Texas A&M is now in the race for 2025 4-star ATH out of Memphis (TN)

2025 4-star Jamarion Morrow should be visiting Texas A&M sooner than later

Texas A&M’s 2025 recruiting class could see an influx of talent before National Signing Day on Wednesday, Dec. 4, as the recent news that 5-star offensive tackle Lamont Rogers and Missouri commit is a favorite to flip to the Aggies, another Tigers could change his decision.

On Monday, it was revealed by 247Sports Missouri beat writer Sean Williams that 2025 4-star athlete/running back and Missouri commit Jamarion Morrow is planning on taking an official visit to Texas A&M sooner than later, possibly during the Aggies’ season-finale vs. Texas.

Morrow is well acquainted with the Aggie coaching staff after an official visit on June 7. The talented and highly versatile playmaker would add immediate depth to an Aggie running back room needing young talent to pair with likely returners Amari Daniels, Rueben Owens, and, possibly, Le’Veon Moss by the start of the 2025 season.

During the bulk of his high school playing career, Morrow has been a two-way player. He accounted for over 1,200 all-purpose yards and 12 touchdowns while recording 24 tackles and four interceptions during his 2023 junior season.

According to 247Sports, Morrow is currently positioned as the 32nd-ranked athlete and the 17th-ranked prospect in Tennessee.

Texas A&M will face Auburn on the road on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 6:30 pm. CT. The game will air on ESPN.

Big changes to Texas A&M’s Week 13 injury report ahead of facing Auburn

Could running back Rueben Owens return to the lineup this season?

15th-ranked Texas A&M (8-2, 5-1 SEC) will head to Alabama this weekend to face Auburn (4-6, 1-5 SEC) in a must-win matchup for the Aggies, who are vying for a spot in the SEC Title game and the College Football Playoff.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that the Aggies will stay at No. 15 in the CFP rankings, still needing to win out to reach the 12-team field. However, this isn’t a surprise, even though A&M’s two losses are to South Carolina (on the road) and Notre Dame, who are both ranked.

This week, head coach Mike Elko’s focus on the Auburn Tigers hasn’t wavered despite his slip of the tongue on Monday, knowing that playing on the road in any SEC environment, especially at night, is always a significant challenge.

Injury-wise, Monday’s news that junior wide receiver Cyrus Allen will miss the rest of the season isn’t as surprising as the newest Wednesday availability report, revealing two key injury updates to starting left guard Chase Bisontis and sophomore running back Rueben Owens.

Texas A&M injury updates:

  • Rueben Owens – RB (Doubtful)
  • Le’Veon Moss – RB (Out for the season)
  • Mark Nabou – OL (Out for the season)
  • Tyreek Chappell – DB
  • Chase Bisontis – OL (Doubtful)
  • Jaylen Henerson – QB
  • Cyrus Allen – WR (Out for the season)

Auburn injury updates:

Chase Bisontis Update:

While Elko didn’t provide an update on Monday, starting left guard Chase Bisontis likely won’t play against Auburn unless something changes this week. However, Wednesday’s reveal gives the sophomore a 25% chance to play, meaning a return to Texas is almost guaranteed if he doesn’t suit up this weekend.

Rueben Owens Update:

This was the most surprising news of the week, as the rumblings regarding Rueben Owen’s return to the active roster after his previous season-ending lower leg injury have come to fruition. Listed as doubtful, Owens, like Bisontis, has a 25% chance to make his season debut, but this is a great sign either way regarding his eventual return to A&M’s depleted RB room.

Auburn Tigers HC Hugh Freeze praises Texas A&M’s roster

Hugh Freeze knows planning for Texas A&M is difficult task at home or not

The one thing Texas A&M has not lacked is talent over the last decade, but it has not also translated well onto the field. This 2024 football team under Mike Elko is showing signs of growth in his first season which usually takes longer when dealing with a team with so many new faces.

There are still a few hiccups, but the team has looked like a top-25 team even while learning a new system on both sides of the ball. Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze acknowledged during the SEC Teleconference that A&M has a roster full of athletic players making it one of the best in the conference.

“It’s a complete SEC roster. I don’t see any weaknesses. It rivals those from my previous stints here and the two years I’ve been back in the league. This roster rivals some of the best I’ve seen in the league.”

When talking about the defense specifically he was right to the point about what issues they present with physical traits alone.

“They’re long. They’re big. They’re quick-twitch. And their scheme is really good. They’re really tough to prepare for.”

