Texas A&M star RB Le’Veon Moss reveals his future plans

Texas A&M star running back Le’Veon Moss will officially return for his 2025 senior season!

According to his Instagram post, Texas A&M’s 2025 roster received a significant boost, as incoming senior running back Le’Veon Moss will officially return next season. His season-ending injury this season has motivated the veteran back to have a career year in 2025.

While nothing is official until the player himself releases an announcement, it was presumed that Moss would give it another go, mainly so his lower-body injury could completely heal, while his future draft stock will likely soar behind Texas A&M’s veteran offensive line, which should return nearly every starter from the 2024 roster.

Moss was the focal point of Texas A&M’s offense this season before sustaining a knee injury in the loss to South Carolina, finishing the year with 765 yards and ten touchdowns, including a 63 yards per carry average that led the SEC for most of the year.

Moss’s powerful running style, coupled with his elite vision and footwork, was sorely missed after his injury, and given the added depth from the 2025 recruiting class, Texas A&M’s running back room is in the best shape it’s been in years after Moss’s announcement.

Texas A&M will host Alabama transfer wide receiver this weekend

Texas A&M will reportedly host another SEC wide receiver this weekend

It’s no surprise that Texas A&M Coach Mike Elko is focused on adding talent at the wide receiver position. While the additions of Micah Hudson and Mario Craver are undoubtedly intriguing, both players lack experience and may take time to adjust to their new roles.

After hosting North Carolina State transfer WR KC Concepcion will visit Texas A&M this weekend, the Aggies aren’t done hosting veteran receivers, as 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz confirmed that Alabama transfer receiver/kick returner Emmanuel Henderson would visit Texas A&M on Saturday.

Henderson is another interesting option, but he doesn’t fit the “experienced” receiver role compared to the incoming visitor, Miami transfer WR Isaiah Horton. However, loading up from a depth perspective is never bad, especially before the spring football season.

In two seasons with Alabama, Henderson recorded five receptions for 96 yards, including 20.4 yards per reception this season.

Texas A&M’s wide receiver room currently has ten players on the roster heading into the spring season.

North Carolina State transfer wide receiver has arrived for his Texas A&M visit

North Carolina transfer wide receiver KC Concepcion has arrived for his weekend visit to Texas A&M

Texas A&M’s 2025 wide receiver room could be another significant addition to an already loaded room, as former North Carolina State WR Kevin “KC” Concepcion has reportedly arrived for his visit to College Station on Friday, which is big news after weeks of speculation.

According to Texas A&M recruiting insider Jaxson Callaway, also known as AggiesToday to the masses, Concepcion touched down in CSTAT late Thursday night and will likely spend the next two to three days with Coach Mike Elko and his staff. However, Concepcion will head to Miami (FL) after his Aggie visit.

Regardless, Elko and his team have a real opportunity to secure his commitment as early as this weekend. The incoming junior understands that he will join the program as a starter right away, thanks to his previous performance and exceptional skill set.

In two seasons with the Wolfpack, Concepcion recorded 124 receptions, 1,299 yards, and 16 touchdowns, bringing a blend of speed and excellent route running despite dealing with quarterback issues throughout his collegiate career.

If the Aggies can reel him in, Texas A&M’s 2025 wide receiver room suddenly looks like one of the best units in the country heading into the spring football season.

Updated Transfer Portal team rankings this offseason

Here are the updated transfer portal team rankings after Texas A&M’s sixth portal commitment

Texas A&M’s transfer portal strategy has been focused on offense, specifically adding wide receivers and tight ends to fill out the 2025 depth chart and help quarterback Marcel Reed develop as a passer in his second entire season as the starter.

However, the defensive line is as thin as ever after several departures to the portal. In contrast, defensive linemen Nic Scourton, Shemar Stewart, and Shemar Turner have all declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, which was expected before the end of the season.

After opening on December 9, the transfer portal will close on the 28th, meaning players currently on College Football Playoff rosters have eight days to decide, especially if their team falls in the coming days.

Concerning A&M’s defensive line issues, Coach Mike Elko is likely waiting for more defenders to enter the portal outside of the recent and future visitors, which will realistically happen in the coming days.

Rankings-wise, the Aggies are still among the top ten teams in portal success. Still, no one has matched Texas Tech so far this offseason, as the Red Raiders have landed 16 commitments, essentially rebuilding their entire roster ahead of the 2025 season.

