Titans training camp: News, notes, video from first padded practice

The Titans strapped on the pads for the first time in training camp.

Business has officially picked up at Tennessee Titans training camp, as the team held its first padded practice on Tuesday, which is a big step in preparing for the 2021 season.

We’ve seen plenty of action throughout OTAs and mandatory minicamp, but all of that has happened with players wearing practice jerseys and shorts.

As coaches will tell you, the real evaluations begin when the players strap on the pads and bang bodies. The biggest hit we saw came from rookie wideout Dez Fitzpatrick, who lowered the boom on corner Elijah Molden (video of that can be seen below).

Among the most notable absences were wide receivers Julio Jones and Josh Reynolds, and tight end Geoff Swaim. Jones left practice early on Monday, while Reynolds and Swaim have not participated since last Thursday.

Now, what you came for: all of the news, notes, video and post-practice presser highlights from Tuesday’s session.

Titans training camp: News, notes and video from Day 5 of practice

Titans CB Caleb Farley made his training camp debut on Monday.

We thought we were in for just another day at Tennessee Titans training camp on Monday, but business picked up when the team announced that 2021 first-round pick and cornerback, Caleb Farley, had been activated off the Non-Football Injury (NFI) list after passing his physical.

Farley started out training camp on the list after needing a bit more time to recover from his March back surgery. Farley was able to make his practice debut on Monday, although he participated in a limited fashion.

Two other bits of good news came with that, as offensive lineman Ty Sambrailo and running back Jeremy McNichols were activated off the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.

With the activations of Sambrailo, Farley and McNichols, the Titans now have offensive lineman Aaron Brewer on the NFI, and outside linebacker Bud Dupree on the PUP.

Without further ado, the news, notes, video and post-practice presser highlights from the training camp session on Monday morning.

The Titans were back on the practice field on Saturday for their fourth session of training camp.

The Tennessee Titans hit the practice field once again on Saturday for their fourth session of training camp.

After seeing several key players either take the day off or have a shortened session on Friday, they were back in action on Saturday, including wide receivers Julio Jones and A.J. Brown.

Wide receiver Josh Reynolds, who left practice early on Thursday and didn’t participate on Friday, did not return to the practice field on Saturday. Tight end Geoff Swaim was another notable absence.

The Titans saw two players leave practice early due to injury on Saturday. Tight end Briley Moore was carted off with a knee ailment, while outside linebacker Derick Roberson left with an undisclosed injury.

One of the biggest storylines of this training camp comes from the kicker battle. Neither Blake Haubeil nor Tucker McCann have had much success  lately, with the latest example of their struggles coming on Saturday.

Now, a full recap of the Titans’ fourth training camp practice (note: after the news, notes and videos sections, we have post-practice presser highlights, also).

Tennessee Titans training camp: News, notes and video from Day 3

Several notable Titans either got the day off or had a shortened session.

The Tennessee Titans hit the practice field once again on Friday for the third session of 2021 training camp. The players have yet to strap on the pads, which will come on Monday after taking Sunday off.

Several notable Titans either did not participate or had a shortened session on Friday, although there doesn’t appear to be any concern as said players are likely getting a rest.

With so many notable players receiving a break, this was a great opportunity for those players on the roster bubble to get more looks.

Unfortunately, reviews for the practice overall were lackluster to say the least. Here’s all the important news, notes and video, as well as highlights from post-practice pressers, from Day 3 of Titans training camp.

Note: In case you missed our recap of Day 2, you can check out all the news, notes and video right here. We’ve also provided the remaining training camp schedule below, under the news and notes, videos and post-practice presser highlights sections.

Which Titans are roster locks or on the bubble before training camp?

We go position-by-position to take our best guess at which Titans are roster locks or on the bubble.

As the Tennessee Titans prepare to embark on training camp after players report on July 27, there are certain players who are absolute locks to make the roster in our opinion, while others are on the bubble.

At this point in the offseason it’s hard to really nail down who will make the 53-man roster, as competitions haven’t fully kicked-off in earnest yet with players yet to put the pads on.

However, once training camp begins, the pads will come on and coaches will finally begin to really evaluate players, leading to the team cutting its roster from 90 all the way down to 53 ahead of Week 1.

So, which players are roster locks and which ones are on the bubble?

Of course, it’s impossible to know the exact answers to those questions, but we’ll take our best shot right here, position-by-position, while also including our best guess for who is a near-lock where applicable.

Tennessee Titans reveal 2021 training camp schedule

Unfortunately, the Titans won’t have any practices open to the general public this year.

While we have known for some time that Tennessee Titans players will report to training camp on July 27, we didn’t know the entirety of the training camp schedule until now.

Thanks to the team’s official site, we have the exact dates and times for practices, including the joint sessions set to take place with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and when head coach Mike Vrabel will speak to the media.

Unfortunately, it was also confirmed that the team will not hold any practices open to the general public due to the ongoing construction at the team’s practice facility, Saint Thomas Sports Park.

The Titans originally planned on holding one practice open to the public at Nissan Stadium, but a slew of upcoming events at the venue, including the Garth Brooks concert, the Music City Grand Prix and multiple Nashville SC games, forced the team to cancel the idea.
