raiders.

Expect this game to be close, but for the Mountaineers to win.

Against the spread (ATS)

WEST VIRGINIA -2.5 (-115) opens this game as more than a field-goal favorite over Texas Tech on the road. Texas Tech has really struggled against the spread, failing to cover in five of its last six games. West Virginia has been up and down against the spread lately, but the Mountaineers are the better team in this one. They should be able to score into the mid-30s and win this game by a touchdown.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for this Big 12 matchup is set at 54.5 points. While West Virginia’s defense has played well this season, it hasn’t faced many top offenses. Both squads can score easily into the 30s and it wouldn’t be a surprise if that’s the type of game we see here. Look for the OVER 54.5 (-110) to hit with relative ease as both teams will want to throw early and often.