Texas A&M has landed six players from the portal:

  • Quarterback Jacob Zeno
  • Wide receiver Micah Hudson
  • Wide receiver Mario Craver
  • Tight end Micah Riley
  • Tight end Nate Boerkicher
  • Cornerback Julian Humphrey

Here are the top 10 transfer portal team rankings according to 247Sports latest update:

  1. Texas Tech, 16 commits (Team Average, 89.00)
  2. Ole Miss, 12 commits (Team Average, 89.27)
  3. LSU, 10 commits (Team Average, 89.56)
  4. Auburn, 11 commits (Team Average, 88.70)
  5. Mississippi State, 10 commits (Team Average, 87.22)
  6. Wisconsin, 12 commits (Team Average. 86.78)
  7. Texas A&M, 6 commits (Team Average, 89.80)
  8. Minnesota, 11 commits (Team Average, 86.70)
  9. Oregon, 5 commits (Team Average, 90.00)
  10. Missouri, 7 commits (Team Average, 88.50)

Texas A&M might need to go all-in on Florida State transfer defensive end

Texas A&M HC Mike Elko might need to break the bank for one of the top pass rushers in the transfer portal

Texas A&M has brought in six players from the transfer portal this offseason, including former Nebraska tight end Nate Boerkircher, who will enhance the team’s blocking for both pass and run protection.

For those upset with the Aggies’ lack of success in landing defensive linemen from the portal, patience is key, as Coach Mike Elko and his staff signed defensive end Nic Scourton and several other defenders in early January last offseason, which could be the case this offseason over the next couple of weeks.

However, it’s fair to be worried that Elko and his staff have likely been outbid concerning several defensive end transfer options, including former Purdue Will Heldt, who committed to Clemson on Thursday afternoon. Heldt’s visit to Texas A&M was seemingly successful, but this move made sense given the Tiger’s tracker record of developing defensive linemen.

Nevertheless, plenty of DL options are available in the portal, including former Florida State defensive end Patrick Payton, looking for a new home to play his final collegiate season.

Through three seasons, Payton was the 2022 ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year, recording 109 tackles, 16 sacks, 32 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, and 12 pass deflections.

If healthy, Payton would be an immediate plug-and-play option to replace Nic Scourton’s lost production while taking the pressure off incoming senior DL Cashius Howell.

Texas A&M lands a commitment from former Nebraska tight end

Texas A&M has landed its second tight end commitment from the transfer portal

Texas A&M’s tight end room is well-equipped going into the 2025 season. Coach Mike Elko has landed a commitment from former Nebraska TE Nate Boerkircher, who will enter his senior season after four seasons in Lincoln (NE).

Aggies fans might be concerned about the absence of defensive line additions from the portal, but Nate Boerkircher provides a nice boost as a blocker. At the same time, his size and athleticism can impact the short passing game and provide Texas A&M QB Marcel Reed with another passing target.

Under OC Collin Klein, Texas A&M’s running game will continue to be an emphasis, which requires a lot from the tight end rotation ranging from inline blocking to splitting out wide to enhance the quick passing game.

During his junior seasons, Boerkircher earned a 61 run-blocking grade and 65 pass-blocking grade per Pro Football Focus, which, as Gigem247’s Carter Karels noted, would have been the best scores for any TE on A&M’s 2024 roster.

Nate Boerkircher joins former Auburn TE Micah Riley, likely completing Texas A&M’s tight end rotation for the 2025 season.

Former Miami (FL) wide receiver will reportedly visit Texas A&M

Texas A&M will reportedly another top-ranked transfer portal wide receiver

Coach Mike Elko and his team have concentrated on Texas A&M’s offense this offseason, particularly with the addition of four players from the transfer portal: quarterback Jacob Zeno, wide receivers Micah Hudson and Mario Craver, and tight end Micah Riley.

Although Aggie fans are concerned about the minimal additions to the defensive line, we are still in the early phase of the transfer portal. The spring portal will likely present more opportunities if Elko and his team fail to land D-line depth in the following weeks. Nevertheless, it’s promising to see the staff prioritizing offensive playmakers.

On Thursday, it was revealed by On3’s Pete Nakos that Miami (FL) transfer wide receiver Isaiah Horton will reportedly visit three SEC programs, including Texas A&M, Alabama, and Georgia, as the sophomore wideout is coming off his best season yet, recording 56 receptions, 616 yards and five touchdowns in 2024.

