LOOK: Texans add ‘El Bravo’ to team tunnel for game day

The Houston Texans have added a new element to their routine of players running out of the tunnel.

The Houston Texans and team president Greg Grissom are doing what they can to provide for a unique and entertaining game day experience for fans throughout the entire 2021 season at NRG Stadium.

One of the upgrades the Texans made was to add “El Bravo” to the team tunnel where the players run out on the home side. The animatronic bull head with glowing eyes moves about and provides an intimidating gaze as the Texans run onto the field.

The Texans also added some new food items at NRG Stadium, including loaded brisket mac and cheese, “cracklin & queso,” and Touchdown Nachos.

LOOK: Texans debut new locker room

The Houston Texans released video to their social platforms showcasing their new locker room at NRG Stadium.

The Houston Texans have changed many things in 2021.

One of the new changes the team debuted on their official social media accounts Friday was their new locker room.

Safety Justin Reid was very complimentary towards chairman and CEO Cal McNair at the opening of the new locker room.

“Hey, man, you really outdid yourself,” Reid told McNair. “You really outdid yourself.”

Reid was very impressed with the locker room upon entering, calling it “cold.”

The lockers were filled with Texans jerseys and uniforms, prompting Reid to say that they could play a game tomorrow.

“I’m all ready to go,” Reid said.

“I love new things,” defensive end Jonathan Greenard said. “Who doesn’t love new things? So when I came out here and it wasn’t the same locker room, I’m shocked. I’m excited just to get started. We definitely have a long way to go, but this is definitely a great start.”

The Texans report to training camp on July 27 with all of the practices being held at Houston Methodist Training Center across from NRG Stadium.

USA TODAY predicts Texans go 1-16 in 2021

USA TODAY predicts the Houston Texans will go 1-16, finishing with the worst record in the NFL in 2021.

Want to hear a bold prediction? The Houston Texans will win one game in 2021.

So says Nate Davis from USA TODAY Sports, who released his annual NFL predictions.

Not only do the Texans finish as the worst team in the AFC South, but the Texans finish as the worst team in the league with a 1-16 record, which would be putrid given the NFL is expanding to 17 games. Houston can’t find a way to win two games in 2021?

Watson had his best season statistically in 2020 … yet this team was abject. You shudder to think how it will go now given the increasingly likely odds he won’t play another game for the franchise. Factor in rookie head coach David Culley, who has no pro experience at the coordinator level, and massive turnover — most of the new names forgettable — and the outlook isn’t pretty

The Texans’ two biggest problems that contributed to Watson’s Pro Bowl season being irrelevant were yards per carry surrendered and takeaways. Houston’s defense gave up 5.2 yards per carry, the worst in the NFL, and they procured just nine turnovers, the fewest across the league.

If Houston’s defense can regress to the mean with yards per carry surrendered and takeaways, even with ambiguity at quarterback with Tyrod Taylor and third-round rookie Davis Mills, the Texans should win more than one game.

The negativity is due to the immense questions that surround the team. Ultimately, Houston will have to find a way to answer these problems on paper on the gridiron.