However, just like in South Carolina, playing at Jordan-Hare Stadium at night can be intimidating for any team and when the crowd gets rocking it can be heard for miles away. Auburn wants to play spoiler for Texas A&M as a slip of the tongue has the internet wondering if the Aggies are looking pass the Tigers.

The Texas A&M vs. Auburn game starts at 6:30 pm CST and can be seen on ESPN.

Texas A&M’s Randy Bond has been named a Lou Groza Award Semifinalist

Graduate kicker Rand Bond has been named a Lou Groza Award Semifinalist.

On Tuesday morning, the Groza Award committee announced the 2024 Lou Groza Award Semifinalists. Texas A&M’s graduate kicker Randy Bond made the cut as one of the remaining 20.

Bond is having his best season so far as an Aggie going 17 of 19 through eight weeks with his last miss coming against Florida in Week 3. He has a season long of 55 yards and his accuracy saw a huge jump from around a 75% rate to nearly 90% compared to last season.

Questions floated around early about whether another kicker could push for the job, but Bond rewarded the coaching staff with a career year to this point in the season.

Below is the social media announcement that Randy Bond has been named a Lou Groza Award Semifinalist.

The national panel of voters is composed of more than 100 FBS head coaches, SIDs, media members, former Groza finalists, and current NFL kickers. Since the first Lou Groza Award was handed out in 1992, 28 finalists, including 16 winners, have gone on to appear in the NFL, earning 13 trips to the Pro Bowl and taking home 7 Super Bowls.

Where Auburn’s defense ranks statistically ahead of Texas A&M’s Week 13 road test

Here is where Auburn’s defense ranks statistically ahead of Texas A&M’s Week 13 road test

Texas A&M (8-2, 5-1 SEC) will face the daunting task of having to defeat the Auburn Tigers (4-6, 1-5 SEC) on the road inside a likely packed Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday night, as the Aggies need to win out to make the SEC Title Game and earn a spot in the College Football Playoff.

For those who haven’t paid attention, Auburn’s poor record has been a mix of turnovers, untimely defensive miscues, and coaching mistakes, leading to a 1-5 record in SEC play. However, the Tigers’ defense is one of the best in the country statistically and could give the Aggies issues if OC Collin Klein doesn’t implement a solid game plan for QB Marcel Reed.

Despite losing star running back Le’Veon Moss for the rest of the season, head coach Mike Elko still wants to run the ball but knows that the Tiger’s 12th-ranked run defense, limiting teams to under 105 yards per game, will be ready to plug the gaps early.

Here is where Auburn ranks defensively in every key metric:

  • Total Defense: 13th
  • Run Defense: 12th
  • Team Sacks: 45th (23 sacks)
  • Scoring Defense: 18th
  • Red Zone Defense: 8th
  • Passing Yards Allowed: 44th
  • 3rd Down Conversion % Defense: 35th
  • 4th Down Conversion % Defense: 64th

While the run defense is stout, Texas A&M’s elite red zone offense will be tested. At the same time, Marcel Reed will need to hit his open receivers consistently to free up more running room for Amari Daniels and EJ Smith, especially if the run game is shut down early.

With everything on the line, it’s presumed that Elko will not hesitate to go on 4th down, depending on the yardage. Efficiency on 3rd down is also key, something the Aggies have excelled at throughout the season.

Defensively, Texas A&M’s pass rush could be in for a big day. Auburn’s offense can score at any time on the ground and through the air but turns the ball over at a high right, currently ranked 124th in turnover margin.

Texas A&M will face Auburn on the road on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 6:30 pm. CT. The game will air on ESPN.

Predicting Texas A&M’s 2 remaining football games ahead of Week 13 per ESPN FPI

Here is how ESPN predicts the Aggies final two games of the regular season

Texas A&M (8-2, 5-1 SEC) will travel to Alabama on Saturday night to face the Auburn Tigers (4-6, 1-5 SEC). This game is a trap game by every definition, as the Aggies need to win to advance to the SEC Title game. Starting at No. 15 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings, A&M’s trajectory is simple: win, and you’re in. However, the Aggies’ last SEC road game against South Carolina resulted in a 44-20 loss to the Gamecocks, but let’s remember that the Tigers are currently 1-5 in SEC play. After defeating New Mexico State 38-3 in Week 12, head coach Mike Elko made a slip of the tongue when stating that the Aggies are focused on Auburn (accidentally saying Texas), but don’t let that distract you from his previous quote regarding the focus his team has, knowing that every snap now matters more than ever.
“We’re at a different spot, too, and we have to understand that people are going to play really well against us right now. We’re in first place in the SEC; we’re in the top 15 in the country.” “We just got to understand what all that is about.”
According to ESPN, FPI are the latest predictions for A&M’s Week 13 road test against Auburn and the season finale vs. Texas.