However, Horton’s production declined toward the end of the season. With Miami QB Cam Ward off to the NFL, Horton is looking for a fresh start, preferably in the SEC.

Texas A&M is hosting North Carolina State transfer wide receiver KC Concepcion on Thursday.

Former Texas A&M QB Zach Calzada is headed back to SEC for the 2025 season

The Kentucky Wildcats have landed a commitment from former Texas A&M and Incarnate Word QB Zach Calzada

Texas A&M won’t face Kentucky during the 2025 college football season. Still, a familiar face is headed back to the SEC as quarterback Zach Calzada will transfer to Lexington and compete for the starting QB job with the Wildcats and veteran head coach Mark Stoops.

Calzada’s journey is truly documentary-worthy. The former Texas A&M quarterback has just completed his best collegiate season after two full years at Incarnate Word, where he threw for 3,744 yards, achieved 35 touchdowns, and recorded only nine interceptions this season.

Calzada’s 2021 season with the Aggies was cemented in history after leading Texas A&M to one of the program’s most significant wins over No. 1 ranked Alabama after a 3-2 start to the year. Calzada’s impressive play in the pocket showed his potential as a Power 5 starter.

While his future with the Aggies could have been extended if it wasn’t for Texas A&M’s loaded 2022 quarterback room, Calzada briefly transferred to Auburn before injuries and poor play led him to fix his issues with Incarnate Word.

At 6-4 and 200-plus pounds, Calzada’s arm talent is undeniable and will more than likely lead to earning the starting quarterback job for a Kentucky team in desperate need of a reliable option under center.

Edgerrin Cooper has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week

For the second time this season, former Texas A&M LB Edgerrin Cooper was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week

If you asked a Texas A&M football fan if Edgerrin Cooper would be a productive linebacker in the NFL, the resounding response would be yes. The rookie Green Bay Packer is projected to be a starter for a very long time in the league and is on the road to being a pro bowler in the future.

Early in his career, he is already collecting accolades and was just named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. He is the first Packer to win this twice in the same season since Clay Matthews and the first Packers rookie. This comes after his big game against the Seattle Seahawks where he made plays all over the field, recording 7 tackles, a sack and an interception.

Cooper is emerging as one of the better defensive rookies this season and is looking every bit as a steal as a second-round pick.

Texas A&M’s Las Vegas Bowl D-line starters announced amid departures

Texas A&M HC Mike Elko announced who will step in place of Nic Scourton, Shemar Stewart, and Shemar Turner vs. USC in the Las Vegas Bowl

Texas A&M’s 2024 regular season might be over, but the Aggies still have a chance to win nine games and head into the 2025 offseason with momentum. Coach Mike Elko and his staff will be without 22 players, including 19 who entered the transfer portal and three NFL Draft-bound defenders.

While this was expected, depth across the defensive line is an issue going into next Friday’s Las Vegas Bowl vs. USC, as starting defensive ends Nic Scourton and Shemar Stewart were the first players to declare for the draft. In contrast, senior defensive tackle Shemar Turner announced his intentions on Tuesday.

During Monday’s pre-bowl press conference, Elko discussed the departures while noting the team’s budding culture and the opportunity presented to the younger players, especially on defense, who will play the entire game and gain more experience heading into next season.

“For some of our seniors, there is a chance for them to go out and have a big game against USC. … It’s an individual basis. Our kids trust in the culture here. They trust in the coaches. They trust in what we’re saying.”

Along the defensive line, Elko confirmed that Edge/defensive end Cashius Howell, defensive tackle DJ Hicks, and defensive end Rylan Kennedy will likely play the entire game outside of a handful of snaps.

Howell, a star in the making during his first season with the Aggies, ended the year with 35 tackles and three sacks, earning a 73 defensive grade and a team-high 82.6 pass-rush grade per Pro Football Focus.

Kennedy, who finished the year with 19 tackles and 1.5 sacks, earned the second-highest PFF pass-rush grade (81.0), while DJ Hicks started most of the season next to Shemar Turner, finishing with 14 tackles and 1.5 sacks.

Texas A&M will face USC in the Las Vegas Bowl on Friday, Dec. 27. The game will air on ESPN at 9:30 CT.
