2026 4-star CB out of Willis (TX) will visit Texas A&M this weekend

Texas A&M will also host one of the top cornerbacks in the 2026 recruiting class amid a huge recruiting weekend

Ahead of Texas A&M’s 2024 season opener vs. Notre Dame this Saturday night, it has been reported by 247Sports’ Tom Loy that Mike Elko and his staff will host over 100 prospects in the 2025, 2026, and 2027 recruiting classes, which will now include 2026 4-star cornerback Jermaine Bishop.

Under Elko’s defensive scheme, the cornerback position will continue to build from a talent perspective every recruiting cycle, already locking down four defensive back commitments in the 2025 recruiting class, looking to add more future depth.

Set to enter his junior season at Willis HS (TX), Bishop fits the bill for Elko in terms of size, standing at 5-11 while possessing the speed and position versatility necessary to succeed at the next level.

An all-around athlete, Bishop also plays basketball and participates in track and field, adding to his athletic profile. A two-way player, Bishop also played wide receiver during his last two seasons, recording 1,414 yards and 17 touchdowns through the air and 37 tackles and five interceptions at cornerback.

According to 247Sports, Bishop is currently ranked 103rd among prospects in the 2026 cycle, 11th among cornerback prospects, and 13th among prospects in Texas.

2026 3-star safety out of Mesquite (TX) has committed to Texas A&M

Texas A&M adds its first commitment in the 2026 recruiting class!

Boom! Texas A&M’s 2026 recruiting class has gained its first commitment in the cycle. Three-star safety Markel Ford out of Mesquite (TX) announced his decision on Thursday afternoon after the Aggies offered him back in late December.

Unsurprisingly, first-year head coach Mike Elko’s defensive background has gained significant attention from nearly every highly ranked future defender. Ford is coming off one of the more productive sophomore campaigns in Texas high school football, recording 56 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and four interceptions on the year.

For those who may not have noticed, Horn HS is home to several elite prospects in the 2025 and 2026 recruiting class, including four-star offensive tackle Lamont Rogers, who recently visited Texas A&M after placing the Aggies in his top 8 program list in May.

Possessing adequate speed, agility, and, most importantly, coverage instincts to thrive in any system, Ford is also a consistent tackler after racking up nearly 60 tackles and seven tackles for loss, thriving against the run.

According to 247Sports, Ford is currently positioned as the 26th-ranked safety prospect and the 46th-ranked prospect in Texas.