Texas A&M at Auburn

Date: Nov. 23 Location: Jordan-Hare Stadium ESPN Matchup Predictor: 58.1% chance Texas A&M wins Texas A&M’s run defense will be key against Tigers running back Jarquez Hunter while keeping quarterback Payton Thorne in the pocket and under constant pressure, which is the key to keeping this a low-scoring game. For more Auburn news and analysis, visit Auburn Wire.

Texas A&M vs. Texas

Date: Nov. 30 Location: College Station, Kyle Field ESPN Matchup Predictor: 22.3% chance to win Texas A&M’s chances to defeat rival Texas virtually remained the same, but if the Aggies can get past Auburn, I expect the odds makers to increase A&M’s chances at shocking the nation on the final week of the regular season. Where’s Texas A&M in latest College Football Playoff bracket? Full playoff picture

Texas A&M comes in at No. 15 in the newest CFP Rankings reveal

Texas A&M (8-2, 5-1 SEC) will head to Alabama to face the Auburn Tigers (4-6, 1-5 SEC) in a must-win situation before hosting Texas for one of the most important season finales in Aggie Football history unless A&M falls on Saturday night.

The definition of “trap game” head coach Mike Elko’s brief slip-up on Monday shouldn’t take away from the Aggies’ focus on the Tigers, knowing that their SEC Title and College Football Playoff dreams are still in front of them win two more victories. Still, Saturday night is the primary focus until further notice.

“This year, if we handle our business the way we can and the way we’re supposed to, we don’t need help from anybody. … You don’t feel that from the kids. The kids are just excited to be playing for something meaningful down the stretch.”

However, starting quarterback Marcel Reed will need to hit his open receivers, while running back Amari Daniels will likely take on his largest snap count of the season with Le’von Moss out for the year.

Defensively, limiting Tigers running back Jarquez Hunter and keeping quarterback Payton Thorne in the pocket is key to limiting explosive plays.

On Sunday, Texas A&M stayed at No. 15 in the newest AP Top 25 rankings. Based on last week’s ranking, Tuesday’s College Football Playoff reveal would likely match the Aggies’ newest ranking, as their playoff hopes are still in decent shape ahead of the game.

Here is everything you need to know after the first CFP Playoff reveal:

College Football Playoff bracket: Who’s in, who’s out:

  • 12-seed BYU vs. 5-seed Ohio State: Winner plays 4-seed Boise State
  • 8-seed Notre Dame vs. 9-seed Alabama: Winner plays 1-seed Oregon
  • 11-seed Georgia vs. 6-seed Penn State: Winner plays 3-seed Miami
  • 10-seed Ole Miss vs. 7-seed Indiana: Winner plays 2-seed Texas

Latest CFP rankings:

  1. Oregon (11-0)
  2. Ohio State (9-1)
  3. Texas (9-1)
  4. Penn State (9-1)
  5. Indiana (10-0)
  6. Notre Dame (9-1)
  7. Alabama (8-2)
  8. Miami (9-1)
  9. Ole Miss (8-2)
  10. Georgia (8-2)
  11. Tennessee (8-2)
  12. Boise State (9-1)
  13. SMU (9-1)
  14. BYU (9-1)
  15. Texas A&M (8-2)
  16. Colorado (8-2)
  17. Clemson (8-2)
  18. South Carolina (7-3)
  19. Army (9-0)
  20. Tulane (9-2)
  21. Arizona State (8-2)
  22. Iowa State (8-2)
  23. Missouri (7-3)
  24. UNLV (8-2)
  25. Illinois (7-3)

Texas A&M’s projected CFP opponent

Texas A&M stayed at No. 15, which is unsurprising after defeating a no 2-8 New Mexico State team that didn’t move the needle this week. However, I believe the Aggies would be favored over No. 14 BYU and No. 13 SMU. Head coach Mike Elko and his team are focused on winning the final two regular season games and clinching a spot in the SEC Title game.

How many teams are in College Football Playoff 2024?

For the first time, 12 teams will participate in the College Football Playoffs. Five automatic bids will go to each of the Power Four conference champions and one to the highest-ranked Group of Five champion. The remaining seven slots will go to the seven at-large teams.

When next College Football Playoff rankings come out

  • Tuesday, Nov. 12: 8:30 p.m. ET
  • Tuesday, Nov. 19: 7 p.m. ET
  • Tuesday, Nov. 26: 8 p.m. ET
  • Tuesday, Dec. 3: 7 p.m. ET

Will Texas A&M WR Moose Muhammad III step up after Cyrus Allen’s season-ending injury?

