First look: Mississippi State at Texas A&M odds and lines

Previewing the Mississippi State at Texas A&M Week 5 matchup, with college football odds, trends and head-to-head records.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs (2-2, 0-1 SEC) travel to College Station, Texas, for an SEC West contest against the No. 13 Texas A&M Aggies (3-1, 0-1) Saturday. Kickoff from Kyle Field is slated for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Mississippi State vs. Texas A&M odds and lines; check back for our college football picks and predictions.

Rankings courtesy of the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Mississippi State is coming off back-to-back one-score losses, most recently a 28-25 loss Saturday to the LSU Tigers. MSU lost that game despite logging 29 first downs to LSU’s 15 and outgaining the Tigers 486 to 343 in total yards. The Bulldogs are 2-5 across seven regular-season one-score contests dating back to last season.

The Aggies dominated in three wins before falling 20-10 with just 272 total yards against the Arkansas Razorbacks Saturday. First look: New Mexico at Texas A&M odds and lines

Previewing the New Mexico at Texas A&M Week 3 matchup, with college football odds, trends and head-to-head records.

The New Mexico Lobos (2-0) head to Kyle Field in College Station, Texas, to face the No. 5 Texas A&M Aggies (2-0) Saturday at 12:00 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the New Mexico at Texas A&M odds and lines; check back for our college football picks and predictions.

Texas A&M needed a fourth-quarter touchdown to beat Colorado 10-7 last week. The defense was stout with just 262 total yards allowed, but the offense struggled once starting QB Haynes King left the game early. King suffered a broken ankle and is likely out until mid-October. Backup Zane Calzada went 18-for-38 with 183 yards and 1 TD in King’s absence.

New Mexico has wins over Houston Baptist and New Mexico State, but it failed to cover the spread in either of those contests. The Lobos have one of the wider offense/defense splits you’ll find. The offense has just 308 total yards combined in its first two games, but the defense has picked up the slack with 93.5 yards allowed per game and -9 total rushing yards allowed on the season.

New Mexico at Texas A&M head-to-head

This will be the fifth time the Lobos and Aggies have ever met. They most recently played in 2017 when Texas A&M won 55-14.

Texas A&M has gone Under in five of its last six games dating back to last season. They might struggle to do so here given King’s injury and New Mexico’s good start on defense.