Texas A&M senior wide receiver Moose Muhammad III will be called up after Cyrus Allen’s season-ending injury

Texas A&M (8-2, 5-1 SEC) is only a slight favorite ahead of facing Auburn (4-6, 1-5 SEC) on Saturday night inside what should be a packed Jordan-Hare Stadium, as the Aggies are in a must-win situation before hosting No. 3 Texas in the 2024 season finale a week later.

On Monday, head coach Mike Elko revealed that during Texas A&M’s 38-3 win over New Mexico State, junior wide receiver Cyrus Allen’s in-game arm injury has now sidelined for the remainder of the season, creating an opening in the depth chart.

On its face, the name that makes the most sense to elevate up the depth chart is senior WR Moose Muhammad III, who, despite barely seeing the field this season for unknown reasons, is still the most athletic receiving option who could open up the passing game for starting QB Marcel Reed.

With the ability to play in the slot and Z-receiver spot, Muhammad has sporadically shown off his skillset set, including catching a touchdown against New Mexico State on an impressive reception in the back of the end zone.

Moving senior WR Jabre Barber (27 receptions, 281 yards) to the slot looks like the smartest move, while senior Jahdae Walker and Muhammad will likely share snaps at the Z.

Despite the Tigers’ record, Auburn’s 44th-ranked pass defense can be exposed if Texas A&M OC Collin Klein comes in with a balanced game plan. This means Muhammad, who has consistently shown the ability to get open in the middle of the field, needs to help Marcel Reed establish a passing rhythm early.

Muhammad III has recorded six receptions, 55 yards, and two touchdowns on the year in just five statistical appearances.

2026 4-star WR And LSU commit Kenny Darby will attend Texas A&M vs. Texas

Texas A&M will host one of LSU recent 2026 wide receiver commits when the Aggies host Texas on Nov. 30

Texas A&M’s (8-2, 5-1 SEC) season finale vs. Texas is obviously on the mind of every Aggie and Longhorn fan, but before the Nov. 30 matchup, both teams, especially the Aggies, need to overcome their Week 13 hurdles.

Texas A&M will head to Auburn while Texas will host Kentucky, as the latter matchup is much less strenuous than facing the Tigers on the road for a primetime kickoff.

Recruiting-wise, the return of the Lone Star Showdown will also play host to a long list of 2026 prospects for both programs, and as of this week, 2026 4-star wide receiver and LSU commit Kenny Darby has joined the list.

While Darby is a Louisiana native, no one can doubt head coach Mike Elko’s recruiting reach, while WR coach Holmon Wiggins still has much to prove. Darby is a gadget player on the field with speed, quickness, and route-running prowess to the lineup at multiple spots.

According to 247Sports, Darby is currently positioned as the 186th-ranked prospect, the 32nd-ranked wide receiver, and the 9th-ranked prospect in Louisiana.

Despite his slip of the tongue, Texas A&M HC Mike Elko is focused on facing Auburn

Mike Elko’s slight slip of the tongue was just that. The Aggies are 100% focused on the Auburn Tigers.

Texas A&M (8-2, 5-1) is playing meaningful football in November for the first time since the 2020 season under first-year head coach Mike Elko, as the Aggies face the daunting task of needing to win the last two games of the season to earn a spot in the SEC Title game, with a shot at making the College Football Playoff.

After defeating New Mexico State 38-3 on Saturday night, Texas A&M’s offense made some strides in the passing game, but all in all, defeating a now 2-8 team doesn’t move the needle aside from earning the team’s eighth win of the season.

Now set to face the Auburn Tigers (4-6, 1-5 SEC) on the road for a night game inside Jordan-Hare Stadium, Elko and his team are 100% focused on the task at hand, even though some in the media would like to twist the meaning behind a simple slip of the tongue after answering a question regarding the Texas matchup.

“When you’re in the situation we’re in, it’s easy to focus on the task at hand. You know, I think those big games earlier in the year, maybe you look ahead, and if we didn’t have what’s at stake, maybe you would worry about it.”

“Our focus is single-handedly on Texas…I mean Auburn right now and locked in on what needs to get done.”

While this quote could be used as bulletin board material for the Tigers, It’s fair to note that the Texas Longhorns should cheer for the Aggies this weekend to make the Nov. 30 matchup even more meaningful from a resume standpoint.

Texas A&M will face Auburn on the road on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 6:30 pm. CT. The game will air on ESPN.
